Why did flashlights get changed

For those who don't know, the beam from a flashlight used to shine in the center of the screen, but in one of the last patches, the devs made it so the beam shines on the right side of the screen. It may sound like a small issue, but it's made it much harder to get FL saves. I'm honestly just wondering if the devs explained their reasoning behind this, because I'm really confused.
