This Is Why MMR Needs To Exist.
If ranks actually worked correctly; a Rank 5 Survivor should essentially mean you are in the top 25% of the Dead By Daylight skill tier out of 20 Ranks. Basically making you a "good" player; and at this point you should have a sound understanding of what Killer perks do.

Did you check the profile of this person? If they have nearly 0 Killer achievements, that's all you need to know to come to a conclusion.

To be honest, Mad Grit is not like the most popular perk, I was also surprised when I've seen it first time

Rank never equals skill. The game has so many flaws that a skill ranking is basically impossible.

Agreed, but the MMR wasn't working.
I was STILL getting these kinds of players, the Red Ranks with no experience, with the MMR up as well as suddenly getting people who weren't even outta Grey Ranks for the first time. And, unfortunately, I was getting more of the latter.
We need working matchmaking 100%: but we also need to avoid driving away new players too.

I've been getting accurate survivor matches ever since MMR was removed.

IMO the problem with the MMR was the disparity between ranks in a lobby.
- Don't mix reds with browns. Just lobbys with people with the same rank more or less. You can't throw 2 level 1 survivors and 2 level 20 survivors against a rank 10 killer.
- Take previous rank in consideration. If a person its rank 10, put it on rank 13's lobbys and start from there.
- Have 2 ranking systems. One when in SWF and another for solo.
We wanted the MMR system to fix two things: a better player experience and a ranking system to work for. I personally still want that. I hope they listen and make improvements on their MMR system.
