Cross-progression Idea

If cross-progression were to come... will we have to buy all the dlc on each platform again?

Cross play has allowed me to be able to play with my console friends while I’m on pc instead of playing on console with them.

I switched from pc to console just so I could play with my friends but now I can go back to pc and play with my friends. I had bought all the dlc on console but not on pc.

Now that I’m on pc and not on console I don’t have any of the dlc killers like I did on console.

im not asking when cross progression is coming I’m just asking if I should buy the dlc again or wait an unspecified amount of time get all the dlc without paying for them again.

i know that the devs said cross progression is highly unlikely for pc and console.

I know that merging tons of progress between the platforms is definitely a hard task, I’m fine with not getting my progress but would like to get the characters.

I think Behaviour did say they were going to try to create an ecosystem where we log into a behaviour account between all platforms.

Because of this I came up with an idea on how they can make characters transfer between platforms:

A text file can be created which contains every killer and survivor.

this text file is created for every platform (PS4, Xbox, pc, etc.)

next to each killer and survivor is a 1 or 0.

1 means that they have the killer

0 means they don’t

this is an example of what the text file will look like:

Freddy, 1

Ghostface, 1

Legion, 0

this text file will be created for every platform a person plays on.

The text files are uploaded to the dbd server.

Every time a person logs onto dbd the text files are all downloaded from the dbd server alongside our player data file etc.

All text files are read, and each character that has a 1 on the text files will be unlocked and the player can play those characters.

they could also simply merge these text files into 1 text file.

a 1 and a 0 becomes 1

a 1 and stays 1

a 0 and 0 stays as 0

This single text file can then be downloaded alongside the player data file instead of having to download 3 text files.

For those of you who are confused:

The way dbd works is when we launch the game and go into the loading screen, during that time a file containing all of our data (cosmetics we own, characters we have, how much bp we have, etc.) is downloaded.

sorry if my explanation is bad, it’s an idea I have which I can’t reallt explain well.

I understand how the game functions and what it does to work and am someone who codes and creates programs. That’s why I know a way they can create a feature where they can let characters transfer between all platforms without it being complicated.
