I have a problem with crossplay

First of all, for those that will say turn it off, just don't. Problems can't be said if I had it off. 

I wish my hard drive didn't disconnect otherwise I would have had footage. I was an Xb killer and I found a crossplay [not sure if PS or PC] survivor and I could not injure them. They got onto the gen and I grabbed them BUT the game froze and booted me straight to the main menu. 

Sidenote, ever since crossplay, framerate on Xbox is not smooth sometimes and playing as killer, I've had problems with hits and frame skipping during chases. 

I almost uninstalled the game for the first time in 3 years... but I'm trying to tough it out to see if it's me or just the game in general... games are much tougher now to the point where I feel I have no control.
