Killer Concept: The Mythos

The Mythos

Movement speed: 96.25%

Terror Radius: 32m

Height: Tall

The Mythos is a manipulative killer who can instill deceit among his competition with his power Proxy Domain.

His personal perks Eight Pages, Something Awful and You Can Run allow him to stop survivors in their tracks, and pursue them relentlessly.

We all know Slenderman, and as much as I'd love to see more original killers, I do eventually wanna see the staples of horror. I know stuff like Slender and FNAF is a bit controversial as far as people feel in this community, but they're popular and well known for reasons, right? I personally feel, with enough thought, you could definitely find a way to make these characters work for dbd whilst also incorporating the original feel of the characters.

Realm: Somewhere Awful (a collection of areas resembling Eight Pages and The Arrival locale).

Weapon: Slender Tendrils

Power: Proxy Domain (cooldown: 20 seconds)

Press and hold the Power button to activate the Proxy Domain. The Mythos will be granted the Undetectable Status Effect, playing out an animation and static audible cue of digging his tendrils into the ground.

While the Proxy Domain is active:

  • The Mythos assumes control of his tendrils in a third person view, moving at an increased speed. The tendrils cannot move through walls, but they can leap through windows and over/under dropped pallets. This state has a maximum duration of 10 seconds.
  • The tendrils have no terror radius or red stain, but create audible sound as the wriggle over and under through the terrain.
  • The tendrils can be pallet stunned, but cannot be blinded. A pallet stun will cancel Proxy Domain. Pressing the Power button again will prematurely cancel Proxy Domain.
  • Colliding with the hitbox of a survivor allows you to assume control of the survivor for 12 seconds.

Once a survivor is controlled by the tendrils, killer instinct triggers over any survivor within your terror radius (much like Legion) and The Mythos is capable of only one of numerous actions as survivor, who is now afflicted with the Proxy Status Effect:

  • The Proxy (killer side) views through the afflicted survivor's eyes in first person. The Proxy mirrors the controls of a typical killer, with a simple basic attack and (albeit slightly faster) 125% movement speed, whilst also retaining a red stain and 24 meter terror radius of their own. The killer mans control, while the survivor has their screen tremendously static-y.
  • The Proxy can drop a pallet, immediately breaking it.
  • The Proxy can lash out and injure/down another survivor.
  • The Proxy can utilize the strength of the tendrils to carry and hook a survivor.
  • Once the Proxy effect has elapsed or the Proxy has performed a single action, the tendrils release their grasp of the survivor, injuring them, or applying deep wound if already injured. Pressing the Power button also allows the power to end prematurely.
  • After the power ends, The Mythos (who had left an Undetectable husk) and the afflicted survivor swap places in the same amount of time it takes to wipe a weapon.

- Perks -

Hex: Eight Pages: Every time a generator reaches 100%/75%/50% progression (never the same generator), Eight Pages receives a Token. Upon the trigger of endgame collapse, earn one final Token.

Each Token decreases the running speed of all survivors by 1%.

The Hex effects persist as long as the related Hex Totem is standing.

Something Awful: After hooking a survivor, all survivors within 12/24/32 meters are interrupted from all actions and cannot perform any actions for 2 seconds.

Something Awful can only be triggered once every 100/80/60 seconds.

You Can Run: When survivors within 24 meters of you have direct line of sight for longer than 2 seconds, they scream and you gain 5% Haste for 2/3/4 seconds.

You Can Run can only be triggered once every 60/50/40 seconds.

I'm honestly up for any criticism or build off of my overly complicated idea. I'd love to hear what your ideas are too!

And yeah, I know there's a lot of controversy behind this concept, not many people will agree with me here but I do think Slenderman would make for a great DbD killer, considering I feel that BHVR tries to use their license deals to add characters who've truly made a name for themselves within the genre of horror. And I stand by the thought that the Slender and FNAF franchises have certainly earned a status, however notorious they may be.

Sorry, but I doubt the devs would greenlight this power. Highjacking a survivor's control of themselves sound both broken and irritating.

I like it, seems a little complicated but thats just my taste. I personally like the idea of slenderman, though I can understand why others might not.

Forgot I posted this for a hot sec.

That said, I do agree it might be irritating, but I feel that both a hefty enough cooldown on the power along with a limit on your number of actions (in this case, u can only choose one of a couple), might make it manageable.

Like, give him strong, powerful actions to make as a controlled survivor, but make it a short duration and on a cooldown. Survivors already deal with downtime when it comes to being hooked and slugged. Maybe make it so that you can take control of a downed survivor?

Granted, my idea is quite convoluted, but hey, anything to get the ball rolling.

This is a very alternative Slenderman concept for DBD. If I understood right, the killer take controll of survivors and use them for normal killer's operations. Funny, yet unlikely.

    Talking about the perks:

    1. Hex: eight pages: The most randomic, i see no synergies with other perks or add-ons, but above all I don't see how it can penalize or benefit different gameplay for both survivors or killer. It looks like an endgame perk, but it is also an Hex so it is unlikely to reach the endgame.
    2. Something awful: A casual name for a casual perk, the 2 seconds effect is just... randomic. The only thing i can see work with this could be Thrilling Tremors. Do not also afflict flashlights because a survivor would try to use it for blind the killer before he hook any survivor (so it would make more sense if the perk activate when you pick a survivor, preventing the window for being flashlight stunned)
    3. You can run: another casual name for a casual perk, but i can give it a reason to exist if i put it on the ghostface.
