I should get around 30mbp/s but I'm only getting 4.5?

I'm downloading dbd onto an external hard drive and I'm not sure why its going so slow? I should get around 30mbsp but its saying I've got a max of 4? Is this normal? Or because I'm using an external hard drive?

That sounds about right. It's worth noting that 30 mbps is not 30 mb/s, you have to divide the Mbps by 8 to get the mb/s. Mbps = Megabits per second, mb/s = megabytes per second. Steam's showing your mb/s.

It's a little bit confusing, but often times people will list speeds in mbps, which makes it look way faster.
