THE DEVELOPERS ARE NOT THINKING IN THE PERKS
First of all, this is not a negative review or any indirect insult to the developers, this discussion has to take place in order to take a step forward in dead by daylight gameplay. I know perfectly that I'm just another player in the game, a simple fan, but my opinion deserves seriousness. In this discussion I will explain my discontent with several arguments, so please read carefully.
This game is great and entertaining, you can have so much fun when you starts to understand it and becoming a good player. Dead by daylight had got so many good and positive updates in the playability which have managed to improve the game a lot.
Here are some of those patchs and updates:
- Eliminated the teletranspotation of the survivors when they went to a pallet and threw it.
- Changed the way you recovered from the exhausted status effect.
- Improvements in the hitboxes of survivors.
- The rework of the legion.
- Rework of Freedy.
- Added the endgame collapse.
- Rework of the doctor.
- Improved the fast vault and the distance that you get from windows.
- Reduction of the charges in the toolboxes, added the brekable walls and the rework of the sabotaging action.
- Reduction in the additional progress with multiple survivors in a generator.
- Changes in the main structures of the maps: macmillan state, coldwind farm and autohaven)
- Rework of hillbilly and leatherface.
- New graphics for bhadam preeschool and yamaoka state and new animations for reapairing generators and searching chests.
But something very important has been forgotten, something that devs never have done something that a lot of people had been asking for. (Buff or rework at least almost all the bad survivor and killer perks) counting them all, there are 67 perks that are useless or not good enough to put them in your build, and a 60% or more are survivor perks. Almost all this perks just need a change in the numbers to really become useful, and that probably is not so hard and difficult to make.
I'm boring of playing with the same 10 perks as a survivor, the game needs more variety in the builds that players run, beacuse is the same damn thing over and over again (desicive strike, borrowed time, sprint burst, adrenaline, unbreakable, iron will, dead hard, etc ...)
Since the beggining:
- When devs started to put new killers in the game, perks like slippery meat and small game became useless.
- When the players abilities started to improve, perks like premonition, unreleting, deja vu, deerstalker, insidius and iron grasp became useless.
- When the players started to realise about what will be more convenient, perks like dark sense, monstrous shrine, spies from the shadows, hope, no one left behind and plunsderer instinct became useless.
After 4 years the devs never have buffed this perks, it is very sad. And then they continue adding new chapters with poor characters, the first DLC with a bad survivor I think it was Ace Visconti, also others like Quentin Smith, Detective Tapp, Kate Denson, Adam Francis, Jane Romero, Ash Williams, Steve Harrington and Yui Kimura.
If devs don't want to do such little work, there is in my opinion another option, put on every survivor one of his three perks as a passive ability.
I personally had posted 1 discussion named (Reworks and buffs for almost all the bad survivors perks in the game) and another (4 Fanmade survivors perks), if you want, you can go and read them.

Play with whatever perks you want. Just because they aren't "meta" or add good as other perks doesn't mean they are useless or even bad.

You can but most are so situational and useless, but a small change could be good. I agree that many perks need a tweak to be more interesting or useful.

I've been wanting a big perk patch more than any other patch for the past year or so. The meta is stale and makes both killer and survivor more boring to play. Playing against survivors with DS, Unbreakable, ect is getting old and incredibly frustrating, and having such a large gap between the effectiveness of perks makes playing survivor less fun. You either run the perks that have been incredibly good for over 2 years, or you run the newer perks with all of their preconditions in hopes that you get to actually use them and get a minor benefit.
This is an issue especially for survivors. In the last 11 DLCs that included survivors (from Quentin onward), only about 3 perks are anywhere close to the power of the meta perks. All the other ones have too many preconditions or a very small effect on the match in comparison to perks like DS, Unbreakable, Adrenaline, Borrowed Time, Dead Hard, or Sprint Burst. It would be so very nice to get a patch that balances out all or most of the perks.

A giant 'redo' of most survivor/killer perks would go a long way in breathing new life into the game, for sure.

Some of the perks you mentioned aren't bad, its just that people are playing the best perks, the actions of individuals are whats making things boring for you.
Small game is a nice totem hunting perk if you're not using Detective's Hunch, Iron grasp is good if you want to basement hook people, deja vu prevents three gen-ing yourself if you use it right, and Deerstalker is good for people who can't find slugs..
The issue is that you can only run 4 perks, and most of us use our perks as crutches to carry us through the game.
Perhaps we should all replace some of our meta-perks with some non-meta ones. Then maybe others will join in too.

I came in expecting a blind rage but you bring up a good point. The devs completely ignore perks as the meta evolves and it just makes the meta more and more stale.

The last decent perks was Inner strength, a while ago, Yikes the devs need to get themselves together.
