Punishments for selfish survivors
Okay so I don’t know how this isn’t a thing yet but why aren’t we punishing survivors for not unhooking A survivor? Like unless the killer is camping there should be no reason not to help out a survivor. I’ve had 3 games today where I die on first hook because my team would rather do gens and open the gates then unhook me when the killer isn’t even camping. We should apply a penalty to survivors who don’t unhook survivors the same way we apply penalties to killers who camp

Its not a team game, mate. Its a game where the survivors need each other to escape.
As a terror game, imagine the real life. Would go for a save for a unkown person? A player can play that immersive or roleplaying. I used to save after gates were on only ppl i knew that was in a SWF. Otherwise, didnt make sense sacrifice myself if risky.
But nowadays? Now I find fun at that end game and most times I go for the risky saving. The game is no more about escaping, as much as it became more action and less terror in my mind.
And if no one comes to save me? It may happen. I will keep myself there to at least help with my sacrifice not confirmed.
But... idk your rank, cause in my ranks solo players like me act as coordinated as hell, so its hard to die in first hook even without SWF.
Try a more immersive gameplay in the early game. I think mastering stealth must come before mastering chases, until cause its easier not to be seen than to escape.

Survivors do get punished for not unhooking a survivor. Whether or not it's a meaningful punishment is up for debate.
First off no unhooks means no altruism bloodpoints.
Second Benevolent emblem punishes every survivor when another survivor is hooked if it's not the death hook. Likewise every survivor gains benevolent score when ever a survivor is unhooked.

Nowhere in the game forces anyone to do anything for anyone else. If you don't get saved from hook, then your teammates are for sure selfish, but that was their choice. And killers don't get punished for camping. If you mean de-pips and less BP, thats not punishment since ranks mean little these days and killers are BP farmers anyway. The game was never a team game despite what it's turned into today. It was you alone with random strangers that may or may not help you.

Nice idea but....then I could use that punishment as a strategy.
Let's say survivors have a certain amount of time and they need to rescue, if the killer is away from the hook.
Then, I can take advantage of that and proxy camp, knowing that they will get punished if they don't rescue. I'd just need to know exactly my distance to the hook and the fastest route to it.
Plus, If i'm playing things like demo, freddy, Billy...etc I can just get back to the hook really quick.
I don't think punishing survivors for not rescuing would be good because then, survivors would become really predictable.
But maybe, I would agree with some kind of punishment regarding scoring. If you camp as a killer you lose points, so maybe if you stay too long doing nothing as survivor, you lose points too.

That was my idea. Same penalty of if the killer ISNT within 16 meters they lose emblem points.

I mean it forces killers to not camp, not tunnel etc so why not force survivors to not be completely selfish?

The punishment is you lose a teammate and the game becomes harder to win.
