Connecting the Blight - Has he been in the realm since 2018?

With the PTB release of the Blight we have received, what I think is, the last piece in a larger story that has been told since the first Hallowed Blight Event in 2018.

Here is what I think the first time we were introduced to the new killer “The Blight” aka Talbot Grimes..

The first time we come across Talbot is in the first entry of the Hallowed Blight Event. The Hallowed Blight Event journals are accredited to Benedict Baker, however I believe this journal was most likely lost while Benedict was between Trails. Thus it has ended up in Talbot's hands as he awakens in the Entity's realm.


The First Entry of the Hallowed Blight 2018 Event

19 October - The Night

It is impossible to describe the horrifying scenes I have witnessed... death and misery, in every shape of terror, rule this place. I can no longer recall how I have come to this place. All I remember is the opaque, milky fumes of opium in the murky den hazing a sweet, welcoming abyss. I awoke to dreadful screams in this endless night, at the feet an old tree that leaked foul-smelling fluids. I know not how to reach those poor souls, nor do I want to. Keeping a record is all I can do to make sense of it.


The single biggest piece of evidence of this being Talbot instead of Benedict is the line “All I remember is the opaque, milky fumes of opium in the murky den hazing a sweet, welcoming abyss” As Talbot's Lore page states, after being captured for conducting his “research” is 'He awoke ragged and unwashed, splayed on the straw mattress of an opium den. “ He continued to be held at this den against his will, as he was either forced to consume either opium or other drugs, possibly some of which he may have concocted, until the Entity found him and persuaded him to come into it's realm with the Blight to experiment with.

This means that since we can follow the lore of Talbot since Oct 19 2018. The rest of the lore from the Hallowed Blight, including the cinematic, follow Talbot on his journey through the Entity's realm over his first 12 days. The last entry of the Hallowed Blight Event is


31 October - Pray

Soon, very soon, I will be at peace. The cold claws of death are drawing near.

It's here. The Entity is here. It has found me.


The best guess I have to this is Talbot could no longer escape the Entity, as he had done over the past 12 days, as the Blight he was studying was now gone. He was most likely scooped up for trails as a survivor at this point as he seems to continue to want to live.

From here we don't really see anything about Talbot, unless I'm missing something else, until the The Withering Blight event in 2019. This event, being the first to be on the Tome I – Awakening, unlocks the story of The Alchemist. This story shows Talbot finally losing hope of ever getting more of the Blight, and ever returning home. With the final cinematic being his final moment as a survivor.
