I just got back from a week break. Is there a key challenge?

I played about 5 matches yesterday, and in 4 of my matches, someone brought a purple or pink key.
Is there a key challenge that just came out in the rift?
Edit: on top of that, why am I facing people that are usually 4-8 ranks higher than me?
Im not complaining about either, but i just wanna know.

Could be. Pretty sure that same challenge has been in the last two tomes.

Even if there are no key escapes in the current Level of the current Tome, there are escape challenges that might push people to bring a key to increase their odds. This is especially true if the challenge requires also some extra condition that makes it harder.
With that being said, there is also the chance that some players are doing older Levels of older Tomes. 👍️
