Survivors punished for bad killers
When are they going to fix the fact that survivors get punished because they're playing against a killer that can't play? I just played a match where a Wraith spent the whole match chasing one person and refused to swap targets or interact with any other players even though I was running in his face--and I depipped. Why was I punished because the killer was bad?

Maybe he wanted to intentionally tunnel 1 person the whole game.
I sometimes do that to piss people off and making others not get points.

Wow, you're living up to your name.

The pip system is almost completely worthless for that reason, and many others.
8 -
You can get boldness from working on gens within terror radius, as well as destroying totems and hooks I believe. You should be able to at LEAST safety pip. That's your own fault.
Besides, pips mean literally nothing. The real problem here is the "omg my pips" attitude.
1 -
No, the real problem is that I couldn't play the entire match because the killer refused to interact with anyone else and was punished for it. That sucks, and it's pretty messed up. I don't care that much about pips, I'm already red rank--it's just stupid as hell that I'm punished because the killer sucks.

If the killer couldn't catch you, how could you not find a way to lose them?
Again - the real issue is you and your "omg pips" mentality.
2 -
The same reason why killers are punished for survivors being bad and DCing
4 -
Against bad survivors you can usually go for all 12 hooks and extend the game out without worry.
The main issue is when multiple people d/c at the start or if you play a killer like Plague or Leatherface whom the pip system hates.
1 -
As survivor you can force chases with the bad killer and get more points and easily get a pip or two.
But that might involve sandbagging...so no 😋
1 -
Why are you complaining about it? Move on to the next match.
1 -
Yeah, I was trying to run behind the person they were following all match but I was getting in the way and almost killed him, so I couldn't. The only option was to use the time they were sacrificing wisely. Which sucks.

Well, not my fault if others pissed me off and made me tilted.

It's pretty petty and immature though lol.

Well, but he has a point.
If some people would stop their toxic behavior... You know^^. But if I see the fanbase of some streamers writing, I get the feeling that it is hard for them to be not toxic.
Nobody should be surprised if he has a burned hand, after laying his hand on a hot stove.

The strange thing is, I had a prediction some time ago that someone would make this complaint inevitably. Guess I was right. I don't really mind pips or rank all that much in game, so if I didn't pip, I either didn't do much that trial or didn't do a good enough job to get higher quality emblems.
That said, I've had plenty of matches where I went unchased and didn't get a Chaser emblem whatsoever. I never once thought it was the killer's fault because of that, that was more on me, but then again I'm not the kind of player who is confident enough in my abilities to actively seek the killer out for a chase or two.

maybe

Well, it's difficult because I'm a highly altruistic player. My favorite perks are usually For the People or We'll Make it & empathy. So if a killer chases one person for the entire match and refuses to swap targets and can't catch that one person then.... ?? I can't get altrusim points, I can't get chase points because they won't chase me, all I can do is do generators with the time given and leave.

I depiped once, even i made it through the exit gates and the killer was not even AFK. Game is hard sometimes, but you should never de-pip as survivor, if you escape through the gate.

Pipping and the Emblem system are currently piles of steaming garbage.
Also, Killers go through the same thing. Having bad opponents punishes them too.
3 -
That would explain it...it is unfortunate when that happens, yes, but I'm guessing this was just a one match occurrence? Not every match is going to be like that one with the Wraith - at least I hope not.
1 -
That's precisely why it pays to not care about ranks or pipping in this game. Even the devs admitted that ranks don't properly represent skill.

When are they going tondix the fact that killers get punished because they are playing against survivors who cant play. I got into a game where within the first 2 min i had one hook and 3 survivors slugged at the same time and i depiped after hooking them all.
1 -
At least as killer you have some control over it. Instead of slugging everyone you could have just slugged one person, hooked one person, and let everyone else do unhooks so that you get your hooks in. It's a really bizarre system that punishes winning too quickly though.

why does pips matter to people?I don't get it.

You were not punished because he was bad. You were punished because YOU were bad. You wanted him to chase you. You spent JUST as much time in wasted effort as that Killer did. You could have been earning points by doing Generators, Bones, or perhaps the odd rescue. You could have earned points by staying near him in the right way. Don't blame other people for your failure. A bad Killer who doesn't know how to break off chases means you are free to make all the points you want.

They do and they don't--rank is meaningless but as people we're hardwired to feel bad when a game demotes us.
0 -
There was no one to rescue because they couldn't catch the one person they chased. No one to heal because he wouldn't break chase. Literally could only do gens & go. Read the thread.

I read the post, closely. And you should have worked those Generators and then moved on to Boldness. Most people are happy when they get a Potatoe Killer. Again, don't place your failures on other people. Bad Killers are the exception, not the rule. The better YOU get the fewer of them you will run into. So play more games, rank up more, and worry more about YOU and less about other people.

I'm already in red ranks, dude. He was a rank 2 killer.
0 -
Then you should KNOW all this already. :) I fight Red Rank Killers and Survivors every day. Only once in a Blue Moon do I see the situation you described. It would be lottery odds to get it in the Red Ranks. It is a non-problem. If YOU keep running into it, then the common denominator is YOU.
1 -
False self-validation. It's like GSP in Smash - both of which can be gained by cheese.

I've never seen a killer who so single-mindededly follows one person before--it was definitely his fault, but I can see that it's really killing you to imagine that a killer could be the problem.
0 -
So what? Dude; you had a bad game. It happens. It isn't a problem with the overall setup. You got one single-minded Killer and YOU got single-minded in return. There are FIVE Totems and FIVE Generators to be fixed on that map. Even without a single save, you could have avoided losing a Pip. You CHOSE invest in the same insanity as the Killer; accept your responsibility in this situation. It isn't something that happens often, particularly not at the Red Rank level. Let it go, move on. Get your Pips back in another game.

losing a pip in one match don't bother me ranks normal don't matter to me but
if it make you feel better I would of chase you if you were that out chasing the killer like you said
0 -
Hahah thank you. I was trying so hard to get him to chase me :(

I must seriously not have been hardwired that way, then. My rank in DbD doesn't matter to me any more than my SR rank in Overwatch Competitive did.
I'm stuck with a rank number here because BHVR designed only one mode, but I could not care any less if it says 20 or 1. All I care about is if I earned at least 20k BP base. I only play Competitive mode in Overwatch for the different match format as a means to shake it up a little from the Quick Play format.

Eh, my Overwatch SR matters to me much, much more than my rank in DbD since Overwatch tends to be more skill based than dbd ranks. But I'm also an extremely competitive person.

I used to be, trust me. Many years ago in games. I turn 48 years old on Christmas, and nowadays I just don't care that much anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I like to win, but a loss doesn't tilt me. On to the next game, or just call it a bad night for PvP gaming and go do one of my other entertainment options.
Hell, I played Survivor tonight just to take a break from Killer. Five matches: Two with Ebonies and all five with NOED. Whatever. Whether it's PvP or MMO raiding, my days of sweating in a video game are in the past.

Bad survivor DC the second you down them so you cant 12 hook
0 -
Ahhh that's fair. I just hate losing & I always have. I was That Kid who gets mad at monopoly and flips the board but still makes everyone play all the time. I'm just competitive so it gets annoying when I'm like climbing through red ranks and one of my pips gets taken away. I already have the rank 1 survivor achievement but still, my pipppp.
