I was playing DBD yesterday when I realized every game I had was the same. Someone died with 3 gens left, and the killer slugged the second to last person. And in a lot of these games the killer used Knockout. Is this coincidence?

Yes,it is.

Knockout is a pretty uncommon perk, but slugging in that particular situation is to prevent the hatch from opening and is pretty common.
