PTB seems useless

What is the point of having a PTB if so many unplayable bugs are still going to arise from the update? I thought this stuff was supposed to be tested and fixed, THEN RELEASED, not a "there's probably still bugs but we have to release this on schedule, we can fix it later in future patches" thing

Ptb is just a glorified advertisement. This is proven by the fact that the update released while it disables the game on windows 7 lol.

The PTB they released wasn't really close to the launch patch. They did a lot of changes and they did not update PTB to test them out. Which is why there's so many bugs. They need to update PTB continuously. What's the point of not letting consoles have access to PTB when it is not getting updated continuously.

Who in the everloving ######### would not update the PTB after changes? Then what the hell is the point of having a PTB? Might as well make it live there's literally no difference

Consoles cannot be part of any PTB because many game files are being changed, which takes days if not weeks to be approved by Sony or Microsoft.

Agreeing with the above: why even have a PTB when changes are made to the live patch that weren't tested at all?

C'mon, devs, stop looking at EA or Bethesda for inspiration...

and that is the other part of the problem:

we are dealing with the ungodly mixture of devs not putting changes onto the ptb and people not testing small things on the ptb.

I mainly code and test text based games, but I lost count of how often one of these two things happened with the stuff i tested/coded:

    1. surprising the author and publisher (it's a small indie company doing these) by being the ONLY beta tester to have tested out stuff and having found bugs/coding errors/general weirdness
    2. Having to explicitly ask my testers to test certain things

and i assume it's similar here:

people go on the ptb, check out the new killer, check the new survivor, check a new map if available... and that's it.

this isn't meant as bragging, but I know that if the ptb would be easier accessible than it is now (the whole 'having to replace the main client with the ptb one' is a mess, just give people direct access from the main client please) i'd spent hours going through the killers and survs, interact with all sorts of stuff on the map and go generally haywire, just to see what can go wrong...

In general: please please please devs, make the ptb easier accessible and have the testing phase take as long as it needs.

They confirmed that the PTB was a version that was officially already obsolete at release. Hilarious.

BHVR released the week old build on the PTB for a psychological effect. They intentionally released a poorer version of the game / killer so that people could go from the PTB to live and be like 'wow they changed so much'

It produces the illusion of being productive. You initially release an inferior version of your product and then you 'improve' upon it, releasing the up to date version at a later date to improve the mood of your customers, and to encourage more positive reviews.

This marketing strategy is most successfully utilized by Paradox, they release partial games for a low price and then offer many DLCs to fix the games. The problem with this strategy for BHVR is that they don't do any in-house testing to iron out bugs, so they end up releasing a bug riddled mess that hasn't been properly tested, and then they compound this by taking an extraordinarily long time to fix these bugs. This is not even mentioning the balance issues the game has.

I really don't know what their issue is, they either have the wrong people developing this game, or they have too few of them, or both.
