Locked Cosmetic Sets
Man, I was looking forward to buying the Oktoberfest sets out but Kate's set being locked pissed me off and now I'm not buying anything. I thought the idea for locked sets were for cosmetics that fundamentally changed the nature of the character (Cheryl - Lisa).
Are locked sets just a lame way for the cosmetic devs to work around having to ensure new cosmetics generally fit with all the others without things like David's gap?

LOCKED SETS SHOULD COST LESS. THEY ARE FUNDAMENTALLY WORTH LESS BECAUSE THEY HAVE LESS VALUE.
There. I said it.

People keep misunderstanding this.
Legendary outfits change the character you're playing as, this means every legendary is a set.
Sets, however, can be an outfit for a character that are locked pieces.
Every legendary is a set, but not every set it legendary.
The reason for Kates outfit being a set is because it's an entire dress, if the dress were cut into two pieces, the torso and legs, there would be horrific clipping issues with her existing outfits, therefore the outfit is a set.

We've never had cosmetics that don't clip in one way or the other. I don't think people care that much about small clipping tbh. It just seems like a cash grab (or cover up for one company demanding their cosmetics be sets - but even then I wouldn't mind that so idk).
I bought the Lisa cosmetic but having seen whats happening im not going to be buying many more cosmetics (definitely not locked sets)

It wouldn't be small clipping, take Neas hooded set for example, imagine the hood clipping with her other long hairs, it would look horrendous.
Same goes for clowns set, the head and torso are basically connected by the huge fat chin, imagine how weird those seams would be on other outfits.

I think most people are okay with that. What we're not okay with is locking the head.
6 -
Like we've never had clipping before? I struggle to think of any Feng cosmetic that doesn't clip someway...
I don't see why they can't at least do head and body or for killer body and weapon.
Its just lazy and anti consumer imho
1 -
What?
I think you're just angry at the devs, how is it lazy? They fundamentally have a system in place that they've been using for years, how is locking cosmetics together done out of laziness?
As for anti consumer... You know it's locked together, they announced the locked together thing before they even started doing sets... you don't need outfits to play the game, at all.

TheyIterally patched it so people couldn't use Neasden head on other cosmetics - that's where I have an issue. That hair wouldn't have caused issues elsewhere. None of the hairstyles would.
1 -
Ok?
All I'm doing is explaining the difference between sets and legendary outfits, nowhere have i given whether I agree or disagree, but I also understand why it's done.
They constantly try and fix clipping issues, the thing with this is, you can't fix it, so you just have people constantly complaining about clipping that you can't fix.

From what I've gathered ever since these sets came out, people care way more about being able to customize their characters then they do about clipping.

"None of the hairstyles would" But you're talking about using a head independent of the rest of the outfit, so I don't see how hairstyles would have an issue with another hairstyle because you can't have two on at the same time.
and yes, they fixed it because if you can do it with that outfit you would be able to do it with other outfits, again, I'm just explaining things, I'm not saying I agree or disagree but I understand why they've done it and also realise I have the choice not to support the game by buying those sorts of things.

That's cool and all but I don't think the devs want to have nea running around with her hood up and her hair clipping through the outfit the entire game, most clips happen during certain animations etc, this would just constantly be clipping.

I haven't seen anyone say they want her hoodie to be able to work with any head, they want to be able to use that head on other outfits, since it caused zero clipping itself.

The back of the head was bald, people only ran it because it was a funny bug not because it looked good.
and again, all I'm doing is explaining things, I agree that most of the heads & killers weapons don't need to be locked but I also understand why they're locking most things.

This. I think most people are smart enough to know certain items can't work with others (minotaur and Greek clown - excluding weapons). What were not okay is locking parts for literally no reason.
2 -
That's entirely false. I know plenty of people that liked it. Regardless all they have to do is give her a buzz cut in the back, so it doesn't look unfinished.
1 -
I ran it because I liked it. It was the only red head Nea had. It also had tight cornrows to the side which kinda matched the shaved aesthetic of the back...
Edit: autocorrect

I guess I'm not mad. Just disappointed. I throw money at the screen every time they release a cosmetic with a flowy dress because I think they almost all look awesome, but I hate being locked into one stupid look.
1 -
You never know, some people may have genuinely liked how the head look. Everyone has their own taste.
1 -
I loved how the head looked. Like some ######### out of Tank Girl.

Also, Kate's set is linked but STILL has clipping issues. I mean, really?
2 -
I think that's their defense. If it wasn't linked there would be even worse clipping issues.
0 -
I hear you, but the problem is the clipping issues are on portions of the same part of the outfit which shouldn't happen at ALL. More specifically the blue bow on her back. If the outfit WAS mix/match the bow would still clip into the skirt when running as they'd both be part of the skirt.

I agree. I mean Meg's pigtails constantly clip into her shoulder. Regardless of which top you're using. It does it with all of them.
2 -
Counterpoint: Bunny Feng. It predates the Linked set trend, has some nasty clipping, and nobody complains.
This is a money move, nothing more.

two cents on this:
outfits that don't have a reason to be locked (even if its just in parts) should not be locked.
like the minotaur skin for oni? yeah, that's ought to be locked cause it's one whole design.
Kate's Dirndl however? There is negative reason for it to be locked. The dirndl itself might be okay to be locked, but the head? all that's different to her other heads is the flowercrown. there's zero reason to not have the head be separate.

I am pretty sure that the Devs earn less money with Set Cosmetics, since with regular Cosmetics, some people buy parts of it, which is not possible with Sets.
E.g. you only like the Head of the most recent Nea-Cosmetic, you would have gotten the Head for 400 Cells and nothing more. Since it is a Set, but you dont like the other parts, you dont buy it aka 0 Cells.
3 -
no, it's to squeeze every last penny they can from you

this.
Like, i dunno how many cells i spent on parts of Claudette's and Caleb's outfit, but usually only the chest and legs, respectively torso. Especially with Caleb, I LOVE the black coat, but I HATE the head from the outfit. I would have never bought it had it been linked.
Same now with the aforementioned dirndl for kate: I'd have love the head and def would have bought it. but not the whole set.
1 -
I used to buy whole sets - even if I didnt like all individual parts - mainly for the discount and to have the option. Even if they soft locked the sets so you had to buy the whole thing but could equip the pieces individually I'd be behind that (legendary sets excluded for obvious reasons).
This screams that theyre trying to profit off things like Ghostface - as his mask rarely changes between outfits.

It pisses me off so much that you can use Jane's or a hoodless version of Nea's set head with other items. It makes no sense and is just... so boring... I really hope they change how sets work and make them conditional or 2-pieces when possible.
Plus, almost every one of Cheryl's cosmetics being part of a set is incredibly irritating. It really just feels like they're just making some outfits "sets" for no good reason
2 -
well, cheryl is not only a licensed character, but a KONAMI character. they have a really nasty reputation when it comes to copyright licenses, so, by all means, adding in SH was prolly a big mistake
1 -
I would literally have no problem if it was only Konami sets that were linked. And by all means keep ones like the Minotaur sets linked (weapons would be questionable). I would understand and support that. But linking sets that clearly have no reason to be linked if its to make Konami seem like the regular joe? No thanks. I'm out.
2 -
So locking cosmetics together to prevent severe clipping issues = money grab
but forcing players to buy entire sets just to equip certain pieces wouldn't be? lmao
1 -
I don't know what people don't understand that some sets can't just be split into 3 different parts... Kate is wearing a folk costume, how would you split that into two pieces considering she's wearing some sort of an apron? And her hair...it's too long so it would go through some of her tops (the one with the pink hat and the one with a bag...)
So yeah, I agree there shouldn't be too many locket outfits but damn, we have seen like what...one Kate's, one Jane's and Nea's? In my opinion locket sets are a great way how to create outfits that wouldn't work separately because they're either a dress, or some parts are longer and would collapse with another different outfits.
1 -
A money grab is still a money grab.
I'm just stating which of the two money grabs I would prefer.
