Ultra-Rare "Flashlight" idea
I've been thinking about bringing up an idea for an Ultra-Rare... "flashlight", though it's more of a firecracker in a way.
A flare gun, single-use, once used it's gone for good. No black ward, no add-ons to keep it, nothing.
Essentially how I see the flare gun working;
- It can be used as a beacon to either show other Survivors where you are, or to distract the Killer to come after you.
- It can be fired directly at the Killer to instantly blind them and stun them for a few seconds. Blind only applying if the Killer is shot in the face, and stun reducible by Enduring.
- It's only one-time use, cannot be protected by a Black Ward or any other add-ons if it's used.
- Matter of fact, it cannot use any add-ons to begin with. An item with no add-ons, one-use, gone once used.
- It'd function similarly to a flashlight but instead of a beam, it'd fire the flare projectile.
- Can be used to get a Survivor off the Killer's shoulder in one hit.
- Should not be a hitscan projectile - give it travel time like Huntress' hatchets.
Though I also see how it would not work for multiple reasons;
- Conflicts with lore - why would the Entity bring a flare gun into the Fog, full of monsters sensitive to the light? Flares are an extremely powerful light source as well.
- When four-man flare gun squad.
- Imagine you get sniped with a flare across the map after picking up a Survivor. This could be countered by giving it a limited max range, though.
I know I'm probably gonna get the usual community treatment when thinking of something potentially overpowered, but I still wanted to post this nonetheless. Take it with a grain of salt.

I don't see why not. Almost all of the killer ultra's are extremely broken.

Actually quite like the idea but as you mentioned why would there be a flare gun? Other than that it seems like a good idea,

so... Friday the 13th?

A flare gun could instantly stun the Killer, instantly blind if they're shot directly in the face, but only be usable once, cannot be saved by a black ward by reducing it to 'one charge' for the rest of the trial, can't have any add-ons to save it from being consumed when used, and so on.
But it should also be truly extremely rare, you know? Like, rarer than a Skeleton Key or Rainbow Map, or the ultra-rare add-ons for the other Survivor items.2 -
I was expecting to see "1 that works" when i opened this one. <---as you can tell i suck at using them lol. I know, practice more

This is an interesting idea. But why in the world would the Entity bring a flare gun into a realm with creatures that do not particularly enjoy the light?1

Knocking survivors off a killers shoulder is a bit of a bit idea (pretty much a pallet to go). Basically having a god item but making it super rare isn't going to make it less op.

Since it's the Entity's own realm, I guess he could change the rules of the flare gun to make it happen only the way he wants it to happen or something, you know?
Since it's the Entity's world, I'm pretty sure he has total control over it. 'Changing the rules', I doubt is out of the question.
That and the fact that the Entity feeds on hope. Giving Survivors stronger tools to fight back = making them much more hopeful that they'll escape = a much tastier meal when they're inevitably sacrificed.1 -

So you mean my rank 1 teamates when we get ebony + insta hatchets + extra hatchets and they all dc within the first 3 minutes of the match? Yeah, super OP indeed.

sadly this will never happen, as there are already 2 ultra rare, and you need to follow the 4; 5; 5; 4; 2 rule

Imagine 4 DS + 4 these items. Freddy is no longer the worst nightmare.

To the OP, I’m alright with this idea. I mean, we’ve had firecrackers and the party cracker. Don’t see why not, most Survivors screw up the timing anyway.1 -

So it’s the Killer fault your teammates Rage Quit cause the Killer used add ons they/you deem “OP” and don’t like? Cool Beans. Always blame the Killer.

There's no deeming anything, it's a fact. 90% of all killer ultra rares are completely overpowered.

In your opinion. Though you’re bias as all hell, so please do continue to state your opinion as fact.Like honestly, why are you stating your opinion is not a fact. Name 90% of killer ultra rares and why they are OP.

I think both sides need more mechanics to play the game but this is way too OP.
Yes I believe some of the killer addons are also OP but instead of nerfing or reworking them, giving OP tools to the opposite side is not a good way to go. Yeah It could be kinda balanced if you can have this flare gun against an insta down Huntress but imagine having this against an addonless wraith.
Cheap tools are annoying and they shouldn't be in the game. Killers' addons shouldn't make them more powerful imo, they should just allow players to play in other ways like waterlogged shoe+scarred hand hag.

let the obsession only take a flare gun. so only one gun per match. with one shot. so its really rare and should be used wisely instead of attacking the killer with it multiple times.
i also would make all crows on the map fly away if flare gun is fired straight up in the air, and the light fullfill the whole map (that would look damn amazing) - to get more confusion.
OOOOOOR what about the one flare gun projectile can "stop" the entity when he is taking a surv up to the sky? just fire into the center of entitys circle and BAM, he drops his victim. (once more hooked, its still down)
there could be more effects, a flare gun can activate.
uncloack the wraith instantly maybe, or
blind killers without lightborn perk for the time , the projectile is in the air.
disarm hags traps
reset myers D3
get survs out of dreamwolrd (because flaris also can do a high, loud, noise while flying)
show auras of survs, killers, gens, totems, chests, and dropped items at same time while flying (so its better used to fire it high in the air for longer flight time instead in the killers face for short flight time)lots of possibilitys

I've been mulling this one over for days and I do wonder why are there flashlights in chests, especially on super dark maps like Red Forest? I mean unless the entity spawns them in for amusement I almost think chest offerings should be used.
You drop an offering for 1 more chest and would spawn whatever type of item you put an offering for. You could make it like pigs boxes where only 1 chest has your item. Once it's been searched it closes back up until the next person looks through it.
So if you don't put an offering in the item is completely random, but if you put the offering in you get the item you want and it comes with 2 random addons of the same quality. I'm not sure how well that'd work but it would certainly create some more intrigue into the game.
