TF2 is getting a fan-made bug-free update. Can DBD get one too? π
Popular game Team Fortress 2 is getting a fan-made version titled Team Comtress 2, which is essentially a completely bug-free version of the game. It is being made by a coder known as mastercoms. She is doing an absolute great job with it.
Are there any Dead by Daylight fans out there that can code masterfully and would be willing to turn Dead by Daylight into a bug free game?
Imagine that. A community created update to boost the game into the heavens.

I think that even peole that are really good at coding and programming would struggle a lot with this game.
Yeah,but i don't see that happening ever.

I think BHVR has too much Pride to let anyone else code their game.

They can always remake it without making it a spaghetti. Is that not possible? I'm asking because I'm no coder myself.
1 -
I'm not an expert too but i think they would have to remake that game completely in order to deal with this extreme spaghetti code.
It is possible yeah, but that would probably cost way too many ressources considering they kinda have to create a new game.

That's quite exceptional.
You can hope, but the best you could get from them is a: "Never say never, but probably never."
2 -
Not without rebuilding the game from the ground up. Too much got added over the years: Sometimes it seem that DbD code is an inverted pyramid balanced atop a plate of spaghetti sitting in a tub of lard atop a football. I cannot say how it was built or what level the programmers were at, but I don't know anyone who could just magically fix a project that has been altered so much from it's original setting without a complete rebuild. And if someone could do that, then I want them to start teaching classes. Even my old professor wouldn't say no to a few pointers.

Don't forget Left for Dead 2. Same deal.

Speaking of Team Comtress, does our inventory transfer over? Is it a whole new game or it just a Last Stand esque community update.
1 -
I don't think that'll ever happen, I think the company would lose a lot of reputation if they showed their spaghetti.
p.s.does anyone else get sad when you look at TF2? A mix of nostalgia and bitterness at valve

What are all the legalities around this? Would the licenses cause issues?

"Bug free"
LMFAO

"I can dream, Harold."

Is this for real? I haven't heard about it and I'm a big TF2 fan. Then again, VNN does make clickbaity videos occasionally.

Can you imagine spending like a year of your life working your butt off to fix the coding in this game and then BVHR tears it to shreds with their first patch? It's like trying to build the Empire State building while King Kong is still smashing it...
1 -
I believe it is just a major update, not a whole new game. Inventories should transfer.
1 -
It appears to be true. However, it is not supported by Valve yet, at least not until Left 4 Deads community update.

As someone with experience with coding they'd essentially have to remake the entire game say for a few assets, it's possible but would take at least a year, probably more if they keep adding content.

Pride in what, exactly? This game is a rip of Friday the 13th. Someone could literally copy the game, change the names of the characters and perks, and call it theirs. I don't think anyone really needs their permission.
0 -
Rip off of what?
6 -
Do you let strangers wander into your home? They would need to hire them and put them under contract otherwise they become a liability.
Team Fortress is an old game so it has far more flexibility.

Friday the 13th had already been announced as early as 2015, including a trailer for the game itself. Certainly, BHVR released their title first, but it's pretty obvious that it was a rushed job. Can't possibly be a coincidence.

"PewDiePie made a video like this one, so you're obviously ripping off PewDiePie."
1 -
Nope. Just looking at all the evidence.

Well they're certainly not gonna stop making content, but it's still entirely their fault that they willfully chose to neglect basic bugs and opted instead to release new paid content, thereby compounding the issues until it reached this point. Right now, it would be easy to confuse this with a beta.

I so agree with this. But it's not just pride. There are heavy tones of arrogance and condescension.
0 -
Oh yeah absolutely, BHVR absolutely needs to get more bug fixers on board. This is actually kinda sad.
0 -
Which baffles me when I heard someone say on here that BHVR stated they've "Doubled Their Staff."
What staff? What department? Coding? Development? Or Cosmetics?
1 -
BHVR doesn't actually seem like a company that does much of anything itself. They have a number of titles under their belt, and seem as though they simply publish titles, rather than actually developing them. I'm sure they did hire more staff, just not in their DBD division. Just like if Activision hires a bunch more people, odds are they aren't all going to work on World of Warcraft. Whatever staff they got on board with DBD, it's more likely they're marketing and design (or anything in the money/sales department) than the technical staff that fixes bugs.

Good point, so why would they brag that to the DBD Community?

Like any other company out there, they're just doing it for PR. Look at how Blizzard brags about their own titles. Remember that Diablo fiasco a few years back? The guy was working overtime to hype the title, only to reveal it was mobile, and then try to act smart when people questioned them about it, choosing to reply by asking if anybody owns phones or some nonsense. He literally got booed in his own domain. I highly doubt the higher ups at BHVR are any different. One thing is for sure, DBD is just one of their titles, and unless it involves generating more money via a quick-sale cosmetic or a DLC, they don't look twice at the game. It's more of a "when we get around to it" issue at that point. Any other title would be conducting emergency downtime to fix major bugs like what we've seen since the launch of the DLC. I don't even think they gave it a full month of testing before they rushed it out either. I was there on the first day of the testing phase, and he released like 2-3 weeks later. Not even close to enough time, especially considering their focus was on Blight and Felix, so forget any actual bugs that came on the side. What's worse is the fact that the test build didn't seem to have many of these bugs, yet somehow, the final release is riddled with them. Usually I'd ask if they tested these things, but I know they did. I'm just curious how testing actually generated MORE bugs.

Honestly no matter what answer they give its not a good look lmao.
0 -
Honestly, no answer would justify the lack of attention this game has been receiving. =/
1 -
Its not even the lack of attention for me, its the fact everything they do has some big repercussion to it. Like I think the new chapter was amazing but there are soooooooo many bugs and glitches that it actually made the game worse imo. Cosmetics, Minotaur Oni looks sick but there were so many corners cut that I won't even consider buying it.

My main concerns are the servers after cross play was implemented, put more stress on them, hitboxes were affected because of it, latency issues. I'm so tired these latency hitboxes, up to my neck.
1 -
yeah, before it was limited to small killers like Freddy, the latency can make some people huntress with they're range lol.

What people from the community actually work on dbd that way? Also BHVR would never allow that because its BHVR,dont compare Valve that's not only getting that for TF2 but also they legit allowed a community manager team to push a huge l4d 2 update soon.So yeah, huge difference.
0 -
I imagine it's much easier to do on a game like TF2 that isn't receiving frequent updates and new content.
1 -
It happens in movies all the time, so why can't it be a coincidence? It's much more likely that they were both in development at more or less the same time - DbD first, since it released earlier - and were released on schedule.
0 -
Bruh do you know anything about tf2
1 -
I mean the spaghetti code in that game is insane, I donβt say a similar thing could be done for did but nobody would be bothered
