Blight hitbox bug or?

Is the new blight hitbox bugged or not? There are certain objects that when you even hit them head on it won't record as hit in order to keep using power. Example if you try to hit corner of the car or trying to hit a wall from obtuse angle or trying to hit some trees while running the hit does not happened.
So is that intended to be harder to hit object or it is just bugged?
