Losing Rank Progress Because My Team DCs
I play as survivor only, and I've only been playing a few months.
I never DC myself, as I'd rather lose the rank then rudely abandon everyone but it seems that every single teammate I have had recently thinks otherwise.
Downed once? DC.
Being chased? DC.
On a hook for the first time? DC.
Someone else DC'd? DC.
I honestly lose an average of 1.5 teammates per game. I've had 2 games in the past 3 days where all of my teammates DC, leaving me to try and find the hatch. I've been in more matches where someone DCs than ones where nobody does.
Honestly I think we shouldn't have our ranking negatively affected by a player (or 3) disconnecting. I think the optimal fix would be: for every player who DCs, the amount you need to do (as a survivor) for an iridium/gold/silver/bronze medal is multiplied by a fraction.
So like, for iridium lightbringer you need to complete 3 generators. For every person DC'd it would be a certain percent less. Let's say we take off 1/4 of the requirements for every survivor gone becauase they disconnected. If 2 people abandon me and another right as the match starts (has happened) then I only need to complete 2 for an iridium lightbringer medal. This will also help counteract the inevitably low quality survival medal.
The killer's medals probably wouldn't need adjusting since it will be easier to sacrifice us all, but slightly harder to find us (or not idk I don't play killer)

Here is something that I know many of us will ask, why do you care about ranking? It doesn't do anything, it doesn't mean skill.

Personally speaking, I felt a big sense of pride & accomplishment the first time I hit rank 1 on both Survivor & Killer & got to unlock the Steam achievements. Now, it might not matter to people with a lot of game time, or people that have already climbed that mountain, but anyone that hasn't gotten there before, I understand why it matters.
Also, they've added rank reset Bloodpoints rewards now, so getting top rank actually means you get something. A nice little incentive for those that already devote a lot of time to the game.
If the game has a built-in ranking system & matchmaking using said ranking system, it's not that far fetched to think that people playing the game will continue to pay attention to it as well.
There's nothing wrong with a self-admitted newer playing wanting to accomplish in-game goals. Admittedly, the whole system does need an overhaul, and no one is claiming it's a true measure of skill, but it's still something for newer players to strive for.

Well said.
I didn't know there were bloodpoints in it...I just like watching the numbers change. I know it doesn't really mean too much, and I am fairly good at the game overall but it's a measurable goal that I like to pay attention to.

Imo, if anyone DC's, everyone should be given a Black Pip.
You can keep the same scoring system, but the game should automatically prevent Depipping, due to an unfair/incomplete match.

They added the rank reset bp what? They are giving bp for being rank 1?

Oh lol I was like damn, I gotta stay at rank 1 in both sides instead of just memeing most of the time and staying in 2-3.
