How would the introduction of a competive queue change the game?
Title. There's a lot that needs to happen before I think the game could introduce a competitive mode, bugs and balancing still being huge issues, and I kinda doubt it will ever happen, but I think a separate competitive queue could be good.
For one, one of the biggest complaints is SWF. I think a big reason is that SWF, at least from what I've seen, play the game like it's a tournament or something. I personally don't have a problem with SWF, if I lose to one I just kinda take my loss and go to the next game, but a lot of people just play this game casually. They don't wanna deal with the inherent advantage that SWF get compared to Solo.
And as a person who plays exclusively Solo Queue, I also get how incredibly irritating and unfun it can be to play solo. I have no idea how many times I've watched someone urban evasion in the corner while I get first hooked. It's not fun, but again I just take the loss and move on. I've seen a lot of SWF argue that if the killer was notified they would dodge, which is probably true for for a lot of killers, and I feel like a competitive mode would solve a lot of these issues.
Some players are completely fine with more competitive games, and I honestly feel like if they knew what they were getting into, or there were possible better rewards, more people would play competitively. I think what people complain about right now is how SWF's can tend to treat the game, when they're just trying to play the game for fun. Obviously, not every SWF does this, I've seen plenty that just completely meme.
There are plenty of things that need to be fixed, but I just think this would be a good change eventually. This was one rambly post, sorry.
Edit: I shoulda specified, In this 'casual' mode, SWF would probably be disabled or limited to maybe one friend. That may be too harsh, idk. SWF is a hard thing to balance, so I'm open to suggestions or criticisms! That's probably too harsh since some people will want to play the game casually, just with friends. Sweatlords will always be sweatlords, no matter what game it is.

Because the most successful and popular games have only ONE game mode and only ONE queue of course!
For real, I would love this. You can practice weird builds or new killers, mess around with your friends and not worry about de-pipping because they brought a mori.

Sounds good. I'm tired of facing sweats all the time tbh.

I already feel like play in competitive mode this game not meant to be competitive, and if they added competitive mode no one would use it much.

It would change it for the better and open new monetary streams for the company. Those concerned that it would split the Player base are not seeing the bigger picture. People who SWF also play Solo when they can't get their pals. Logistics prevent people from doing good grinds always with friends. Thus, you would have Players doing both. There might be some that only do one or the other, but overall it would not slow things down. Right now Lobby Dodging and Disconnects are doing quite a number of Ques already. Having two Ques one for Solo and one for Teams would simply balance out in the long run.

I don't think much would change unless you disabled certain things in casual. A lot of other games have all the sweatlords invade the casual mode regardless for easier games.

Obviously there would be incentive for it.

I haven't been on the forums that long, do people actually say that? Weird.

Disabling swf in casual mode maybe?

I´d be all for it! Everyone that plays DBD a lot knows the feeling...you wanna have some chill matches only to be faced by the most tryhard opposition imaginable (nothing wrong with that per se) or you´re all hyped up to do some serious slashing only to down a whole team in 2 minutes because they´re more casual.
Splitting to 2 qeues with certain adjustments would be really great. I´m worried that the notorious bullying BM SWF squads would hijack the casual qeue to have even easier prey, though.

That was something I probably shoulda specified, yeah. In a 'casual' queue, SWF would be disabled. Might be too harsh, I don't know. SWF is a really hard thing to balance.

That would never fly, literally over half the games have a 2-, 3- or 4-person swf. Being able to play with your friends is a huge part of the game.
I think as long as the new matchmaking system properly increases the ratings of groups that include swfs that would help keep them facing relativelu tougher killers than the all solo groups face. No need for a separate queue that would introduce a bunch of other problems like splitting the playerbase and balancing differently for the different queues, etc.

Yeah, that's a big thing so I made a bit of an edit to specify that SWF would either be limited or completely disabled in a casual gamemode. That's probably way too harsh, but SWF is a really tough thing to balance, so I have no idea. If that happens, it get's rid of the people who want to play casually but with friends.

Yeah that´s a tough one for sure....

Hmm true if swfs start having tremendous queue times the devs might lose some money.

That's a good point. It's not just in this game, in any game a team of friends are probably gonna have an advantage, but DbD is so unique that I feel it's probably harder to balance.

What killer would be like "Yeah, I'm going to line up in the Competitive Queue!" There'd be no killers there. So competitive mode would be a survivor lobby simulator.
0 -
I disagree.. theres killers that enjoy competitive gameplay..
2 -
Plenty. I know I would. The key thing is a Que for that can be balanced with additional objectives or Perk Slots unlocked for the Killer without messing things up for the Solo. Killers are fine with a challenge. They just want to KNOW and have a level playing field.

Worse, the devs say that...

I think it's unfair to assume every killer wants to play casually. I would enjoy a competitive queue as long as I knew what I was getting into. Besides, as long as there were incentives - maybe exclusive 'competitive' skins, or even auric cells I think more people would play.

In game incentives exist. Take archive challenges for example. Do you think I want to kill 4 survivors in the basement for fun?
0 -
Ooof. I did not know that. Haven't they also said they want this game to have E-Sports presence? That can't really happen without competitive mode.
0 -
I think saying that is just a marketing tactic to build up hype. The game is nowhere near balanced or e-sports ready, and I don't think they're going to put in the massive amount of work to overhaul it.

Unfortunately, yeah. As good as I think a competitive mode would be, I don't see it happening.

thent he normal mode would be dead or in other words solo would be dead, solo survivor woulod be able play anymore because most be playing competitive mode no one would be playing the old normal mode.
or
this would kill swf because killer would know competitive mode is (SWF) which killer still to the normal mode which in the end would kill the game.
edit long story short
survivor would want to play in competitive mode play with they friends most killer don't want to face sweaty SWF team will want to play in casual mode no one would get to play.
