How reworked maps could be tied to the Entity's power
Greetings, everyone.
I'll start by saying that, yes, this is a fan theory and, like most theories, it's just an idea. Now, let's talk about it.
Not so long ago, many different maps received both minor and major changes, like, for example, reducing their tiles, removing infinite loops, etc. However, I'd like to concentrate more on the Realms that have been changed the most: Léry's Memorial Institute, Springwood, Yamaoka Estate and, very soon, The MacMillan Estate.
All of these received many different tweaks graphically, making everything darker, more corrupted rotten. Considering that they previously existed only on some characters memories and dimensions, could it mean the Entity is gaining more power over both Killers and Survivors minds, thus controlling everyone and everything better, while feeding from hope, rage, fear?
Let me know what you think about it.

I wouldn't even say it's more control, just getting more details from them.

I'm inclined to think The Entity is becoming more powerful, and yet not so sure if it's in methods of control. Moreover, it feels like it's toying with both killers and survivors by changing environments, causing more uncertainty or design issues.
The Entity would probably want to have killers and survivors have control to a degree, otherwise it would be like controlling puppets and not getting the amount of "food" it ideally requires.
But I agree it is changing as a result of its engrossing influence.

Possible that the longer you are there the more detail is pulled from your mind. the more you are sacrificed the more it knows. The more it knows the better it can trick you and instill false hope.
I don't think mind control is something the entity does as this essentially removes hope by removing choice.
(Although I do appreciate that you might not mean that sort of control)
I believe it needs the survivors and the killer to have free will.
Some killers are described as doing as they like, which displeases the entity but it doesn't appear to punish them for it.
The entity takes a broken or corrupt person as the killer but seems to ensure the killers favourite plaything is taken to its realm to motivate the killers.

The entity canonically messes with the minds of killers and survivors.
While the 'all memories of trials are removed from survivors' has pretty much been retconned by now, we have a number of killers the entity tricks into killing. 'plaything' might be the wrong word

How was that retconned?

Gotta look up some quotes, but there seems to be more talk about what survivors and killers can and can't do.

They really should release a list with the infos they are willing to share and we need a lore stream.

it could be possible that if survivors managed to escape from the trials, they keep their memories, it's only when they're killed or sacrificed that they lose their memories all the way to the moment when they were adducted.
it's possible that survivors could escape more than once and learn more about the realm and did some things before they were killed.
Killers (the ones who are willing to kill for the Entity) obviously keep their memories and see survivors as those to torment.

Some killers (those with black eyes/sclera) seem to have been messed up by the entity, perceiving the survivors as something else. so it's debatable how many of their memories they retain.
Like, with Huntress it might be that she solely sees the clothes differently, tricking her into thinking its plain intruders, with something she can't name compelling her to hook them.
Deathslinger sees everyone as Bayshore etc. so he'd catch on after a while.
