I’m deeply concerned for current gen console players that can’t switch to next gen soon after launch
I’m very fortunate. I secured my launch day PS5 here in Australia before they were sold out nation wide. I’ve figuratively got my fingers tightly crossed that playing DBD on PS5 will have a dramatic performance improvement.
But 4.3.0. has me deeply concerned for other DBD current gen console players that WANT to upgrade to next gen, but may not be able to do that due to unprecedented demand/stock shortages, or financial reasons, or whatever, for the next 6 to 12 months (or longer).
If the devs need to support current gen for that long a period of time, while concurrently updating the game for next gen, how are they going to cope with that?! Especially if the majority of current console DBD players transition slowly to next gen consoles?
If patch after patch over the next 6 to 12 months focused on updating the game to meet/match more modern standards for next generation hardware, results in what we’re seeing in 4.3.0: the game simply struggling to run in an acceptably playable state on current gen consoles, BHVR are going to lose a SIGNIFICANT portion of their player base before those players are able to jump to the next PlayStation or Xbox.

honestly I think you should be concerned about PS5 performance as well man 🥕

yeah, console players are pretty ignored at this point, can't even imagine what will become the actual old gen optimization (promised around December 2018) when next gen comes out.

I wouldn't get hopes up for next gen being much better. At most I see it probably being nice for first couple months after release but that's it. I won't be getting ps5 for a bit - just closed on house last week so next gen isn't really top priority with all the new house expenses I have right now, especially when my ps4 runs any game aside from DBD just fine.

I think the 2018 console optimization has been scrapped TBH. Its possible next gen systems were announced and they decided it didn't make sense financially or resource wise to move forward.
"Let's focus on ps5.. everyone will have one by cinco de mayo.." Just speculation, of course.

scrapped? probably but never said a word about it. It probably happened the same thing that happened with dedicated servers: they made a promise with a deadline, without knowing actually how much hard the task was, especially considering that devs are pretty incompetent.

What does more than 5 times minimum wage mean? Hourly? Monthly? Yearly?

Well.. i mean.. how attatched are you to your kidney?

Ouch that's a big investment. Hopefully the price drops quickly where you live.
I'm not even considering buying a ps5 when the price is about 8 days minimum wage (after tax). I'd prefer to just buy a better PC.

If the game doesn't cause it to immediately catch fire then that's probably good enough.

I'm worried the game won't be optimized on next-gen consoles and then we'll have to deal with multiple separate and small playerbases (PS4, XB1, PS5, and XSX/S).
If the current gen playerbase shrinks when next gen comes out, I hope it's not immediately after they launch because Target's earliest ETA is the day after launch, November 13th (which is probably because Veterans Day is the day before the PS5 launches) and I'd like to see how DBD performs on it for myself.
Also I don't want to deal with 20+ minute queues for either side at any rank.

These were my presumptions too

Well in fairness they said they were working on console optimisation, not current gen console optimisation.

Cross play has definitely put them in a bind. They now have to commit that all content and updates are the same across the board. That either means limiting what they do for the official next gen release of DBD (whenever that hits, probably 2021), or releasing content that struggles to run on current gen.

I remember reading that the next-gen update for DBD releases with the new consoles (So Nov 10th if you're on Xbox and Nov 12th if you're on PS5).

I’m old but I don’t even see The need/reason to get a ps5.

I’m almost certain they said next gen version was sometime 2021, and that current version is confirmed backwards compatible

Still though it’ll be sad if that happens. There’s still nothing quite like DBD, and when it works, it works, and is a total blast.

I'm trying to get my hands on the Xbox Series X. Everywhere I've looked is sold out at the moment... 😐️

It’s just been crazy all around the globe. The demand for all new generation consoles has been unprecedented. And the new problem consumers and retailers are having to deal with: bot scalper accounts automatically purchasing as much product as possible.
Like I said, I was lucky. Australia sold out of day 1 PS5’s in under 4 hours. Xbox Series X sold out in 30 MINUTES!!! NATIONALLY.

I’ve had relationships that ‘work when they work’. Notice that was past tense. Some ppl stick with something because of the ‘idea’ of it being something amazing. Usually it’s just a drawn out set of disappointments that end up costing you your coffee maker in the divorce. You can get another relationship. You can’t get another coffee maker.

I'm worried about them, too. I was also fortunate enough to pre order a PS5, but I've been wondering about what will happen with current gen console users. I don't think they'll completely abandon them, but I don't see them paying that much attention to them either.
I was thinking that the console optimization they were talking about will hopefully be for next gen, if they do it at all.
