Yui is lesbian, right?
I know the devs said they were bringing LGBT our way but havent admitted to who yet.
But I feel Yui was made lesbian from the start. She has the closest ties to seemingly enjoying company of woman.
Theres a lot more here I just cant express in words. Maybe someone else can help?
Anywho, I look forward to her rift cause I feel her lore will be the day to celebrate. ❤️

Tbh I was expecting Nea to be the first LGBT survivor (I don't mean to enforce stereotypes but come on, just look at her) but so far there hasn't been any evidence of her being so. Other than that I can't really decide who I would think was LGBT. Maybe Zarina? None of them seem to have any obvious tells about their sexuality.

Being a strong woman that stands up for female rights does not make someone a lesbian.
She might be, she might not be. We'll have to wait and see if they ever say.

None of them seem to have any obvious tells about their sexuality.
Because there are none (besides actual displays of sexual attraction); there are only stereotypes.
21 -
I mean plenty of straight women have tons of female friends and hangout strictly with only women. The point you brought up in no way suggests she's a lesbian.
8 -
Actually, there are a lot of characters with tells about their sexuality.
Felix has a girlfriend and a son, Frank and Julie are a couple and apparently really love each other based on their lore, David had a girlfriend in his tome lore, Nurse had a husband whose death strongly affected her, and Nurse and Wraith have cosmetics indicating a relationship between them.
The issue BHVR wanted to address was that all relationships that are hinted at are heterosexual ones.
I'm personally all for trying to keep sexuality as much out of DBD as possible, but BHVR have said they wanted to do something and I'm all for it. So far though, nothing has happened (to the best of my knowledge).

That's true. I still sense it in her design. This is a made up character and not saying anything towards real life. Just a behind the scene vibe I get about the whole of Yui..not just the female friendships.

Dwight still hasn't come out of a locker 🤣

She can be whatever you want baby 😎

Imagine hanging out with your bros and being called a homosexual because you aren't blatantly making out with the opposite sex.
Edit: She was also attacked by a man in her backstory so it'd be in bad taste to make her the resident lesbian. Because men bad!

i get that read on her as well! i'm watching yui, nea, zarina, and of course dweet and david pretty closely waiting to see who'll be confirmed first. if the devs wanna premiere an already popular ship, kingfield's right there for the taking. but personally ever since i saw this banner of nea and yui together they've been my favorite conceptual pairing. 💞

This matters... Why again?
Not that it's a bad thing, just why does anyone care about the sexuality of a horror games character?

i mean-
i know felix has a wife and all but he might do a phillip schofield on us and come out gay XD (
pls get the joke)4 -
I don't think that matters anymore.
In their current positions I think of all survivors as asexual since that kinds of relationship is the last of their worries.
As for killers, well, I GUESS at least Wraith and Nurse have SOME KIND of feelings for each others, as for other killers, including the ones we'll never see, I guess the Entity allows them to do any kinds of twisted things in trials as long as they contribute to the main task

David is straight as revealed by his lore. Yes he could be bisexual, but we have no evidence of that and likely won't for a good long while. So at this point we just know he's at least straight.
4 -
having dated a woman doesn't say as much as you think, plenty of gay men don't come out until later in life especially ones who present hypermasculine like david does. it's a societal reaction more than an expressed internal truth to a lot of people.
1 -
Projection/representation. People want characters that reflect themselves in some fashion and want to live vicariously through them. So while at the end of the day they're just a skin, what they represent can be just as important.
Like metal fans liking Jeff, or people that like cute things leaning towards Feng.
Though gay is also seen as a personality trait like hating mustard, so it could be handled very poorly. Give them something too flamboyant and consistently giving only them the flamboyant cosmetics could be seen as favortism or stereotyping.
6 -
I understand that people like that exist. But we also have to understand that just because a man dated a woman in the past, it doesn't mean he's also secretly gay and closeted either.
I don't think it was the devs intention when writing that piece of lore for David to be a closeted gay man. Especially as there is no other point in his lore that eludes to that.
If anything, the LGBT character is likely one that hasn't recieved their tome yet. As the devs will likely mention that aspect in their lore to be inclusive.
Regardless, seeing as David and Dwight already received their tomes, it's going to be a long while before we get more lore for them.

Does it really matter is she is a lesbian or not ? in the end it all came down to she escape the realm or get hooked and sacrificed to the entity...
6 -
It matters to me because they keep posting about heterosexual relationships. And they stated they would start adding LGBT ones. As a member of that comunity I am glad to be seen. 🎃

I don't get it; I'm sorry T-T
This is unrelated, but I love how Yui looks at the giant raging demon bursting through a wall like he's an annoyance. That facial expression oozes a lot more "Ugh, what now?" than it does "WHAT THE [BAD WORD]!?"
2 -
I'm pretty sure the canonical lesbian confirmation came before Yui's release. I would've thought it to be Meg or Nea, but there was no indication whom it was beyond a dev saying that one of the of the survivors was a lesbian. There's no romantic background in any survivor's story so far.

As far as I know they never said for a fact a lesbian was what they would be adding. Also Yui was already out when they pledged this. Unless they pledged it twice?
And ugh..Meg...🎃

LOL same, it's almost a meme how consistently unafraid of oni she is. i still remember her staring him down during their release trailer and knowing instantly i'd need to P3 her as soon as i could.
3 -
Devs said we can make our own canons on everyone sexuality.
Ace is Ace dont @ me. Dude got no time for anyone, just looping and money :-)

If you want her to be one, then she is.
If you don't want her to be one, then she isn't.
At least, I like to think it could be that simple (though I'm sure someone somewhere will still find a problem even with this).
At the end of the day, the survivors (and killers) are just avatars for the players. They can act and think however you want. David x Dwight can be a thing, or Tapp & Huntress, or Nea = Entity, or none of those.
Personally, my theory is that the Fog is basically a multiverse where the official lore only truly applies to one out of infinite versions of these characters (hence why you can have multiple survivor "clones" in the same match, or bold Claudettes and cowardly Megs). Anything goes as far as I'm concerned.

I'm still hoping if someone is revealed to be a lesbian it's Feng Min ( mainly because I ship her with Kate)
It would also be a less of a stereotype to make Feng lesbian. (Nea people often say has a stereotypical look of a lesbian and Yui having a female biker gang and standing up for women's rights means lesbian seems a little bit stupid)
However I could see them going with the stereotypical routes

Yee, same.
The deciding factor for me was that one of her perks is literally just lifting dropped pallets back up, but I love how she just gives absolutely zero [BAD WORD]. Instant decision to P3.
2 -
IDK, that’s an interesting theory, but she does have acrylic nails so...

so phillip schofield is an English television presenter who works for ITV and he suspected that he was gay when he got married to his wife and has kept the secret for a long time, even after he has had kids and came out as gay after years of being in the closet
here is the video if you want to watch it

I hadn't heard anything about that. Thanks for the info and link.

I'm sorry, why are we projecting sexuality on Yui?
and is there no reason to celebrate other things in life on any other day?
11 -
inclusivity should be ongoing and plentiful so that whether it's 'stereotypical' or not ceases to matter at all, judging who should or shouldn't be gay by how they measure up to that perception just isn't realistic imo. feng and kate and yui and nea could all be gay, it's not a competition, just different outward expressions, y'know? also, cute ship! 👍
2 -
Why?
4 -
Is this the "strong female character must be a lesbian" thing? When is her rift anyway? Has it been announced shes next?
5 -
yeah, im gonna be super surprised if Nea isn't revealed to be trans or bi or something in this archive
3 -
To me Yui is a lesbian:)
2 -
I don't mind if some are part of the LGBTQ+ community (I'm also a part of this community) but to keep the game from getting criticism based on certain survivors sexual preference. They've decided to just keep sexuality out of the game so problems don't arise.
3 -
They added a shirtless David for you guys.
1 -
As long as people aren't forcing their own opinion on what character is what sexuality, I won't care. Just don't try forcing your own lore into pre-existing lore.
4 -
Could be press on, could be a bottom... You find ways.

To anyone saying „why does it matter, it’s only a videogame“:
why exactly does it matter to you if there will be chars confirmed as LGBT+? It shouldn’t affect you at all, it’s just another mentioning in the lore you can easily ignore, just like you are ignoring that Kate is a musician or Feng was a pro gamer or Nurse was married to a man.
Head canons won’t be affected either, it’s common that head canons ignore some official lore tidbits, that’s okay.
5 -
They have revised their statement on this though, they said since some chars have already been confirmed to have had heterosexual relationships, LGBT+ topics won’t be explicitly excluded anymore.
they announced this with a small tweet during pride month this year, because they got questions about this topic.
2 -
Why do you have to bring sexualities and all this LGBT stuff into a video game like DbD? 😒 At least leave it out from here #########
5 -
I've always kind've seen Nea/Meg being a bit of a thing, personally. Dwight/David seems to be extremely popular, and besides the "touch value" or visuals of it, I see it not really happening tbh.
I'm sure some relationships would form between many of them at some point inside of the purgatory-like state they're in though.
1 -
Too late for that, the Nurse was released years ago. Curious how nobody complained about her, though...

I heard rumors of Claudette being in Tome VI.

if u wanna call a bunch of millions of polygons a lesbian, go ahead, do it
5 -
It's a fictional character with certain characteristics, no different from Harry Potter or Gimli. Saying she's "a bunch of millions of polygons" completely ignores how fiction works.
6 -
I understand how the abstract fantasy works but arguing and spending energy about the sexuality n such is useless, although you give a lot of importance to the gender identity since defined urself as bisex
