My story of disappointment with this game
I learned of DbD right from the start, and inatantly fell in love with the game. But circumstances wouldn't let me play it until October of 2018, right before the Halloween event. I started playing and from then on I really invested a lot of time in the game.
I really loved that event. People complained, but I was thrilled to be finally playing this game, and I had fun trying to get the serum to buy those AWESOME skins.
I kept playing during 2019, even bought some DLCs... When the new Halloween event came, I was a bit more mature player and understood a bit more of the problems with the game. Still loved it, of course, but I was aware of the imperfections. But I still liked the Halloween event - all of it. I even bought the Rift Pass, cause I wanted to invest more than money into my favorite hobby. I liked the skins, yes, but I wouldn't buy the pass if this were the only reason. The pass was my way to thank BHVR for the great (even if imperfect) game.
I played a lot more since then, even managing to complete all of the rifts. In the process, I started to get more and more immersed in the problems of the game - and yet, more and more my impression was that BHVR was not caring enough to rectify them... Most of all, I was disappointed with the last update - but hey, Halloween is here, and BHVR always nails their Halloween events, right?
Boy, I was wrong!!!
Never before I've played an event in this game that was so inane. Almost nothing in the game changed to even reflect the fact that "hey folks, it's Halloween". If you don't invest your hard earned in game currency or even your real life money to buy the blighted skins, you only get the event offering and items, which is problematic because:
- the offering only really benefits you with BP if lots of players use them in the match, and even then there are lots of better offerings to get BP;
- without using the offering, almost nothing changes on the match - I've played lots of matches where I've not even seen one special event hook/generator;
- the new items are the same, except for the new add-ons - but as a Killer main, I will have to think twice before investing bloodpoints on a killer, because what if I can't use them all during the event?
But the last nail in the coffin came today, after I had already spent my iridescent shards on a piece of outfit from the event - after all, this year we wouldn't gain any of them through other means, right?
Well, it seems that if I have waited just a few hours, I would have been able to buy ALL of it instead of just one piece. It seems that BHVR decided to correct some of their mistakes, compensating the community with something to make this event somewhat interesting - but as this was not planned, or at least it was not something they told us beforehand, people like me that decided to buy the new skins as soon as possible just lost a lot of money (in-game or otherwise.
And to add insult to injury, I KNOW, from past experiences, that I and everybody else in a similar situation will not be reimbursed or in any form compensated for this lose caused only by a really bad communication.
This event encapsulates most of the problems I've encountered in this game for 2 years now, and I'm really, really tired of it.
Sorry for the long rant and bad English (not a native language to me), but I wanted to share my disappointment...

My story of disappointment begins with spending over 500 hours with this game to earn Legacy skins, only for BHVRs poor saving system to wipe my data and for me to lose every ounce of hardwork I put into it, including the skins I dumped a small portion of my life for.
And they continue to refuse to correct the issue for whatever reason they choose not to be transparent about, despite the fact the issue is entirely their fault.
There's a reason I fell out of this game, and it's because they proved they don't care about their long time playerbase.
