I need help

I need help encoraging a new killer to stay that isn't something along the lines of take a break and come back later.

I am a rank 12 survivor and I'm currently solo playing while I wait for my friend to wake up. I just played a game with 3 rank 1 survivors who were obviously friends and a rank 20 killer and they tortured the poor person.

Flash lights, check, DS, check, body blocking, check, pallet stuns, check, not doing any of the objectives just giving the killer a hard time? Double check.

I got the gens done on my own while watching this mess thanks to my perks and I let the killer kill me cause I just felt so bad.

End of the game I see our line up and that the killer was also an Xbox player so I sent them a message just saying how sorry I was and its not always like that and I get a message saying they are new and really want to play killer but out of the 10 games they have played 6 have been like this.

I'm trying to encourage them to stay, but apparently wait times without cross play are a joke and the last few killers I've befriended who "took a break" haven't come back. I play other games with them now.

I don't want this person to quit, we need more killers in this game, what advice can I give them?

And this isn't a case of just get good, their new, so please leave that out. Thanks

I'm afraid there is no way to convince people to stay when the game is this messed up. 3 R1's facing a brand new killer should not happen. Ever. Yet in order for that to work a proper MM needs to be invented.

Unfortunately that kind of is the game in general as a killer

You almost have to go into it knowing you're going to have to take your lumps before it gets better. For the most part, all of those things are things you learn how to handle and counter as you gain experience.

All you can do is be respective towards the person playing the killer role my friend be the diffence you want to see.

Also I saulte you for seeing these actions and understanding how messed up it is no new killer should undure red ranks. Its unfair borderline unhealthy will twist their view point either they will meet it with horrible attitude or scummy play and I don't blame them.

If both you and them are comfortable with it, you could always befriend them and essentially be one of their "DbD buddies". If you happen to know a few people who also play the game, you could populate a KYF lobby and create a scenario that might help them to learn their role a little more effectively. I did this a couple times with people on Xbox in the past, though most of them seem to have moved on to other games by now.

If that suggestion is more commitment to a random new player than you want to take on (which is totally understandable, they are just some stranger on the internet after all), you could always tell them about various content creators and wiki pages that they might be able to use as resources for tips, tricks, and improvement instead. I know I would have been a significantly worse player (and probably had a rougher time learning the ropes) when I first started out had I not been so heavily exposed to tutorial-esque content from guys like Ussylis, Scott Jund, and even TydeTyme (way back when he still had a positive opinion of DbD) before I bought the game.

Thank you for the suggestion, I already suggested some videos for them and just sent them a message asking if they would want to do a customer Match when my friend gets on. I'm hoping that helps.

    Thank you again

Yeah this game isn't very new player friendly unfortunately. Tell him to try Freddy, that killers relatively easy to master and he'll have a much easier time with him compared to other killers.

I've Been encoraging them not to tunnel or face camp and not to disconnect because apparently some of the toxic survivors are also xbox players and have told them to just dc next time and even said if you face camped me you would have killed me haha.

I'm suggesting videos on how to deal with this right now and gonna try a custom match with them

There's not much you can do really. It's down to the individual player themselves to decide wether or not the game is worth continuing to invest into. And the further you go into ranks, the worse it honestly gets. If your friend thinks they can't handle the toxic behaviour from other players, then it may be best to support their decision to leave the game. Nobody should be made to feel stressed or unhappy from playing a game.

Just to let you know the tutorial isn't helpful even myself has face camped back in the day when I was new jesus I was a terror I used to snack survivors on the hook thinking that would make them due faster lol honestly it's not new players fault god bless them they deal with alot tbh.

All we can do is be nice understand the frustration.

Practice and it won't bother him. Killer at this point in the game history has never been easier. He needs to accept he can't win every game, especially being new.

This wasn't about them winning, it was about survivors being toxic for most of his games, we all know with practice you will get better. I was asking for advice on how to help him not give up, not a get good comment. So yeah thanks for that.
