Couldn't have said it better myself.
Just wanted to share this video.

I agree with everything he said. His reasoning is why I only purchase things with Shards and Blood Points.
Behavior got lucky with this game. It is one of a kind with no competition and it has the potential to rival the bigger games from companies like ActiBlizzturd, Rockstar, Epic and EA. The problem is, they're focusing too much on money and not enough on the fun aspect of the game.
If they really cared about their customers, they would have rewrote the code from the ground up in order to fix all of its issues. It's obvious their patchwork isn't working.
I really hope a bigger and better studio takes notice and comes out with a similar game soon.

Watched the video and it made me think a bit about it but i mean i've never spent money on skins and such in dbd. I do buy the new dlcs when they come out because i enjoy playing them and it's only a few dollars every 3 months. The thing is it's been like this since the in-game store launched.

Honestly, agree with everything he has said. He's so on the nail with it. DbD feels like it's trying to follow these 'trends' that other dev companies have gone down and it's now finally coming back to bite them hard. I've left the game completely now after my 2 years of playing. I'm a PS4 player, and I tolerated the many bugs and issues for too long. The fact the FPS issue is still going was bad enough, but to then encounter a hacker in my game who abused pallets (Dropping them while down to stop me), then speeding away while I was stunned, to only follow with me being DC'ed from my own match to receive a 72 hour ban, despite the fact I never DC in my matches. That was the straw that broke the camels back. In my eyes, the devs have lost sight of what made this game amazing. I'll always hold DbD close to my heart, because I've loved the gameplay and fun I've had. I've made some fantastic friends from playing matches and I'll always treasure those memories, but enough is enough for me. I'll still stick around the forums and hold out the tiniest spark of hope things might get better, but I won't hold my breath anymore.

Agree, the idea of the rift being the same grinding experience, no event for halloween (this is not an event), one game mode, bugs... video explains it pretty well. I love this game but im only losing interest in playing it lately :(

I could go into a detailed analysis of why i agree with this dude, but it's just easier to simply state; He is not wrong, on any of his points.
12 -
I hope the game changes course, i don't hate the devs but damn it's hard to make me like them when we constantly get bugs in the game and stay in for years and they joke about it like it's okay, it should be embarrassing.
5 -
Oh god, I love comparing billion dollar companies with 10s of millions of players to dbd.
1 -
It becomes really embarrassing when he points out DbD only has the one mode. I've pointed out before that I get more from other games, including free events, while their paid DLC is fewer in number and cheaper. Some of the main descriptions of DbD are "buggy," "too grindy," and "frustrating." None of those are what a video game should be known for, much less all three at once, and especially not with the large amount of monetization present.
12 -
He said in the video that he isn't comparing the quality of other games to dbd but the price, saying that the price of dbd and its content is more than the other more quality f2p games.
6 -
That's not the point I'm making, these are billion dollar companies, with hundreds of millions of players, they can charge what they want and still make their money back because there are so so so many more people playing their games than what BHVR has playing their game.
0 -
Then why Is behavior charging more than them? Their dlc is free while dead by daylights is not and on top of that dbd has heavy monetization with skins and battle passes, and they don't compensate with good gameplay or stable optimization either. Bad game with bad business practices.
7 -
Its a fair comparison since Behavior monetizes the game as if it was a billion dollar game when it is more like a game made by some college students in their moms basement.
8 -
It's almost like you don't understand how a business works.
they're chasing licenses, they either have to make the money back or die as a company.
If you have millions and millions of players vs 50 - 100 thousand players you either need to guarantee all of the people who play buy the dlc or charge a little more.
Look at it like this, i'll make it really easy for you.
Say you have 10 people playing your game (BHVR), you put out a DLC that cost you £100 to make, you can sell the DLC at £5 each, which means you'll never make your money back, or you sell it at £10 and break even.
Now look at it the other way, you have 100 people playing your game, and you put out a DLC that costs you £100 to make, you can charge £1 each and still break even, you can even charge less than other companies using the same model for a fraction of the price the smaller playerbase is paying.
Just because you're a smaller game doesn't make things cheaper to make, but it certainly impacts how many people might buy a DLC and how much needs to be charged to at least break even.

I'm still amazed people can still simp for BHVR after everything. The lack of optimization, this cash grab of an "event", and generally how frustratingly ignorant of their own game the balance team has been.
8 -
Thankfully I know I don't have to buy any clothing to keep playing the game, incredible realisation.
0 -
Then by your logic dbd is bound to die, they are not producing quality content for their game and continuing to make you pay for it.
3 -
Seems like a lot of people are buying it to me.
The vocal minority often are louder than the people who just buy the dlc and play it and don't come onto the forums to have discussions about it.

I have a feeling you didn't watch the full video or just didn't listen to what he had to say, they game isn't dying but the patterns they are displaying shows that they will if they continue what they are doing.
4 -
Lmao what?
I'm having a discussion with you, completely separate from the video, yes the conversation started because of the video but has continued on it's own without it, the video is irrelevant at this point.

But I like the skins doe
0 -
That's fine, but they should really do major "game health" overhaul to focus on optimizing the game and weeding out all the bugs so the future of the IP can grow safely.
6 -
100% agree. The game needs to pull a Siege Operation Health and just spend time fixing the game and not making new content.
6 -
One word, licenses
This monititation "problem" isn't a choice of BHVR it's a necesity. These things aren't cheap
Tbh for all the purchases to be purrely cosmetics is actually really commendable. You can perfectly play the game without ever buying anything from the store. And never feel less then someone who has.
That DbD can be buggy is a complaint i can get behind even if i personally don't experience it myself. The atrosios frame rate on ps4 and console in general is a reason to complain. No colorblind features are a reason to complain.
Complaining about the monitisation? I'm sorry but imo that's the community that got greedy, not BHVR

I really think the perks that come out with each dlc should be free or make the original characters free and still make use pay for the licensed characters but just getting away from the pay to win aspect is all i want and also not having game breaking bugs not being in the game would be great, i'd be willing to pay for a skin or 3 if that were the case cause i like rewarding pro consumer products but right now they are asking too much for a subpar live service imo.
1 -
Right, but covering your costs is only part of what determines the correct price for your product -- the other part is the relative value of what you have to offer. From the company's POV, of course they want to make a profit, but, if they've extended themselves too far, then the value of what they produce can be less than the cost they incurred to produce it. I think that's essentially what the argument in the video is -- that the quality of the product people are getting is not equal to what they're being asked to pay for it, and that's worrying, because it could be a sign that BHVR extended itself too far and doesn't have enough resources to continue maintaining the game.
Essentially, DBD is bad value for money right now and, unless they find a way to add more value or lower the price, the numbers will start to drop off.
5 -
Video is on point for reasons why I'm worried for DBD's future. A lot of these are long standing issues that just seem to get worse. Hopefully it gets saved before it starts to get too ugly, but with the current atmosphere and attitudes it really does not feel like it will.

Look at Blight, they still haven't fixed his height, or his collisions.
I guarantee a new killer will be released before they touch him again (if ever).
Also - who buys killer skins for cash? - you can't even see them in the main game, only on the waiting screen. It's ridiculous.
1 -
Well, valid points. I do understand that BHVR is a smaller company and needs to break even with their license content. I'm proud of the devs for making it that far and I appreciate them making an effort to go back and revamp old maps and killers and perks.
I like some of the bugs, I gotta admit. Theyre pretty funny, like when there was a hole in the killer shack and Id run through, and the killer and I would just stare at it for a moment.
But I do agree, even the funny bugs are still embarrassing to have in a game meant to submerge you in fear and immersion. I also find myself really frustrated when I get caught on odd large edges, hit by whales thrown by Huntress, or Dead Hard only to still be hit mid-dash yet I have the exhaustion.
I would be totally forgiving and understanding and supportive if they took a few months to just take a step back and work on the game's health. I would be okay with going without a new chapter or a new map, or a new rift. I just wanna see the game's health go up because its extremely important.
I guess I've just grown indifferent. I dont complain much, I just play less and go about my business. If I get frustrated, I just go elsewhere because I sometimes feel like my voice would be too small to be noticed.
