BHVR anti-consumer discount practice
First people bought characters with auric cells as they didn't expect them to be discounted shortly after the Halloween Event had started.
3 days after the start of the Halloween Event, most characters have been discounted by 50%.
Now, just a few days after the start of the aforementioned discount, all DLCs except of the newest ones are discounted even further on Steam. Again, making all purchases you have made in the past few days, a terrible deal by comparison.
Let's take a look at the Spirit DLC for instance:
Halloween Event (21. October): 1000 auric cells (10€) or 7€ on Steam (with exclusive item)
Halloween Sale (24. October): 500 auric cells (5€) or 7€ on Steam
Steam sale: (29. October): 500 auric cells (5€) or 3,50€ on Steam (with exclusive item)
Some people have bought a single character for 500 auric cells (5€) at the beginning of the Halloween Event, only for them to now be able to get BOTH characters, as well as an exclusive item, for 3,50€.
BHVR is not responsible for starting the Steam sale, but they have full control over the discounts they make during said sale. Furthermore they have known well in advance which discounts they would provide during the Steam sale. And the worst part of it all? BHVR refuses to offer refunds despite their "scammy" discount approach.
I know of no company that refuses to refund the price difference to players who have bought DLCs right before they went on sale, aside from BHVR. I have bought the Silent Hill DLC a few days ago for 7€. And guess what? Steam is going to refund me the money that I overpaid since the sale started. Because that's what companies do if they have any respect for their consumers whatsoever.
Please call BHVR out for what they are doing: Being deliberately anti-consumer. This isn't about patches and balance which are always a matter of opinion. This is about BHVR refusing to treat their playerbase with respect.
Sure it's written in their EULA that they don't offer refunds, but that doesn't change a single thing about their practice.

There's a rule in gaming that you should NEVER buy something on release day. This goes for macrotransactions as well. The skins will remain on display for all to see the entire event, so why not wait a week or two first before making the decision to buy them? BHVR have shown to be shady in their practices and they shouldn't be supported to begin with. At least not via the purchase of their macrotransactions and Rift.

You're definitely right. I wanted to buy them sooner rather than later simply because I wanted the perks and/or killer characters to play with. I haven't been playing for 2 years so I admittedly didn't know or remember much of their shady practices.
Either way, lesson learned. From now on I'll resort to Steam whenever possible when I know BHVR is the publisher/developer, since Steam is much more consumer friendly. I still wish BHVR would at least offer a refund of the auric cells after one has also purchased the DLC on Steam (or in-game store) due to a discount (like within 1 or 2 weeks after the intial purchase).

The communication around the sales was all messed-up. They just had a weird blog post that they kept silently updating, without tracking the changes they made. So, first it vaguely said the characters would go on sale in the in-game store at some point, then it sounded like the in-game sale would be the 27th, then it sounded like Steam would put the DLC on sale on the 27th, then the forum mods confirmed the DLC sale would start on the 29th, but meanwhile the in-game store sale started on the 27th with no fanfare...
I had two characters I needed to buy, and I got them for $5 during the in-game sale, and I'm fine with that, but I don't understand why the messaging about this stuff had to be so confusing.

You're not making the gaming industry better through pre-ordering games, just saying.
Thanks to Cyberpunk's consistent delays I won't be buying it on release. My hype for the game have basically vanished.
