I've Climbed Mt. Myers: Rank-1 At Last

I know this is kind of self-indulgent, tooting one's own horn, but I worked hard for this accomplishment. For some of you, who have been here for four years, this will seem a trivial thing. I set a goal for myself. I wanted to play only Myers as a Killer and go all the way to Rank-1. I had a few people tell me it was possible, which was all I needed to put my head down and push forward. Most people told me that I would stall in the Red Ranks and be lucky to reach Rank-3, but probably never past Rank-4. In fairness to them, I was starting to agree with them. I was stuck at Rank-4 for a very long time. I was a hair's breath from giving this up.

My original goal was to achieve this by Halloween; that somehow seemed fitting. I didn't make the artificial deadline, but I did make it to Rank-2. As of this morning I was Rank-2 and needed two Pips to make it to the promised land. Then I would be free to finally play other Killers and my days of stressing over Rank would be over (until the next Killer I decided to set this ridiculous goal for). The game started badly for me. It became apparent I was facing a Ace who was literally an ace at looping. He had no fear of me and I could see why. I quickly realized that I would be lucky not to lose a Pip. Obviously, I did better than that. I will post a link to the video when I get it edited to protect the privacy of those I played.

As you can see by my Devotion, it took me 206 Player Levels to get here. I don't actually know if that is a lot or not, but it sure seemed like a lot to me. I appreciate all the good advice I have received at this Forum from posters who genuinely wanted to help. I want to thank those people who gave me support and told me it was possible. I want to thank those people who had to play against me, because in this drive I was not able to be kind. Once I hit the Red Ranks, I couldn't afford to give the hatch, or take it easy on anyone. I want to thank those of you who managed to be cordial even when I know that must have been hard, and I want to thank the people who held their tongues rather than saying something salty. I must show gratitude to the many Survivors who kicked my butt up and down on this journey as you made me a better Killer. Last and not least, I want to thank the DEV; they get a lot of grief here, but the game is still a blast even when it is stressful and hard. I sure as heck wouldn't have just put myself through that if you hadn't created something unique.

Congrats. Though I'm not sure who said it was impossible. You can get to rank one with any killer. It's dependant on both your skill and the skill of the survivors you're up against.

I suppose you don't, but I'm brutally honest about everything I do here. I would hope you would give me the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure enough of you have been playing against me to know. :)

Actually, getting to rank 1 only as Myers is a pretty impressive feat. He does not get a lot of arbitrary head-pats - sorry, I mean "pips." You've got to work pretty damn hard to even get a black pip as the good old mayo. Back when I mained Plague, the other no-pip killer, I barely ever ranked up at all even with a 4k. I can't imagine trying to grind my way to rank 1

Well done. All those new believers in the boogeyman you've made. You did Mikey proud.

So have I, is not that hard, anyone saying is not possible is either very bad at this game or plays 1 match a day tops.

So only myer's perks and generic perks? A bit more of a struggle. Pretty cool stuff congrats.

Congrats! I'm curious, how often do you play as a Tier 1 Michael Myers? I'm not suggesting that's how you got to Rank 1, I just think those are the best killer matches in the game.

No, I'm not that crazy. I allowed myself to use any and all Perks I unlocked on the Shrine and such. :) Perhaps I'll try it with ONLY Myer's Perks someday though.

I play Spooky Myers as often as I can as those are fun, albeit challenging games. Spooky versus Red Rank SWF is really hard because:

    1. They have eyes on you pretty much the entire game.
    2. They are all champion Loopers so the slow speed of Spooky is sometimes crippling.
    3. Playing Spooky on big Maps happens even when you put in an offering. You get blocked or lose the coin toss to another's map.

I play both Spooky and Maniac Myers all the time. My last match that took me over the top was as a Spooky and took like 15+ minutes.
