Labour of love nomination on steam
The game has been nominated for "labour of love".
Unsure whether the nomination was a result of someone stealing and using blights serums or just as a joke

Not sure why you think it's a joke? I think it fits the game well.
Edit: also, thanks to your snarky post, I just nominated DBD for the award. Thanks! :)

I nominated No Man’s Sky for that Labor of Love category. That game took a real beating at launch but they really stuck with it and it’s much better now.

I wanted to express my opinion here but I made a post on steam about it, if anyone is interested: https://steamcommunity.com/app/381210/discussions/0/2967272318176622891/

Well I the definition of the labour of love award :
"This game has been out for a while. The team is well past the debut of their creative baby, but being the good parents they are, these devs continue to nurture and support their creation. This game,to this day , is still getting new content after all these years."
Yea the game gets new content but the quality of the content is rather low, when they attempt to fix one bug 10 more appear, even the most gamebreaking bugs gets through their testing, they don't seem to actually listen to the community and generally just seem to want to milk the game for all it's worth rather than actually improving the game they push out content that is low effort and uncreative and just makes the overall game worse with the sheer amount of bugs.
I will admit they're has been some improvements and some interesting killers but overall the game is in poor health , and the Halloween "event". They just seem to push out content just for the sake of getting cash nothing wrong with that but they don't seem to bother improving the base game which is buggy as hell, they dont bother to even look at the reasons behind why certain people dislike certain aspects and only focus on statistics rather than the community itself.

I'm actually torn. On the one hand, DbD, for all its flaws, is an amazing game that right now has no serious competitors.
On the other hand, it has no competitors...so as long as they churn out content, without focusing on game health, they will maintain a steady playerbase for a long time to come, and that is exactly what has been happening.
As well as this; content is churned out very quickly, but when it's licensed, it's not there for the amazing gameplay for both sides - it's there to bring in fans of a particular franchise and rake in more money (which is fine, but it's not healthy to have half the content be this style)
However, the original content it's clear that coming up with ideas they had great ideas overall, even if at times it felt like they just didn't recognise the most obvious issues with what they release (think lockers countering the Twins, holding Victor hostage, etc) that even average players were able to point out after mere minutes of playing.
On the one hand, they're doing everything they can do get new players into the game;
On the other, they're pushing new players away with things like daunting amounts of grinding, to the fact that right now, this game, with all DLC's, will cost you around £100 if you don't get any of it on sale.
There really are aspects that I look at and think 'hey, this is really great and feels like they had fun with this idea,' and then I hear certain representatives speak with such disdain for the people that fell in love with their game, but are worried about certain things, and some content feels forced to boot.
And this is me not talking about their incredibly slow(and sometimes non-existent for certain problematic aspects of the game) balance, which, admittedly, they seemingly have improved at dealing with in the last couple of patches (which truly inspires hope)

No way! 0% chance I'd vote for DBD as a "labor of love" lol.

I would have definitely nominated it but my vote went to CSGO
