Practicing Victor is slow and miserable.
Victor pounces. I don’t think I need to say anything more. The existence of Killers like Huntress and Slinger means there’s a lot of cool, fun stuff to be done there. And I’m willing to learn that cool, fun stuff.
But it honestly feels like the game doesn’t want me to.
Let me explain. Imagine you want to practice a Killer with a special ranged attack. You don’t want to win, or get bloodpoints, or anything, you just want to improve your use with that special ability. So you go into a match to practice, and at some point, you miss your ability. What happens?
If you miss a hatchet, recover and try again.
If you miss a blink, recover and try again.
If you miss a spear, reload and try again.
If you miss a Punishment of the Damned, recover and try again.
If you miss a pounce? Get kicked in the face, respawn as Charlotte, wait for Victor to come back, unbind Victor, find a Survivor, and try again.
You see the problem?
More than any other Killer, Victor gets punished for using his ability like mad. Not only does it result in strongly discouraging players from attempting risky, big brain, game-changing pounces, but it makes practicing pouncing at all absolutely miserable. Victor is so incredibly discouraged to do anything other than go for safe, easy pounces that are boring, unintuitive, and unsatisfying. Because if he tries anything and misses? He ######### DIES.
Something needs to be done about how punishable a pounce is. Everything that isn’t borderline guaranteed is a massive risk that could lose the chase and even the game if you mess up. It’s incredibly unfun and frustrating.

Want to know the difference between huntress and victor?
Huntress moves at 110% speed and victor moves at 150% speed. There needs to be a downside to missing.
6 -
Hardly matters when his pounce slows him to a crawl and is countered by literally everything with a collision box.
7 -
Huntress hatchets are faster are more useful then victor ever will be and you can miss 5 times with the hatchets before you need to get more.
Plus when you hit someone witch a hatchet, they cant kidnap your other 4 hatchets or your ability to get more for 45 seconds lol
7 -
git gud
she should be able to recall victor at any time and not have to wait 45 seconds
6 -
Survivor main... right?

I feel ya. I've been trying to practice jumping over stuff (which results in nothing but collisions) and jumping through windows (which 99% of the time results in a collision). It's frustrating.
The game needs a way to practice, but there is none. You practice live, and you get kicked in the face... literally if you're practicing Victor.
My biggest annoyance right now is Victor getting stuck in the ground so much. It takes forever for him to auto-die, #########, why is there no self destruct? And I hate that after he pounces on a survivor I have no clue where he is. Why did they make an achievement to down survivors with Victor on their back? The Twins aren't built to be played that way. He attacks, then I'm back in Charlotte and super disoriented and it's like 10 seconds before I'm moving in the direction in which I want to go, and it always seems like Charlotte is a million miles away from where she needs to be.
Sorry, back on topic. DbD needs a practice mode. Letting killers open up their own custom match with a few mindless bots to practice aiming at seems long overdue. (And I want a shooting range for Huntress! With helpful target practice and maybe one of those shoot-the-duck games, that'd be awesome.)

If you miss a hatchet, go all the way to a locker, open the locker, get new hatchets, find a survivor again, try again
if you miss a blink, suffer cooldown, look at the ground, look back up, find survivor again who you lost due to looking down, try again
if you miss a spear,.... ok yeah reload and try again
The point is you are typing it up like nobody else has these consquences as they should have because that is what counterplay is...
Victor, miss a pounce, IF a survivor is close enough they can kick you, otherwise the chase is still on, if they kick you, suffer the animation, go back to charlotte move towards the target and you will have victor back in like 3 seconds, redeploy and try agian, it really isnt that much of an issue.
But here, there are pleny of other killers if you dont enjoy the Twins.
My only problem is that Ifeel survivors should suffer consquences for kicking victor, maybe oblivous for a bit.
And I feel the "story telling" of the kick needs work, right now its pretty pathetic hearing a killer go "uerrhhggg" when a survivor kicks it...lorewise they are suppose to be monsters of destruction, so imo instead the kick should make Victor vanish like the thanos snap, go up in smoke like you never managed ot hit him to begin with.
I also would like it if Charlotte would say "frère" (brother in french) in a whispering creepy tone when unleashing Victor and Victor saying "soeur" in a similair fashion when returning or switching to Charlotte.

Huntress only has to reload at a locker after 5, that’s right, 5 missed hatchetds, and all things considered it’s relatively quick and painless.
Nurse regents blinks while fatigued and thus only has to wait a little bit more than 3 seconds to get both blinks back.
Victor has 3 seconds to be kicked, then you have to wait for him to come back, then respawn him, and then try to find a Survivor again when they could easily stealth in all that time. It’s much worse than any of the other Killers in this game.

His pounce isn't really that hard to land though. Jumping over pallets and through windows is kind of a pain, but otherwise it's not--unless it's different on a controller?
1 -
Have you gone against Survivors who know what strafing and corners are yet?
0 -
The Twins' difficulty is hard for a reason. Victor has some of the best map mobility/pressure on a scale we've never seen. He's punishing to miss, but he's a monster when the time is right.
But I agree that practicing is difficult, because Survivors are relentless against inexperienced Killers and it makes you feel miserable. It's a psychological thing, where even though you know you're not taking the game seriously, you still feel the pain. This is why I cannot wait until they add offline bots to this game. I simply cannot play Killer casually for those reasons.
1 -
agreed but the downside is so severe like all that time you controlled victor was for nothing, you could use all your hatchets as huntress then reload and that is less punishing then most of the times you get crushed as victor.
0 -
Really my only tip for his pounces are be patient like with a Billy backrev, hold that charge till they move back infront of you. Quick reflexes are a factor in this tbh.
1 -
Corners are annoying, strafing is pretty easy to counter you just watch their pattern and anticipate their direction, just like you do when playing Huntress or when playing an FPS.
2 -
I too love Survivors who can’t strafe a Killer standing a mile away.
1 -
Mad because bad.
1 -
Victor moves at 150% speed and it's incredibly easy to secure a hit with him. If you miss, it's you being bad.
In fact, getting crushed on missing or hitting a shot with him, isn't even as punishing as it should be - he has a freaking 8 second cooldown, which is far too quick for how easy he is to use.
1 -
The words of someone that can’t dodge Victor.
2 -
Victor’s pounce is slow, clunky, limited, and bugged to hell. Dodging it is incredibly easy.
But I guess you feel that way because you don’t know how to put yourself in front of debris.
1 -
I take it you haven't bothered to play both roles, then. It's insanely easy to hit; debris doesn't work anymore since it came to live because of his speed increase while charging his pounce.
1 -
Bruh, I haven't even played against the twins yet. But I've only missed my Victor pounces a handful of times & I've been playing them non-stop since they came out on Tuesday. His pounces are dead easy to hit, especially if you have experience with reading & predicting survivor movements. It sounds like you just suck at that.
0 -
They didn't actually make that change, you know. I played Twins extensively on the PTB and the movement speed while holding a pounce is the exact same.
The fact that you think they did says all that needs to be said.
0 -
Mad respect to anyone who can land a Victor pounce through so many visual blockers without using an addon that shows pounce location, that shows the true power of what The Twins are capable of doing.
But most of the time they just run up to you, ready the pounce, and latch on, so people complain that they have no counterplay or they're non-intuitive.
If you miss a pounce at that range, it can be easily punished, so when survivors use their jukes they learned from years of playing against Hillbilly and Bubba to juke Victor, run up to him and crush him, killers complain that they are so underpowered and low tier.
It doesn't help that you can't really practice without getting stomped on literally and figuratively, so it discourages players from practicing and leads to them just doing the same thing over and over again because it's the only thing that consistently works.
1 -
And let me guess, you're going for crazy yy fakie no scope head shots Scott Jund cross map pounce gamer chair montage shots and not point blank melee attacks in an open field?
Fat chance.
0 -
Hahahaha, wow what a bizarre and bitter stretch because you don't want to admit that you're just bad. I already said what I do: I watch survivors movement patterns and predict their movements with pounce just like you would with any other projectile, like Huntress and her hatchets.
Have you never played an FPS before????
Survivors in DBD have even easier strafing patterns to predict than they would in a game like Overwatch, their pattern is literally W & ADADADAD. It's not rocket science.

Kicking Victor should make you the obsession, or something.
1 -
victor back 6 seconds after a 2-3 second dying animation just to do a 1.5 second unbind animation, that around 10 seconds just to then run across the map to try again with only 1 attempt
0 -
Keep making yourself sound like a god. Of course strafing is easy to predict when going for melee attacks.
Doing what you say I should be doing is how I became one of the better Pyramid Head players in this game, just saying. Victor is just terrible in every way unless you're going for point-blank shots in an open field.

Are you having a stroke?

I'm making the best of the tier-10 people on these forums.
0 -
No one knows what you're talking about.
Oh wait, are you trying to say rank? Because lol. It's actually impossible not to get to red ranks if you just play the game.
0 -
All other ranged killers have a lot more opportunity to practise ranged attack with far less punishment involved which nobody can really deny with a straight face.
0 -
No, I said tier. I meant tier. You're a tier-10.
0 -
Oh okay--going back to my original point: no one knows what you're talking about. Are you having a stroke? Do you need a wellness check sent to your house so someone can decipher these messages you keep smashing onto your keyboard?
Or did you just miss one too many pounces with Kicktor?
0 -
I think that is really good, rewarded for hitting and punished for missing. Huntress with 5 chances are a little too forgiving most of the time. When you are good with Victor he is deadly, even with 1 chance most of the time.
1 -
Imagine.
0 -
He's really not. He only does stuff if you pounce on an injured Survivor who is away from everybody else, because if you don't you either pounce on them and lose Victor, or get kicked and lose Victor.
And then the injured person just, you know, runs around an object.
0 -
That would definitely be OP if he could down a healthy survivor. Think of the massive pressure: one with a baby on their back and now Charlotte can go pressure another survivor. That's immense.
1 -
Where did anyone say anything about Victor being able to instadown?
0 -
You said "He only does stuff if you pounce on an injured Survivor"...I interpreted that as he couldn't do anything to healthy surv.
0 -
You pounce on a healthy Survivor and then they steal him for 45 seconds. That’s what I meant. For almost a full minute you have no power of any kind.
0 -
I see it differently, your power is that survivor can't do anything productive, Charlotte is only having to deal with 3 survivors now. Or she can find that survivor.
0 -
Dealing with 3 Survivors as an M1 Killer with no special abilities. Yippee.
Not to mention sometimes Incapacitated will bug out and that fourth Survivor can still do normal Survivor things.

The community has asked for a practice mode for years, but sadly it looks like we'll never get one. Who would've thought that I would want the main game to be more like it's mobile counterpart?🤨
