Appraisal nerf really necessary?
The whole reason to nerf appraisal was that it was too easy to get keys all the time?! Then why couldn't bhvr just make it so that you can’t find keys while using the perk? All they did was nerf a loot goblin build based on one item, an item that is getting a nerf anyway.
With that nerf they ruined the fun for me running this built to get cool stuffs at one place and share them with your teammates like they were picking up their Christmas presents.
but yeah let’s just use our beloved META perks (BT, SC, DS and of course dead hard) for the rest of dbd I guess...

I don't think it was about keys as the chance hasn't really changed since you get 3 extra items either way. It's the difference between having to explore the map to find 3 different chests to extract an extra item from and being able to camp one chest and get 4 items immediately.

In what way was Appaisal nerfed? (i just dont know, and people complain without saying what changed)

I mean, you don't have to use meta perks
DBD has a thing I like where you can use whatever builds you want, no matter how strong or weak the perk is

I don't think it's ever been said that the change had anything to do with keys, that's just something that's been assumed and then taken as fact, when it's not.
People choose to run whatever perks they want, I will still run Appraisal because I love to loot and this is still giving me more chance to do that.

EDIT: got confused about which Perk we were discussing. Will leave this here since it's still something players might want to know.
Hoarder's loss of the changing of rarity on items found was a technical issue. The loot tables are buried deeply in a bunch of systems, and adding a new loot table below the current lowest caused problems elsewhere.
Whether this feature will return is under discussion, and is affected by the amount of work necessary to adjust the loot system to support it. We've seen the feedback and consider it "high on the community wish list".

Wasn't that Hoarder?

Woops, yeah got confused a moment. Sorry about that! I'll leave the post there as it explains what happened with Hoarder. :)

Hmm, isn't it possible to do kinda what Plunderer's Instinct does but in reverse?
Cause Plunderer's Instinct increases item rarity, while Old Hoarder was intended to decrease this, why not make Hoarder do a considerable decrease to item rarity?

Figured it was a technical issue as opposed to for the sake of balance, but at least now we have confirmation.

Thats actually really helpful. I figures Appraisal got nerfed so you couldn't get a ton of items from one chest (the chest speed shouldve stayed IMO, rework Pharmacy and Quentin perks :p), but this is much more useful. The lower rarity was a valuable aspect of the perk, so I do hope it gets compensated or buffed in some way to make up for it (assuming it doesn't come back).

Thanks for the insight, it's always good to hear the reasoning behind why a change was made.

Okay, you see, people of the forums, this is some Grade-A communication right here.
To Almo: Thank you for the information, and please do your best to keep us informed of things like this in the future!

This is precisely the technical issue. There is a list of tables, and adding to the list at the end is fine, but at the beginning breaks things.

Kinda makes me sad. I was using it a lot and looting as much as I could. I did find a lot of keys, though. I thought that was kinda weird. But i guess it's good because I would spend too much time looting the one chest I found and not doing much else xD;

They completely butchered the perk which was already mediocre, when all they had to do is remove dull and skeleton keys from chests.

Because if the “amount of work necessary” is slightly inconvenient, it’s far better to have a worthless perk that helps the survivors (hoarder).
bhvr motto: If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing as shoddy as possible with very minimal effort. (Aside from skins of course)

There was not enough time left before release to implement this. If we want to shove this work in now, other features have to be bumped. We have to decide which features are most important to implement. I'm sorry if you think that's lazy, but it's just how software development works.

At the moment, Hoarder is actually a Survivor perk effectively! 😂

i'd like it more if the perk was eigther token or chest based, not both at the same time.
being token based would mean you can loot a chest as many times as you want, as long as you have a token available.
being chest based would mean you can loot a chest twice, as many times as there are new chests available (so it would be directly impacted by the coin offerings from both sides / hoarder)

I dumped this perk the second it got nerfed.
Back to the old Meta Build because we're not allowed to have fun.
I really wanted to do DS, Ace in the Hole, Plunders and Appraisal, and not for keys but for ways to save the grind from the Bloodbweb.
Oh well....

That would be a good reason to have a system where you could test out new perks, killers, ideas before they are released live. Oh wait......

Yeah have been using the perk since its release along with Plunders and Ace in the hole. I'll admit I did get excessive keys from chests, but for me it's still sad the perk was nerfed in this way.
Unless you want to throw the game, you're gonna have to run plunders with it now. You could get away without using it before, but now that you have to find 3 chests across the map to use all tokens... good luck. (You'd still be wasting huge amounts of time even with Plunder's equipped anyway).
And I was just fine tuning the build to only Ace in the Hole & Appraisal too. I guess I might use it every once in a while... but similarly to @BigBrainMegMain I'm back to using good ol' meta perks again.
