Is any killer as rewarding to learn as Nurse?
I started out this game by playing Nurse and am just now finding myself getting kind of bored. I want to learn a new killer (or just turn off the game earlier, lol), but I feel kind of spoiled by having learned Nurse first. Is there any killer that is as rewarding as Nurse to play? I like being able to use meme-y perks and no addons, yet still not feeling gimped (unless facing a competent SWF). And even if a game or two goes kind of south because of this, I can just put on tryhard perks and smash a game instantly. I know that getting good at any killer will allow this (because matchmaking is trash + playerbase isn't the most skilled), but does any killer come close to how good Nurse is once learnt?

Pyramid head or blight? Their pretty fun (at least for the killer) and the blight definitely has a high skill cap. Ph also has a pretty high skill gap.

I'm waiting for the blight POV fix before trying him out. PH doesn't seem to rewarding. He's a good killer, but compared to Nurse it's underwhelming. =/ I'd rather just play Nurse at that point

I think if you become a true master, Hillbilly is still a force to be reckoned with, allowing for tons of 5 gen 4ks. I´d say it´s extremely difficult though after his rework.

If you master Huntress I guess getting tricky shots would feel very rewarding.
not that i would know, I can’t even properly hit when the survs are farming with me..
6 -
None as hard as nurse.
Though I'm confident I can run no addons or meme perks with Blight or Oni that's about it I guess. People say blight is the second hardest thing in the game but I kind of mastered the hero in an under a day but Nurse is just impossible for me.

Playing blight isnt that bad with high low POV but I understand the wait.

Blight and Huntres.

Billy by far is the most challenging to master at his full potential as he has a really hard maneuver he can pull off with his chainsaw that, if done at the correct loops, can be extremely unexpected and can result in a down from it (Did it once in KYF to have my comrade learn what the new perks do and so I can see how good he was at looping Billy, lets just say I am proud of him)

Gotta be Freddy. His skill ceiling is about as high as Victor's height.
On a serious note, though, hitting prediction shots through walls with PH is difficult and rewarding, although a bit easier with the rework (still think it could've been handled better). Hillbilly also has a lot to learn, but is frustrating because of the overheat capping what you can try with the saw, and his addons being mostly trash. Oni is also like billy, with less of a skill ceiling but much less frustrating and with much, much better addons.
I've also heard that huntress and blight are good candidates. Huntress is undeniable, I still laugh at blight. Genuinely do not understand the general community's view of him as like a top 5 killer or whatever, especially those who say he's the third best. Literally go behind a wall 4head, it's not that hard. Or, you know, juke him by turning an inch to the side. This has worked on every blight i've gone against, ever, including the p3 ones. All four of them. He is very fun to play against, though!

I would suggest Ghostface.
It is a very different approach to the game when you play him for the stalk and not just use his power during chases. You need to understand survivors pathing outside a chase and predict where they will be. Also you need to balance abonding chases and getting some stalking off while leaving the one survivor for the other in order to mark her later. You reward for good stalking is a one shot on the marked survivors and feels very good when done right. Also you can nearly constantly find new angles from where you can stalk the survivors. Not to mention the occasionaly fun parts when you sit next to a survivor doing a gen...
As for perks, you said you like meme-builds and different perks?
Well of course Ghostface has a "standart build" with Whispers, BBQ, Pop and others.
But you can also use nearly every other Perk on him: Spies from the Shadows, Dragons Grip, Mind Breaker, Beast of Prey...you can run so many dumb combinations on him. Try his ulra rare add-on the Outdoor Camara with "Knock Out", "Infectios Fright", "The Third Seal" and one more. Or Thrilling Tremors, Surge, Pop for Gens. You can even build a hit-and-run Ghostface with Sloppy, Nurse Calling, Thantophobia and Whispers.

If you master the huntress, you will probably feel the same satisfaction when destroying swfs with a snap of a fing-hatchet.
I suggest her

There is no killer as rewarding as Nurse... she is undoubtedly the best and most rewarding killer in the game once mastered.
But if you want to try out other rewarding killers, I'd suggest:
- Spirit
- Oni
Both these killers are great with certain perks and playstyles. E.g. Spirit is excellent with Stridor (and also good with DH, TOTH). Oni is excellent with Infectious Fright and slugging.
So if you get good with those killers you will feel rewarded. But you'll never have as much freedom as you have with Nurse in terms of playstyle and perks, unless you want to seriously handicap yourself.

huntress nothing feels better then hitting a yolo across the map

I'd say Billy, Blight, Oni, and Huntress, and Hag.
1 -
Had a hillbilly leave me speachless as a survivor a few months ago. The guy was freaking talented and I would stop to watch his chases mid match.
0 -
I’d argue Oni is pretty rewarding
0 -
Surprisingly Demogorgon, when you learn ways you can abuse hitboxes and shapes to increase your lunge distance it's real fun, too bad it's not optimal at all
2 -
Blight is probably one that feels great when you play well, another is using all sorts of tricks with your traps as hag. There is a way to get on top of loops with good trap placement, timing, and having the survivor drop the pallet and i swear nothing feels as good as getting it to work and having that loop unusable for the rest of the game since you can put traps on it and leave the pallet down as bait.

Imo he was already difficult before his rework

There are several killers very rewarding to learn. But none are nearly as rewarding as nurse.
1 -
I was at this point at once, then I tried Huntress.
They're both fun.
1 -
There's very little that can compare to running honing stone as Trapper and having all four survivors step in a trap at the same time. Its only happened once in like 3 years of playing, but all I could do was be like.
"hm hm hm hm. Truly, I have outplayed you in one hundred thousand ways."
The only killer I fear at skill cap is the Huntress though, so I'm going to go with her. A nurse can never counter Dead Hard. She'll always miss one swipe against top tier players. Huntress hatchets go through the character model and stay in it for that hit.

My favorite killer is spirit as she is very fun once you get good with her. I also find hillbilly, blight, pig, and myers very rewarding and fun once you get good with them. Not sure what your general playstyle is so this is something you'll have to figure out as you play more killers, but I'll split the killers up into different categories for you to help you decide which killer you might wanna try.
1v1 heavy killers: spirit, nurse, deathslinger, huntress, clown, demo, PH, blight, doc
Snowbally killers: hillbilly, bubba, oni, myers
Strategic based killers: ghostface, pig, twins, freddy, plague
Hit and run killers: legion, wraith
Preparation based killers: trapper, hag

It's pretty easy to bait out dead hard, especially when you get comfortable with blink timers. You can swing at the last second from fatigue, or hold your 2nd blink until last second, etc. And in solo queue, it's so easy to just destroy peple regardless. I'll also willingly eat DS or BT if someone farms someone in front of me, because I can instantly down them again. =/ Problem is that it gets boring, especially because the times I play at seem to get such mediocre players. Maybe it would be more fun during full swing sweats times.
0 -
Just my opinion obviously but full sweat teams are how you really gain true mastery imo. They'll pull out all the stops and test you intimately. Feels good to beat them after getting stunned 400 times in a row.

I wouldn't say Billy is the hardest thing in the game to learn. You definitely need to put in a lot more work learning Blight and Nurse than Billy and one of the biggest reasons is you don't bypass a health state with those two killers. You can make curving so easy by using Q and E and you get the same results. It's also only possible with engravings, or if the survivor isn't paying attention, because you simply don't move fast enough to catch them before they round a corner.
0 -
Let's see, high skill + strong killers... Hag, Huntress, Blight, Billy. I think that's a decent list to learn
0 -
I find hitting long snipes satisfying with huntress.
0 -
Demo's pretty fun, and keeping a 3 gen from a strong team that's been rushing gens the whole game is really rewarding
0 -
Nurse, Hillbilly, Huntress, Blight and Deathslinger are the only killers who really utilize mechanical skill rather than just strategy and in my opinion are the most fun to learn if you like being able to make flashy plays.
0 -
I think because Nurse's skillcap is probably the highest there is a huge sense of achievement when you get really good at her and don't use add ons or perks etc. The one that comes the closest to me is Huntress and I would still play her with Bitter Murmur (I can't play her without it!).
2 -
Blight or Spirit, probably. I'd say Hillbilly, but the overheat mechanic really killed him in high level play. A real shame. Totally unnecessary. Billy is just a worse Blight right now.

I'm really liking getting better at PH Punishment attacks through walls. With a little help from I'm All Ears. :)
7 -
You know..ive actually not thought about using that perk on him. Thanks.
Side note you should start a weekly "try a build thread" from devs. I really would be interested in seeing what you all use when you play various things.
1 -
Killers that are rewarding to master in my opinion/learn with a good skill ceiling:
- Nuse
- Billy
- Oni
- Blight
- Huntress
- Bubba (after his rework. I suck with bumping into #########)
Dont learn hag... its just misery for everyone you play against.
0 -
I don't use addons, but not using perks scares me. I love my whispers too much.
0 -
I tried to play Hag and it's too slow for me. I like games to be fast paced and chaotic. I'm slowly leaning towards Oni because his power makes it a slug fest
0 -
Those guys must have either been console players, or they BARELY missed the Point-Turn chasing after you.
Or they simply weren't as good as they thought, because I hit Survivors who attempt to juke all the time.
0 -
I think Deathslinger and Huntress are kinda similar to nurse, if you are bad with their power, you lose all games, if you are good, you win most of them.
0 -
Huntress is in my opinion the most rewarding killer in the game. She also has the highest skill cap, at least in my opinion.
I find playing Nurse far more easier than mastering every possible shot with Huntress. But that's probably subjective.
Anyways...crossmap shots are for me the most rewarding thing in the whole game.
I also like the feeling when I play hag and I down multiple people at the same time because they step in my traps.
Oh...and Demo's shred also feels pretty rewarding.

Losing because of bugs/getting stuck/invisible collision/etc makes playing Nurse an unfulfilling experience.
Throw in fatigue + cooldown, and she's just a character I use for dailies.
I usually do well as her, and she's actually not OMG BBQ levels of difficulty to learn, but after getting decent with her, it's just not fun to lose to "the game" instead of my own mistakes or survivor outplays.
0 -
I'm all ears is great on Nurse also.
I have had a good experience using Tinkerer on him also, survivors don't see it coming and due to the nature of Punishment attack, you might be able to hit two of them. Also, Myers with Tinkerer is really fun, I have tried him a few matches and it was cool to head to those survivors with a silent Tier III terror radious.

The bugs aren't common. And even when they do occur, I still win. The basement vacuum is annoying. And the 2nd blink lock occurs the most outside of that, but the 2nd blink lock helps you become a better Nurse. And is fixed if you down someone. I feel like people who talk about her bugs don't really play her a lot...because none of them cause me to lose. Hell, I even blinked INSIDE a gen and grabbed someone and they wiggled out because i couldn't move. And then that person was locked inside the gen lmao.

Well, any killer really, since you'd actually be playing DBD with any other and not bypass 80% of its rules with the moving glitch that is Nurse.
If you want high skill ceiling and great results, choose the Blight. He has about as much potential as Nurse without cheesing the game when his quality of life update happens sometime soon. Game is saturated with huntress TTV wannabes, so you'll also be quite unexpected by many survivor teams.
But every killer can be fun if you put some time into them. Having adepted them all except, funnily enough, Nurse, I've found something to love in every single one.
Except Hag.

I started with Nurse first just like you so I know what you mean by how rewarding it is. Once you get her Blink down, it's just so easy to shutdown all the bs tactics and moves Survivors play with you. So many times Survivors wanna play the juke game with you on the other side of a pallet or a window - am I going this way? that way? - and when you blink through and smack them, it's the best feeling haha.
Been playing about a 1.5 months and I committed to her first, getting all purple perks that I liked (none of which are the supposed "meta" for her) and was winning too easily too much, so I switched to Freddy at that point. Freddy was nearly just as effective as Nurse but waaaaay easier to play. Instead of blinking through loops and windows, you just trap the hell out of it as you go and you'll get them. His passive of putting people to sleep also keeps the survivors busy and revealing themselves.
From Freddy I moved on to Pyramid Head - I've had a tough time mastering him honestly. He's good but takes some learning. I've kinda got him on-hold at the moment and moved on to...
The Doctor! I had fun with him immediately. My very first game with just 1 perk and no add-ons at all I got a 4k game and had a great time causing everyone to go mad!
While starting Doctor, I also dabbled with Ghost Face - a completely differently style of play for him... I've had some good games with him but also a little tough to learn and train yourself to commit to the stalking vs "see survivor, chase survivor" mentality of almost all other Killers...

I would argue playing hag and not simply trapping hooks is a very rewarding way to play. Toooooo many killers who haven't put in enough time to inherently know where survivors will eventually run towards/how to place traps in a way that interrupt survivor movement make her look like all she does is camp.... Which isn't even very effective against good survivors.
Coming from an ex-rank 1 hag/hillbilly main (different time)there is nothing more fullfiling imo than just knowing some survivor player was foolish enough to try and engage you in a chase, only to realize to late that you only followed them because you knew they were going straight into your best and get smacked backwards when they attempt to course correct.... Also, to this day still the killer I have the most 5 gen 4K's on.
I guess trapper is also a version of this, but he's a 115 killer so he doesn't have to rely exclusively on his power, meaning he doesn't rely as heavily on his power (of course he can't, it's tied to RNG) so for that reason I see him as less risk/reward which generally feels less rewarding imo.

And I'm really loving getting a 4 second stun as the Legion. I love getting more punished by my own power than from the pallet.<3

Blight for sure.

Love oni man. im still a billy lover at heart but oni is worth it, im still improving with him.
