Resident evil has worse matchmaking than dbd

I played one round of mastermind and got demolished by people who were all above rank 100 or more. I was rank 1 barely knowing what I was doing.

I thought their playerbase is so tiny now that such things are unavoidable at the moment?

I guess I dont know, but the tutorial explained barely the basics, and then I get chucked into a match of 100's. Actually there was someone who was rank 703. I'm just frustrated

That's because games like that and call of duty don't matchmake off of ranking I believe , if you get thrown in with a 10th prestige quick scoper the game doesn't care if it's your very first time playing or not

I wouldn't even bother trying to play resistance, that game quickly turned into either mastermind bully simulator or get defeated 1 minute into the match depending on how experienced the mastermind was. The team that worked on resistance clearly didn't balance around statistics, nerfing practically all useful survivor skills into the ground (despite all masterminds having a win rate of over 50% ever since the game launched) and refusing to touch any problematic mastermind abilities. Because of this, survivor players will take any opportunity to win, even if it means that the mastermind's match is miserable, because the devs never bothered nerfing OP mastermind builds.

  • Evolve was the same way and it was one of the big things that killed that game. When it went stage 2 it had about half as many players as DBD tends to have; and like half of them quit within 2 months because matchmaker was so busted none of the games were any fun.

It was always a curb stomp one way or the other, often dozens of games in a row in fact you could be demolished getting the same folks in queue so people were like "Screw this". There were other issues too but that was the big problem that kept anyone from getting into the game.

DBD is a miracle in it's own right, it has the same problems as games like those, coupled with insanely long survivor queue times, and somehow is still surviving.

Thats also because the game isn’t updated anymore

The game’s playerbase is really low, so it’s probably just trying to match you up with anyone it can. It’s also not getting updated anymore so unless Resistance somehow gets a huge popularity boost (which I doubt it will), it’s going to stay this way unfortunately.

Shouldn’t they though? For the sake of player retention?

Unless they deceptively manipulate their player base numbers for their shareholders.

especially not if they're quickscoping you with a cash shop gun and the suits at hactivision hope you're naive enough to think buying that gun will help you suck less

you got it backwards, mastermind started out with a clear edge, but some weeks in survivors had it figured out and began adding each other to play better while masterminds began getting nerfs. typical patches consisted of either survivor buffs or mastermind nerfs, until the big one with a slew of mastermind nerfs and a truckload of survivor buffs in one patch many of those buffs being things masterminds complained about survivors using cheat engine to get on pc like unlimited ammo. after that it went downhill and a lot of pc masterminds especially left, but another patch or two down the road I heard it even got bad on console in spite of the downies on consoles (I heard they were genuinely handicapped on consoles like bringing bats against nikolai lmfao) and from there it was pretty much dead I heard unless you wanted to either be a punching bag on mastermind or use one of the "if you can't kill em, beat em to death through monotony" builds which was the only way to win any more I heard after some of the crazy ######### they gave survivors in that game later in the year.

I played mostly survivor for the first couple of months or so, every time I tried mastermind I enjoyed nothing but annette until she was nerfed, then spencer as I grew more frustrated with survivors as the pc base dwindled and I got tired of seeing the same premades repeatedly, and then tried nikolai for the lulz before never installing it again one day. That game is trash, and the reason resident evil 3 had a decent chunk of content that should been created for it cut just to make that pile of dung resistance was. It was so easy as survivor I usually won solo unless my team were complete noobs especially when I was jan since they never had a functional cam to do anything with other than jacksh**. it was pretty sad how one-sided that game was. only the biggest scrubs needed cheat engine, and made me sick how pathetic they were to cheat in such a busted game as that one.

I'd avoid resident call of doody resistance as much as the idea of an honest election after 2020.

I hate that Evolve tanked. That game had an amazing concept

I was referring to old school MW2 online when matchmaking didn't matter you were always just thrown to the wolves , but if you tried you learned how to swim faster than you would've getting your hand held , for a game like this of course I think matchmaking matters but there comes a point where you should be thrown to the wolves and learn whats really supposed to happen

There are games that handle that really well though, where players are in a kind of “kindergarten” until reaching a certain level, or certain number of accrued matches, then they throw them into the big bad ocean of other players.

It was like that since launch. One of the reasons I stopped playing.

That and the vitriolic patches that destroyed any sense of balance and made it impossible to learn anything because in 2 weeks it'd all change again + powercreep in a game that was supported for 6 months. lol

Isn't that how this should be though? Once you hit green rank your account should be open because you've played enough to understand how it works , this game isn't rocket science

There's a reason you came here to complain and not the RE fourms. If a forum even exists the only people who would see it are the people you played with lol

Well I posted it here also to kinda prove that while dbd can be bad it's not that bad to new players. At least at first.

Well that's a really amazing insult to the game but im pretty sure its not on purpose lol. Thats like of Trump responded to critics by comparing himself to a class president 😂

Also the ######### up part is on the killer side its not even true, i face brown ranks all the time im red ranks! Just saw a COUPLE posts about it on here today alone matter of a fact

This has actually convinced me to download it since its on a free play day. Dbd should theoretically be balanced exactly like that, you should go into a match expecting to die but doing everything in your power to try and survive, im pretty sure that's how it was originally intended but they added swf and have been catering to one side ever sense despite the fact that literally no one is happy with that power balance.

If killers were actually in control it would make killer fun to play instead of sweatfest and survivor more fun because your objective wouldn't necessarily be to survive but to survive as long as possible. Of course i know very little about RE other than its really different from dbd so maybe it won't work but i can't imagine any 1 v team game to not work with the 1 being the power role
