Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Head On and lag

Has anyone discovered a mostly successful way to use Head On with the lag variable. Since the Killer is usually playing a second a head of you, I am finding it hard to consistently hit them based off what I see on the screen. Some killers are getting the prompt to open the locker before they are near the door on my screen. So when I try to leave the locker and even though they have not started opening the door nor are they even standing in front of the locker, but their open command must have already appeared because I am powerless to open it and they snag me. On the other end of the spectrum if I wait until they are directly in front of the locker and I burst out right into them they are unfazed.

I still think the best solution would be for the devs to put some sort of lag indicator into the game. Every match as a survivor you have to adjust your game to the variables of the lag, it would be nice if there was a meter with a number so you can know what to expect.

Also praise for when the lag is low, it really is cool to see your keystrokes and gameplay to be synced. I am always amazed when I hit a skillcheck early and the needle stops when you hit the button. I just wish it was like that all the time.

It's all about learning the timing, I tend to do it when the killer is slightly to the side of the locker that way they're in range of the Head On and they don't have the prompt to open the locker. I don't really have a problem with lag in games, on the rare occasions I do, I just jump out slightly before I normally would and I still get the stun, the hit box is pretty large.

I had to do the 10 stuns challenge this weekend so i equiped head-on to help get it done faster. Only took 3 games and 6 of the stuns were from head on. Only had one instance where it didn't work right and he grabbed me before I could jump out. Did notice if you intereupt a killers chase with it it's a good way to be tunneled. lol

I've gotten hit by Head On from several meters away from the locker in several directions, including behind at some degree, so I've experienced the opposite end of the spectrum. Survivors have consistently said to me when I've pointed it out that they have no idea how those hit me and how your cases don't.

Both can happen in the same game, so it's another fault of dedicated servers taking the time to process things rather than the fault of any particular player.

Quick question, are you playing on an older xbox/ps4/switch with cross play on? I don't have Head On on my PC account, but when I played Switch, it was very, very difficult to time Head On correctly once I turned on cross play. My friend who currently plays on Switch has trouble getting Head On against PC players, even before they know they have it. I'm not sure what it is but it almost feels like there is an automatic latency for everything you do on console (at least the Nintendo Switch).

A lot of other interactions have the same issue- I got hit through a lot of vaults on Switch and have no problem making them on PC. I also get hit during the beginning of Sprint Burst instead of dodging a hit like I would on PC. Dead Hard was a complete joke whenever playing on Switch with cross play.

Anyways, slightly off topic tangent aside, Head On does seem like a tough perk to use against a laggy killer. You're probably better off using it a little early or in completely unexpected moments (someone else runs past your locker in a chase, etc)

On a PC. Some games it works like it should. I have terrible lag, I live in a small town, not much I can do with the internet options here.

It is so frustrating. Lots of time I will do a head on and my character slowly steps out of the locker in front of the killer. I am doing the correct key strokes, it just does not work. The worse is when you try to exit and nothing happens, the killer walks up and opens the door and you look like a noob even though you did everything right and the killer should be stunned.
