what are your feelings about face camping hooked survivors and how would you balance it?

(this'll be a lengthy one buckle up folks.) i'm sure everyone who plays DbD on a basis has been face camped at least once. hoping on, simply hoping to have a decent game, some outplays by the survivors, others by the killer. even if it feels like you're always in a pinch or getting chased down for long periods of time, it doesn't mean it's unfun- in fact i believe the chases are more than half the fun of DbD. of course it differs as to who and what killer you go against, which always raises the question: ''how do we balance it which each killer?''. a question that's practically gone nonexistent when they made the cannibal, i personally feel. he can one shot you by just holding down one button and running you down (unless they're using addons for BPs which don't immediately put you into dying state) and that's it. that's all he does. his M2 may as well be an M1 because of just how much more favored it can be in almost any scenario, even at pallets which breaks them faster, the only exception being vaults that's the only place where it shows SOME weakness. at least with hillbilly there's an acceptable amount of skill involved with his M2, if you don't aim well enough you're screwed and spend a millenia recovering if you hit a wall. bubba has near complete control of where he rushes with his chainsaw and if timed right, he won't get stunned by pallets and will break it immediately. with almost any killer you're forced to choose either the already hooked and injured survivor or the other survivor that may or may not be healthy, and mind the perks that give you protection hits (borrowed time, mettle of men etc) as well as decisive strike. with bubba that's not a thing, you can go for both survivors if they don't have any perks to help (BT, DS etc) and gets rewarded for playing as the equivalent of a mother that grounded their child for spilling soda on their valentino white bag. i actually ran into this scenario literally minutes ago of me making this account to have a discussion about this. face camping bubba with 3 other survivors, 2 working on gens and my dumbass trying to save the poor man. i was lucky he had DS but bubba committed his life to chasing him down. all gens done, we open the exit gate and bam, survivor gets downed again after roughly a minute of being chased and BAM, BLOOD WARDEN WITH NoOED. i don't hate these perks, i hate how they're used by people like this and get rewarded for not even the bare minimum. ''OH but they don't get that many BPs even, there's a good chance he won't even get a point towards his rank progression'' that's not the point. the point is that it makes the game extremely unfun to play and how people put in their time and effort to be better at the game just to get railed down by killers like these- namely bubba because he's obviously the best face camping killer. so again, how do you feel about face camping survivors and how would you balance it? personally, if the killer is in close proximity of anyone hooked, the sacrificial sequence slows down dramatically. i'm not going to say it stops entirely because sometimes it's beyond the killer's power whether other survivors are near the hooked survivor or not, which is understandable. but i believe this change would nearly stop any face camping. of course it's just how i personally feel and think, doesn't mean it's the right one, why i'd like to have this discussion in the first place.

I'm not for the face camping but that would definitely make you hate it a lot less if you knew youd get more than completely screwed by a no skill killer.

Face camping loses killers the game in most situations as survivors should be able to get 3 gens completed and half way through the last 2 just based on the sacrifice timer.

If the survivor whose being camped stalled the killer for about 20-30 seconds before being downed and hooked then all generators should be done by the time they get face camped to death.

Its not fun but I'd just give the camped survivor a black pip and BP if they were camped.

I dont like facamping.. i eventually even report killers that facecamp.. because i myself am a helping teammate and i never act toxic towards the killer.. therefore getting facecamped hits me kinda hard.. i think to help against the facecamping killers should loose experience points for camping.. because obviously that bad.. and the survivor get points for occupying the killers time.. if that makes sense!

If played optimally (from the survivors perspective) face camping is a bad strategy since the other survivors can all work on gens and end up doing a 1 for 1 unhook before the timer for the hooked survivor ends. The problem here is solo queue...with no communication it's hard to know if the killer is camping or not if you don't have the correct perks for that, sometimes that leads to all 3 survivors wanting to go unhook and nothing gets done, it gets worse if you don't have borrowed time and your teammate just shows up to farm you.

I Know the game is supposed to be played with no communication but identity V has premade messages you can use to let the other survivors know what's happening, something like ''the killer is nearby'' to let the others know that the survivor that is hooked is being camped...

LOFL, what I do with LF is malicious. I'm sure someone on this forum has dealt with my malevolence. It's lazy, unfair and cowardly. it's also the most fun I've ever had in DBD.

It is fine because it balances itself in time. Squatting (how I differentiate this type of camping) is not a productive Killer tactic, except in the rarest of occasions. There is no reason to do it unless the gates are already open and you have no idea where the other Survivors are and your only hope of getting a Kill (or perhaps more) is the bait you have on the hook in front of you. That is it. Nine times out of ten it is a poor tactic, and bites Killers on the butt once Survivors know the basics of 1+1=2 and powering up Generators and getting out leads to a Killer getting a 1K at best.

Let me be crystal clear; I know it isn't fun for the Killer to squat on you like a toad, but that is going to happen from time to time. If you are playing Survivor you are part of the 4v1 experience, and you might as well consider yourself to be doing something valuable for your team. You are wasting the Killer's time just as much as if you were looping him/her around the entire map while your buddies did Generators. We all have to do our time on that hook now and then; accept it and you will be less tilted by it.

Squatters become less common as Killers improve. Some of them will transition into Lurkers (those who camp hidden right nearby using terrain and Perks) and some of them will become proper Campers who know how to do short patrols or how to proxy camp while still maintaining Gen-Pressure. Many will simply learn that hooking you and moving on to keep up Generator pressure is a better strategy overall at the start and even mid-game because they WANT you to get unhooked so they can hook you again. The simple truth is Killers do not do well if their prey all die on the first hook.

In short, this is a self-correcting problem. The reason we NEVER stop hearing the whining and complaining is because there is always a new crop of Survivors and Killers going through the teething stage and experiencing it at the most painful point. It shall pass. You will go on to whine and complain about tunneling in due time, and slugging... and eventually everything all at once. Or, you can just be adult about it and play the game, dealing with things as they come.

When I do play survivor, facecamping gives me a migraine. I find it incredibly boring and occasionally opens up a salt mine. I definitely think there should be some perk that guarantees the safety of the rescuer, to compliment BT.

From a killer perspective, which I see from much more, it’s boring, but it’s sometimes necessary. I can usually get a long ways with it, since there’s really no way to dissuade me from it.

Give the camped survivor points towards distracting the killer, as if looping.

Unless you are one of these 2 idiots, you can pull off 3 man escapes 100% of the time, with a decent chance to get a 4 man escape depending on how fast you finish all gens.

Face-camping with Leatherface. The entire reason of playing a VIDEO GAME is to have fun(and make the company money). If it's not fun for the Survivor, then that's unfortunate. I don't complain when it happens to me, which is how I even found out about it. It's funny because it's such a C-BAD-UN-WORD-T move lol.

P.S.: Sending a face-camping killer angry messages just makes them laugh and want to do it again.

It's fine because it's an auto loss for the Killer. An efficient group of Survivors (unless its Leatherface) can save the Survivor on hook and complete 2-3 gens during the time they are hooked. I'd do nothing to fix it, it just ruins the Killer's day more than anything.

i don't know or know what i'd do

If you think about it face camping wastes more of your time as a killer while survivors are off doing gens.

The ONLY reason you should facecamp is near the endgame and you have blood warden, if a survivor is being REALLY toxic towards you, or if survivors are in your AO/Nearby otherwise it's just a time waster and for the sake of the question no it should not be more punishing than it already is
