Kill Switch update: We have temporarily disabled The Legion due to an issue that allows for infinite power spam. The Legion will be re-enabled once this issue is fixed.

Deep Wound is bad and other shocking information

Status effects, love them, or hate them, are a core part of DBD design. Some killers inflict status effects as a core part of their kit, such as the Doctor, Legion, and Mister Metal Cone for a Face. But why are PH and Doctor's status effects so feared while legion's deep wound is considered by many to be a joke?

The doctor is in

Madness is the Doctor's personal status effect, and trust me, it is personally tailored made to make your life very, very, interesting. Madness can do quite a lot of things, but for the Doctor, the two most important things that Madness gives to them is Infomation and Mistakes. A survivor in tier 3 madness is going to make more mistakes and give you more information, two incredible vital pieces of any killer's trail.

Madness is a core part of the Doctor, and it lives up to its name.

Breaking News, DS is a lie

Many killers can camp, but PH can camp in style. This is because of his personal status effect, Torment. It can make it easier to see survivors, but when it comes to tracking them, Madness beats it there. No, where Torment shines is denying any hook related perk with a press of a button. The best way to use torment is to not use it if someone can be hooked easily. Instead, use it if you think someone has DS or you just don't have time to hook someone. It adds a great bit of Danger to PH kit.

Torment is not the core part of PH kit, but instead is the condiments to the Burger that is PH's Punishment. Yes, you can have a burger by itself, but everyone knows that you want some mustard or ketchup on the dang tasty thing.

Blood loss does not equal life lost

Speaking of eating, that is all that survivors will do when it comes to deep wounds. Does it provide information? I mean, killer instinct does do that, but unlike Doctor and PH you have to go through a lengthy animation before being able to down people with it. Does it make survivors make mistakes? Nope. Danger? Nope, not at all. It will keep them distracted, for a bit, before going back to normal. Now I know that Thantophoiba exists, but I will remind you that is because they are injured, not because of deep wounds.

So how would I fix it? Make it into an actually good part of Legion's Kit?

We're Too good at it

Step One: Split Legion's Deep Wounds from Normal Deep Wounds.

The Name for Legion's effect is now Precise Wounds, targeting precise points to limit and kill their targets. We are doing this because we are giving Legion's effect some more aspects to it that normal deep wounds do not need.

Step Two: When someone is afflicted with Precise Wounds, they cannot use exhaustion perks

This gives Legion a way more dangerous chase game and stops survivors from using the Legion's long fatigue time to dash away. It also makes it so that being hit with it is an actual danger rather than a mild annoyance.

Step Three: When someone is afflicted with Precise Wounds, they are %X louder

This gives Legion some tracking ability, but I am not sure what the exact number should be. This is a more minor effect, but I thought it would be nice to have.

True, for now deep wound seems like a joke and more like another helping hand for a survivor.

I'd honestly add on a small Hindered effect for X seconds if they plan on keeping Legion's ourageous 4 second stun. I actually did a full power redesign a while back, if you'd like to see it I can tag you in it!

a simple buff to the legion would be to make it so they can see the auras of survivors mending that would give deep wounds some synergy with them

Restore Deep Wound damage on Legion and then the status effect will become a lot more dangerous.

Old Legion is extremely horrifying and lethality is what made him OP and unfun in the first place.

Personally since his power's lethality has been completely removed, I'd say remove the dumb things that causes him to lose his power like picking up survivors and missing attacks. Being an all-seeing annoyance isn't exactly amazing so I don't see how letting Legion keep his power gauge full is gonna make him broken.

The thing that made Legion unfun was the terrible design around the Deep Wound mechanic, enabling the moonwalking exploit (which was thankfully removed). The fact that Legion can't see Blood trails in Frenzy anymore and is actually punished for missing their attack would be good changes if they readded lethality.
