Can we talk about Demo's Undetectable effect?
Been running a few games with him lately. 'Trying' to get better with killers I don't play. I know he has a lot of issues, I'm just being refreshed in what they are. One that seems pointless, at least as it stands now, is the Undetectable status effect. What's the point of it?
He has a map wide sound effect when using his portals. Survivors will already be on guard when they hear it. Additionally, his loud foot stomps can be heard from a good jungle gym away, if not more. If you're not using the addons, it only lasts two seconds, on top of everything else.
So, what exactly is the point of it? At the moment, it feels like it was slapped on, just for the sake of theme, with no actual value in it. I know it's a small thing to be annoyed with, considering how bad his addons are, yet still, it bugs me.

It doest have much practical use, and it likely wasn't intended to, but a little confusion now and then is still a nice thing to have.

Considering that this Chapter introduced those effects, I can totally imagine that they just slapped them on without much intention.
IMO they should increase the time a little bit and make him a little less noisy after coming out of a Portal.

I think far too many put it in the “pointless” basket simply because they’re never going to get a gen grab out of it.
But I think that’s kind of the point though. It’s simply meant to give Demo “a head start” on a chase rather than allow it to achieve sneaking right up behind a survivor successfully. If that were indeed possible, that would make Demo way too overbearing and powerful.

He has a global tell and the used portal's loud warning noise that happens WHEN the demo crawls out of them.
Even if the undetectable was 10 seconds long it wouldn't be over baring due to it having MULTIPLE TELLS warning you of the demo's movement.

@TheClownIsKing I understand it can't be used to grab. But it can't even be used as a 'head start.' He gives off a global roar, his portals can be heard from eight meters away, and his stomps can be heard a tile away. That head start is negated by everything else in his kit. Not to mention it's two seconds at base.

You can get a grab out of it IF the portal is far enough so the survivor doesn't hear you exit it and close enough so the undetectable status effect doesn't wear off too soon. Still the undetectable status effect should last longer.
However you also have to hope that the survivor doesn't hear your load af footsteps and they don't see you. but with properly placed portals it does happen every now and then.

All i’m saying is that Demo’s kit is already pretty large, and there are some exceptionally good Demo players out there, that making the stealth aspect that Demo has any stronger (I.e. removing some of the tells and cues) might become unbalanced. That’s all I’m saying. I think it’s intentional that survivors get a warning so that it rewards attentiveness.

I never said to remove the crawl out tell but given that demo DOES have a stealth extension addon(Red Moss) that increases its duration to 10 seconds and its still rarely helps should be telling on how bad demo's base undetectable is.
Heck most people probably don't know demo has a score event(Surprise Arrival) for hitting someone while still in their undetectable duration.

Even without detection perks, a good survivor will be gone before demo arrives. Devs come up with some good ideas, then water them down for survivors.

Sometimes a disadvantage is the biggest advantage. I’ve gotten more gen grabs with Demo than any other killer

It was slapped on because that was the chapter it was introduced in. I wouldn’t be surprised if Demo originally wasn’t going to have Undetectable. The add-ons for it also feel rushed (rare one gives only 0.5 extra seconds, very rare one gives only 1, ultra rare gives I think 10 seconds but you also have to wait much longer to teleport).

It would be nice if there were add ons that shut him up and let him be a silent predator like in the show.

I think the whole map sound of portal use is fair, as it doesnt tell them exactly where you're going and the undetectable makes it where you could get a head start. The real problem is his noisy @$$ clodhoppers. Take 1 step and the undetectable is useless

the point of it was: the developers needed to feel like adding the effect was somehow attached to the chapter they were releasing. It's also the reason why Blood Favor is a hex (Blight has Undying, which has no connection with any of his other perks otherwise).
It's stupid, but it doesn't seem like that design decision is going away any time soon.

You have to be deaf if you aren't able to hear demos super loud STOMPING
