How did dead mans switch get its name?
Its a cool name dont get me wrong, but how was it named? Is it a refreance to something or does it have something to do with the deathslingers story?

I'm not exactly sure the story behind it, but this is how I thought of it:
"Dead Man's" in reference to the obsession that needs to be hooked in order to activate it
"Switch" the activation of the perk upon the obsession being hooked like a switch
So basically just saying obsession activates it.

So a deadman switch is a switch that requires you to hold it down. Releasing the switch activates an an action. For instance, when fueling a plane, you squeeze the deadman to pump fuel. When you let go, it stops fueling. So, in this case, when the perk is active, it triggers whenever someone lets go

A "Dead Man's Switch" is something that is either activated (or deactivated) if someone gets killed (or otherwise incapacitated).
The most common form you'd see in movies is the guy with a bomb and his thumb on top of the button. If he is killed or incapacitated, the bomb goes off as his thumb no longer holds the button down.

A Dead Man's Switch is a trigger mechanism that activates upon releasing the switch or button instead of when the button is pressed. This is usually to ensure something triggers when the person is incapacitated or killed, hence the name, "Dead Man's Switch". In game, the effect triggers when a survivor lets go of a generator. Therefore, the generator is the switch, which triggers the effect, the blocking of the generator, when the switch is released. Hopefully this answers your question.
