Killer Idea: The Wrestler

Hey, y'all!

I originally wanted to send my suggestions directly to the artistic team of the game, but it appears they are not willing to accept any suggestion, even if we're not asking for anything in return, sadly. So I thought, hey, this section might do; after all, it's also nice to have feedbacks from fellow players.

Few notes before I get started: English is not my first language, so please be gentle enough to forgive me should some mistakes remain. Also, I am not a professionnal player, which means the perks/powers I will be suggesting here are only suggestions and would most likely benefit from some changes/modifications in order to be more balanced, I do know that. Finally, I do not pretend my ideas are innovative or extremely interesting, and I am sure a few people have already suggested a similar killer; this is just my rendition of it. I basically wondered : "Hey, what type of new killers would I personnally like to see added?", and this is one of them.

Without further ado, this is my first suggestion for a new killer and my first contribution to this site ever (hopefully some of you will like it) : The Wrestler.

Name: Clark Grimes

Nationality: American

Speed: 4.6 m/s (115%)

Terror radius: 32m

Height: (Very) Tall

Weapon: None (The Wrestler violently punches the survivor)

Other potential weapon idea: Wrestling chair (although a bit goofy, perhaps...)

Realm: Abandonned Wrestling Federation

Design :

He basically looks like what you’d expect from a psycho wreslter. Very tall and even more large and muscular than the Trapper, he’s a real powerhouse. His outfit screams « fancy wrestling » as much as it illustrates The Wrestler’s troubled personnality. A dark lucha libre mask partially covers his face, not enough for his beard to be hidden.

Ethnicity : The Wrestler could be caucasian or black. It doesn’t matter. What does matter is that he’d look cool af !

POWER AND SPECIAL ATTACK:

Bearhug

When a survivor stands nearby, hold the ability button to charge a pounce and tap the attack button to unleash it. Successfully landing a pounce deals damage to the survivor, and allows The Wrestler to lift him off the floor and put him in a bearhug.

While in a bearhug, the survivor will have to successfully hit three skill ckecks of high difficulty with various placement and direction in order to escape. If the survivor manages to do so, he gets free from The Wrestler’s grap, although he now suffers from both the injured state and exhaustion effect, while The Wrestler is stunned for a few seconds. If the survivor misses a skill check, The Wrestler can automatically put him on his shoulder, heading to the nearest hook.

Backbeaker

Sometimes, survivors may get in your way trying to save their friend.

While transporting a body, hold the attack button to perform an over-the-knee backbreaker on the transported survivor. During the next 30 seconds, said survivor can not recover from the dying state, nor can he be healed by his teammates. His aura remains visible during those 30 seconds.

This allows The Wrestler to chase multiple survivors at a time without loosing his preys too easily.

PERKS:

Figure-four leglock

Your foe cannot escape with broken legs.

Once you put a survivor into the dying state, Figure-four leglock activates. During the next XX/XX/XX seconds, the survivor won’t be able to crawl while in dying state. Other survivors heal the dying survivor XX/XX/XX% slower. Figure-four leglock has a cooldown of XX seconds.

Rock hard

All those years you spent sculpting your physique now pay off.

When stunned by a pallet, Rock hard activates. The pallet breaks instantly as it stuns you. Rock hard has a cooldown of XX seconds.

Jackhammer

Your strenght is devastating.

When kicking a generator, Jackhammer activates, and the regression caused by your damage is XX/XX/XX% more important. Jackhammer has a cooldown of XX seconds.

MEMENTO MORI:

The Wrestler lifts the survivor over his shoulders and puts them into a Torture Rack, breaking their back. The Wrestler then grabs the survivor’s head and applies enough pressure on it to crush it like a melon (pretty much like what Jason does in Friday the 13th the game).

BACKGROUND:

Clark Grimes had always been a shy, skinny and bullied boy. His parents provided him with everything a young boy could need, yet he still did not feel happy, accepted nor understood. Going to school had always been a chore for him, as there wasn’t a day without jostling, intimidation or hazing, and any look at another kid represented a potential danger. He often had to carefully hide bruise marks from his parents, so he wouldn’t be ashamed when they discovered he was constantly beaten down.

In high school, he discovered wrestling. Despite some rough beginnings, he perserved and quickly got better. At the same time, he discovered the many benefits of bodybuilding. In a matter of a couple years, the time spent in the gyms had transformed him from a frail boy to a muscular young man. He had gained both a tremendous amount of muscle and a quite impressive strenght, what helped him get better at wrestling, which remained his absolute passion.

In college, Clark kept focusing on his wrestling training, eager to start a career in this domain. He was a quite intelligent student and had decent grades, but studying just wasn’t what he wanted to live for. All he truly cared about was wrestling, which he considered the ultimate and purest form of sport. He quickly became the best wrestler on campus, and a couple months after that, the regional champion. His now advantageous look and his sporting prowess allowed him to climb up the top of the social food chain, as everyone of campus either feared, respected of envied him. He soon attracted the attention of a small national wrestling federation, which offered him a contract.

By then, Clark had it all. He was living of his passion, earned decent money, was a respected athlete, and most of all, the once shy boy who was ashamed of himself was now proud of what he was seeing when he looked in the mirror. Girls who used to mock him years earlier were now following him on social media and sending him seductive messages, and guys who used to bully him wouldn’t even look him in the eyes anymore. He also discovered the meaning of friendship, being surrounded by like-minded men who shared his burning passion for wrestling. Although his large and muscular body had always naturally oriented him towards a more traditional Greco-Roman style of wrestling, he decided to wear a lucha libre mask during his fights, as a way to make him look singular and original. He was living a dream : the spotlights, the thrill of the show, the acclaim of his fans.

However, he also came to discover the backstage of a wrestling federation. The scripted rivalries, the choreographed fights, the made-up personas, … All of his fellow wrestlers seemed to be fine with all that, but he wasn’t. He had come all this way working hard and being the best, and wanted to be recognized as such. He didn’t want to be some actor pretending. He tried to explain his way of seeing things to the general manager of the federation, explaining he wanted to bring some reality, some truth to the show, and how it could only make it better and more respectable. He got laughed at, called a fool and was promptly asked to go back to work.

This bitter disappointment left him wondering for months. He knew he was better than that and was certain he could achieve greater things. Discouraged, he quickly leaned towards the darker path of his life style. He began to drink regularly, and the steroïds he had begun to take in order to push his body to further limits didn’t do anything good to appease his natural hot temper.

One faithful night, during a Main Event, he was supposed to fake his defeat in a handicap match against two luchadores. Those guys hadn’t even dared to accept Clark’s proposition of a real wrestle fight a week ago during the sparring sessions. Even if it was a two-on-one situation, Clark knew he would easily take those lightweights down in a real match. He just wasn’t willing to accept being disgraced like that. Never again would he allow someone to humiliate him. Near the end of the match, Clark went off-script and began wrestling his way to victory. When the two luchadores started to protest, urging him to do what he was supposed to do, Clark entered a state of fury he had never experienced before. Out of anger, he used his impressive power and wrestling abilities to kill both his opponents in the ring, much to the entire audience’s shock and disbelief. That night, Clark forever made his « face heel turn ».

Clark quickly got arrested, and the tragedy, which was labelled as another case of roid rage, caused both national outrage and the wrestling federation’s bankruptcy. Known as the « psycho prodigy of wrestling » in the media, Clark also became the most dreaded resident of his prison, regularly starting violent fights against other inmates and severely injuring most of them, causing him to spend most of his jail time in isolation. When he went too far and killed another inmate, it was decided to transfer him to a higher security prison.

During the transfer, however, Clark escaped and came back home, leaving a trail of bodies along the way. Back to the town where he had once been considered a local celebrity, he hunted down and killed the wrestling federation’s general manager, along with a couple of his former wrestling partners. All the bodies were discovered in what used to be the federation’s main building, more precisely in the middle of its ring. Clark, however, was never found nor heard from again. Some say he managed to escape authorities and went into hiding. Others say the Devil called him to work as his lackey in hell. What most people were sure of, however, was that wherever he went after that, blood would keep on spilling...

The power itself seems fine, with being an alternative to the Demogorgon's Shred, but without the portals or potentially range to go with it. I like it! It also seems very scary to be caught in.

The backbreaker, however, seems VERY extra. I think the aura reading and inability to recover should only last 10 seconds MAX for his base kit.

Figure-Four Leglock seems very interesting, but numbers will need to be included in order to properly balance it. Maybe 16 seconds for all levels, 6/12/18% slower healing speeds, and a cooldown of 100/80/60 seconds? It could also be 60/50/40 seconds, either would probably be fine.

Rock Hard is going to be the butt of a lot of jokes just for its name, and I think that's perfect. The times I would give it would be a cooldown of 100/80/60 seconds, just like with Figure-Four Leglock.

Jackhammer is worded oddly, but I do get what you mean with it. I think this idea would be cool, and would definitely be oppressive with Pop Goes the Weasel, which I like. For the numbers, maybe regression speeds are 50% faster for all tiers? The time between when it can be used could be 60/50/40 seconds, which I think would be fine, though one of these perks could definitely use with a different effect than a timer, like an activation requirement, and I would say this one would probably fit best for it.

Overall, I like this killer a lot! The power isn't that vague and the perks are mostly written pretty well, good job!

Ok, I don’t know if u have done it on purpose. But u have completely copied my idea of a killer called ‘The Wrestler’. As u can see, I made this killer back in August 2020. And u have given your killer practically the exact same power as I have. Obviously, I know more people can think of this. But I’m just putting it out there as it’s such a coincidence. 😂

but hey, if u did come up with this without looking at my ideas, then that’s great, it’s good to know that someone has sorta the same thoughts as I do. 👍🏻

First perk. Seems alright, can’t find anything wrong with it.

Second perk. Literally is Spirit Fury except you have a cooldown instead of having to break 2 pallets.

Third perk. I don’t get it? Is it Hex Ruin but without the hex? And u have to actually kick the generator, it doesn’t just regress on its own?

    @Critical_Fish

Well, first of all, thank you for your positive and detailed feedback. It's quite appreciated.

I'll admit I might have been a little power greedy with the Backbreaker ability, haha. Your proposition to fix it seems quite reasonable. So thank you.

Regarding the perks, I purposely did not include the numbers as I knew there were many of you guys who would come up with far more balanced suggestions than mine. So thank you for that also! You've completed my killer quite nicely! :)

    @LuluTheLion14

Well, you only have my word for it, but I am just right now discovering your previous idea (otherwise I would have commented on your topic instead of bother coming up with perks and a whole backstory for our wrestler ~ ) , and I'll admit the similarities are quite astonishing.

This to me only illustrates the fact there is quite something for Behaviour to be done with this concept of a killer wrestler, should they ever be willing to consider it.

Finally, to answer your question about the Jackhammer perk: well, to put it very simply, when the killers kicks a generator, said generator regresses more than it would have without the perk. That's it. Although I'm open to suggestions as to how to make it better.
