A lot of VPN/Lag switching lately...

So... I'm seeing a lot of lag switching/VPN lately in South America servers. Most of the time is a console killer (and it's either VPN or Lag Switch 'cause in the lobby the ping is alright, then you log into matches and this happens).

Edit: The red icon in the top left indicates REALLY bad ping and you just can't move since you'll be "rolled back" to the initial position after a while.

And I know for sure It's not a problem in my end since ALL survivors got the same thing going on...

It happens with PC killers too, but console is predominant...

You'd think VPNing still happening might indicate to the devs hit validation isn't actually working...

Isn’t the red symbol indicating your connection to the server has a bad ping?

afaik you don’t see the Connection of the killer at all...

I thought that too, but ALL the survivors experienced this, so I'm inclined to believe that the server weights both killer and survivor pings and go for the highest.

My connection is 100% ok since I'm always running a background tracker to know If I'm having latency issues...

And this is not the first time, just the first time I'm bringing it to the forums, this week I've experienced it everyday, and again, all the survivors in the match were affected.

It never worked, and I think the hit validation isn't even online? Can't keep track since they activate and deactivate in 20 minutes everytime.

I don't think it is lag switching. I had some matches like these as well (I'm from São Paulo/Brazil) and at first I thought it was the killer.

But the other day I got a lagged lobby like that on a KYF. Everybody was rubberbanding, even though we were all together and talking. So it wasn't any of us, it was just the server.

There was just one time last week I've seen it happen but it did not affect a killer (that was able to hit everyone at first besides the roll backs)... and it was a pc player... so I won't really defend it wasn't him on purpose. But every other match I got like that (and it was more than 10 I can remember throughout this last month), I'm positive it wasn't the killer's fault.

8 of them even disconnected. And 2 of the matches we did, because the killer refused to.

Apparently It's a South America thing since other players aren't noticing it... And yeah, it can be a server thing since we all know how DBD servers are "good". Didn't try it with my friends tho'. Thanks bringing it up :D

as @jaysime mentioned, this does sound like server issues more than killer VPNing or your connection being at fault. Sorry I didn’t mean to say that, I just tried to say it doesn’t seem like killers fault either.

i can’t really say anything to your servers, I am on EU servers and didn’t experience such issues lately..

Yeah, no I wasn't mad that you mentioned (my) connection was the issue, it's just that this is the copy & paste response with devs and mods in this forum, unfortunately.

I think server sided hit validation is online.

but I agree, it’s hard to keep track with all those features getting activated and deactivated so frequently.. (hit validation, MMR, DC penalty’s and others? Can’t even remember what they are juggling there)
