Is it really unique to Resistance, though? Seems like a fairly standard HUD.

That's a really peculiar similarity. I'm hoping for an RE chapter myself but would Capcom really care about how DBD's UI is laid out?

Capcom wouldn't have a say in how DBD lays out their UI because it's not their game. If DBD changed the UI it's because DBD wanted to change the UI. They could do it as a hint though.

Maybe they make us that reference to the new HUD and the "STARS" that we will see the Resident evil chapter in the future, but I can't be sure of that much, last year many theorized that the killer of the fourth anniversary would be Candyman, Springtrap , Pinhead and even Jason, the same happens with the chapter of Blight and The Twins, they theorized that it would be the Werewolf, Vigo and The Wendigo, so far I do not trust much of the next chapter of license or original.

As a former player o Resistance (that lead me to play DBD with the release of the Silent Hill chapter), I've noticed many similarities too once I first saw the new UI. But, I still will only believe there will be a Resident Evil chapter after they announce one. I had my share of false hopes already.

And I don't see how changing the HUD is a hint could of just been a coincidence.

He jus made an observation to exactly that; the coincidental hud similarities. He wasn’t actually tin foil hatting the likenesses😄
I find it interesting how these little coincidences fall into place, and the subliminal, vague clue dropping that developers take part in
...Ed Boon is the master of this. He even mildly trolls when new MK characters are coming as he drops clues on his Twitter feed. Keeps us in suspense, while getting all the players riled up in anticipation of who’s next on the roster. I love it.

Regarding the candyman deal, I think it is pretty much accepted that covid delayed the candyman movie, which delayed candyman coming to dbd, so he's probably a killer ready to go once the movie drops. Tony Todd said he voiced a couple of video games around that time, started following bhvr on twitter, and wouldn't answer direct questions about whether he was the next killer. Too much suspect behavior imo.

Yeah I miss when we had good clues or even outright leaks, because you didn't know if you could believe the leaks even. Too many original killers lately, nothing to tease.

I won't believe anything about an RE chapter until someone shows a link between the 5 from the 5th year anniversary photo and something RE.

I hated the resistance hud which is also why I don’t like the new dbd hud. There’s way too much garbage cluttered on the screen.

Using these as side by side examples kind of ignores the fact this hud has been used countless times before.

This must be a hint? The UI has been changed to give player's more information.They could have just went with there original style but with the added portraits and hook counter.
You almost sound like you don't want this resident evil thing to be true.
