I noticed I was the obsession when the killer had no obsession perks
The only an Adam had DS but me and the killer didn't have anything that was obsession related but I still ended up being the obsession. Shouldn't the Adam be the obsession by default?

If there’s even one DS in a match, anyone can be the obsession.

It's random most times. DS chooses a random survivor to be an obsession, and lessens the chance of the person using DS to be the Obsession. Then of course, if they use it, they become the new obsession

Unfortunately, it makes Adam more likely to become the obsession, but not guarantee him to be the obsession. I don't know why it's like that, but it is.

The obsession is chosen randomly every match. A survivor running an obsession perk only increases their chances of becoming it, it doesn't confirm that they'll be the obsession.

It's random. Obsession perks and addons only increase/decrease chance of you becoming one. You can also have an obsession if there are no obsession perks or addons.

If I had to take a guess, it works like that so the killer can't instantly see that the Adam would have DS and avoid tunneling him making DS useless.

if ANY obsession perk is played even if it's another survivor that plays it, there will be an obsession. DS is one such perk, it is the only survivor sided perk that doesn't make the user of the perk the obsession when that is the only one.
