I've only been playing for about a year now, so I haven't been completely burnt out with the game, but at the same time I haven't experienced any real events, and it kinda dampens my spirits. Gameplay wise, while honestly I don't think the game is in a terrible state, I do think some things need to be done. The number one thing I think is for the devs to stop looking at solely data for making changes, but also experienced people who play the game regularly, like streamers who give suggestions almost every stream. We've all seen Otzdarvas list of changes for both sides, and with his experience in the game, along with the raw data the devs use, viable changes can be made. I'm just using Otz as an example because he had a whole video about changes, but the number one thing is actually consulting the community with changes they think they need to make. Only once this is done can they start to focus on new killers and survivors. For the general health of the game, this next chapter should be delayed, so that they can work on just bringing the game up to standards. Like with the new animations, but for everything, maybe excluding maps as along with bug fixing, nerfing or buffing items and perks and everything else this could take a while. They've started to make changes to items like with the moris but it's so few and far between that it just doesn't feel significant. There isn't just one fix they can do, they need to have a massive overhaul to finally bring some life back into the game. Ite clear that the devs are overworked, making this next chapter a straight up overhaul to improve the health of the game is definitely what's needed

DBD is agreat idea but balanced by the wrong people. And that caused a toxic community.

I love the game but the bad experiences out number the good experiences. It makes no sense to keep playing this game right now. I deleted it yesterday.

I and everybody who stood with me stopped playing DbD more or less, since we dont enjoy it that much anymore. The game went downhill the last 12 months, mainly because they release extremly unfun killer like Twins, Deathslinger or PH.

To answer that question for you, yes they should change Deathslinger (finally!!!) and also Twins. Remove quickscope for Slinger and change Victor so he can not respawn every 5 seconds or so.

But to be honest, i dont see any light on the horizon and i dont care that much anymore. The Devs knew Deathslinger and PH were extremly problematic and frustrating to verse and yet they released the next very obvious problematic killer in form of the twins. It seems like they are very slow learners.

game is boring and lacking in long term development. New content is more or less regurgitation ideas tweaked and sold as DLC. The devs dont listen to the community and BHVR takes too long to fix game breaking bugs and glitches that are more detrimental to the player experience than any other community issue.

At this point I look at the forums more than I play. At 250 hours I hit rank 1 killer and I main the low tier ones. I hit rank 1 with survivor without learning to play with meta perks (never use spine chill or urban evasion if you are new). The MMR system is pathetic, the difference between rank 1s and other rank 1s is hugely vast.

The scoring and ranking system for killer does not align well with the objective of the game.

Survivors can hold the game hostage for an unlimited amount of time as it seems that daylight never arrives.

The devs refuse to implement measures to counter toxicity - there are already extremely good ideas implemented by other devs in other games (eg. Rainbow 6 Siege)

The community refuses to think with logic and make demands based off that which probably hinders the games future development.

The community is a bunch of ######### whiners that cant accept that they make mistakes and probably crawl under their desks for that safe space feeling.

I think many of us are just waiting for a game developer to release something better.

Balance wise it's the best it's ever been, which isn't saying much because the balance still has a long way to go.

I enjoy playing the game, but being in red ranks is not a fun experience. One game you could be demolishing people as clown ad think yourself a god. Then the next game you get [BAD WORD] up the [BAD WORD].

IMO this game right now it’s the best it’s ever been balance wise this game is so much better if I were to fix something about the game I would personally make it free forever. Because it’s so heavily monetized they should make DBD free to get more players and more money while also making it more secure so hackers don’t take over

I think its not in a great spot in the moment. The devs keep nerfing killers far faster then survivors. When they buff them they are minor and don't do a lot. DS+Unbreakable is a huge issue they refuse to address, but ruin+undying is a "problem." They keep updating the maps and just adding more breakable walls, but not taking away pallets, which makes it worse for killer. SWF is still a problem. Killer reworks are turning into a joke as it ends up invalidating many addons, removing play styles, and not making the killer any stronger. Moris get nerfed with no fanfare but no real word on keys besides "they need to work on animations." And if the quality of animations we are seeing from the PTB are any indication, its going to be bad. Survivor queue times are through the roof because there are too many survivors and not enough killers. And instead of trying to fix that, they are trying to bandaid it with MMR. But you can't fix something like that with a different type of matchmaking.

My experience with the game seems to be the bad matches outweigh the good matches quite heavily.

For every fun match (which I don’t have to win to enjoy) there are three or three to four where the games are too short for me to do anything, or I am up against players that are way above my skill level.

  • JohnShark
    JohnShark Member Posts: 88

Yea that seems to be one of the issues people have in general and affects both sides, not one or the other. Hopefully it gets better with time and MMR but we will wait and see.

I think it's probably at its lowest point the failure of the developers to listen to valid issues the community has over statistics which the developers have openly admitted are broad and not really always correct and don't take into account every situation possible which is why the design of statistics in DBD is flawed and shouldn't be the main choice for the developers to pursue and is only crippling the balance of the game further.

A key example is PGTW getting nerfed and us being told well it's because the killers just have to much time to use it well isn't DS basically the same problem but nope nothing done to DS because the Statistics probably told them differently realistically if the developers had a Killer main and a Survivor main who are the top 1% in the same room change would happen the amount of things that could happen with people who understand the game and don't base everything off shitistics. Don't get it twisted i love this game and have devoted almost 4000 hours to it but im gonna be blunt when it comes to the shitshow that is Dead by Daylight at the moment.

Also don't even get me started on Trapper's issues MMR being total cheeks Clowns rework being the biggest disappointment since Wraith the new Animations making survivors look like some silly crap you'd see in Scooby Doo the new HUD being totally dumb why fix something that isn't broken i mean the list just continues to go on and on.

The only way to beat swf comms consistently is to sweat, so killers are consistently sweating, which makes soloq a nightmare to play, so I play less and less.

I started playing a few weeks ago and I love the game. Playing at every opportunity I can.

The suggestions I'm about to say may sound like a new player, but that's actually my opinion as a survivor.

Windows and pallets are not enough to escape from a good killer. I think survivors should have at least half a speed that killers have.

So survivors who are not so good at chasing can be saved for a while, rather than being caught for less than 6 seconds.

Last is to remove the chat from the game, and instead add option to like survivors who really helped that match.

    -

One last thing, lower the price of Shards to buy characters and cosmetics.

For example 5000 instead of 9000 Shards.

toxic land, with the usual ddos cau'z there is no security, harrasement in post-game chat, bullying in game (wich believe it or not is not as bad as it seem) , one sided people that act like their side should always be winning and wine on the reddit/discord/forum and hacker trying to stream snipe little streamer and making the game worse for everyone.

Aslo the balance suck and the bug are out of control but i understand why now since scott video. Overall i feel this game was a waste to get into. And i'm sad not because i wasted money on it, wich i did, but because i gave my time to dev that don't seem to care (again if i believe what scott said) and to a community that's not worth it unfortunatly.

EDIt: i don't attack the dev, they are one of the best side in teh story, the toxic community is the real issue

until last night I hadn’t played the game in 3/4 months, I got tired of what I deemed to be toxic behaviour from several survivors per day. I was a killer only player. Yesterday I played a couple of hours with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed it in the yellow ranks. I did play as a perkless nurse for a couple of games in green ranks and won most games, but the toxic comments continue, so I quit. Shame, but this game is what it is and the mentality will always remain the same.

This game is so difficult to balance without frustrating the other side, but the recent updates including hex, pop, and Mori without any nerfs on the other side has left me feeling the time I quit was the right time.

I feel like the devs hand hold the survivor role too much. We have a ton of people that really don't understand the game ruining it for the solo survivors that do understand the game well. Red ranks are filled with clueless survivors because the role is just too easy. I feel like the survivor role takes priority when it comes to fun, and enjoyment of the game. I feel like the devs only listen to what survivors want. Undying is getting the nerf, but things like DS, UB and OoO are left alone. Anytime survivors don't like something, it is usually nerfed. The same can't be said for killer.

I also feel like the devs are out of touch with how their game really is. They make balance choices based off of data most good players consider flawed. How can you see how things really are at all skill levels if you just bunch the stats from low skill players with high skill players? I also really think the devs have no regard for good players when it comes to balance choices. Take OoO not being a problem just because people that use it die a lot. What about all the good players that SWF on coms with it? Why are they not considered? It is like the devs know the game has bad balance, and that the game relies on people being bad at survivor for the killer to have any enjoyment. So they just keep balancing the game around lower skilled players, because the are the majority. This then allows the good players to abuse everything indented for the "average" player.

At the end of the day, I like DBD, but it has too many glaring flaws to just shrug them off, imo.

dbd is more like a “well I guess I could play a couple games and then stop and play something more fun” kinda game. I was excited about the mid-chapter for once, but the ptb feels like an alpha and that movement looks to be from about 12 years ago; into is scattered everywhere, it’s just not as clean anymore.

They put all this time into rebalancing maps a 12-24 months ago, only to graphically update them and ######### them up (my favorite is when 4 survivors spawn in a massive dead zone vs. an instadown killer who’s 40m away.

Servers really really make this game unfun. How do you play a game that depends on precision when (a) one side gets the advantage (b) nothing meaningful (that actually works) is done about it

Killer is boring. Play spirit, nurse or Freddy and it’s nearly always a gg. And/or tunnel, slug, proxy, etc.

    I dunno,

The current state of the game: Few enjoyable matches, Plenty of toxicity everywhere (even me)

My enjoyment: It's mixed... some enjoyment then some that are not fun others that are just down right awful (for one side or the other)

Am I tired of playing: yes, at times the grind and mechanics in the game make me feel worse for playing

Changes: Base mechanics- EGC starting when the gates are powered

    Make skillchecks 10% smaller

Generic perks changes would be to keep focusing on perks that aren't used a lot.... They'll hit the sweet spot eventually (like the Open Handed change they had planned but didn't include)

Wish survivor was more difficult with less safety nets and counterplay was skill based instead of built-in to killers.

    Really fun, really great game.

People shouldn't take it so seriously though, and I still stand by th e idea that this game shouldn't be treated like an competitive game when there isn't a clear win/loss outside of 4ks or 4 man escapes on either side- and when there's no true casual verses competitive mode for solo players.

Still, great game to play with friends.

It's frustrating as killer and a huge coin flip each time you load in as either side. Plus, the meta is stale as #########, especially on the survivor side of things. If you're playing killer and you're facing a good team of survivors, you better start praying that they aren't running full meta or you're likely #########. If you're playing survivor, you better start praying that your teammates are competent so you can enjoy the game for once. It's just a mess that is way too inconsistent and way too stale for the amount of popularity and funding the game has going for it

I really do love this game. I can be very harsh when it comes to critiquing what has been done and what's gone unchanged because it comes from a place of love for the game. I want it to grow and get so much better, I don't want to see it die out.

Great concept but flawed by poor balancing and matchmaking. Also, the devs let the toxicity run rampant and, in a few cases, even contributed to it. For whatever reason they don't address the underlying problems and try to fix issues by buffing and nerfing perks, which are typically are overdone because the underlying conditions still exist.

Overall I like it out of higher ranks. I think when you reach purple it stops being fun. It's just one side sweating the most to defeat the other, in my experience. I like playing both survivor and killer in green/yellow ranks. Usually there I get some teammates that are ok, for the standards of the match. On the other side, as yellow/green rank killer I am allowed to make mistakes and recover from them till a certain extent, so it feels fair for me (I'm not very experienced in the roles), as long as the matchmaking doesn't put me with high levels... But then, if this happens, it's the game's fault.

I like playing it with my friends. When I want more points I usually go for killer. And I wish the grind wasn't so huge as it is, because I can prepare builds for only 1 of my killers now. I have to level every other killer up and that's not fun. I just don't have patience and play with what I have.

Fortunately, as survivor I am close to getting all the perks I wanted with my mains. But I won't prestige no one, because it's just not worth it. Too much grind.

it was fun until the devs stopped caring for the game and you start to notice it, its a downward spiral from there until you give up out of frustration.

The game lacks stats and competitive integrity. It doesn't matter how good you are at killer, you will never beat competent survivors. There are so many bad survivors that most killers end up winning most of there games because these casual survivors are playing at like 25% of their potential. The skill ceiling for killer is high, the skill ceiling for survivor is higher. Once you get pretty good at killer, even if you improve it has little effect. Survivors on the otherhand, the better they get, there is a dramatic exponential effect. It's stupid really.

Add in poor map balance, the ability to use comms in a game intended to be played without comms and any kind of teamwork and you have an extremely, extremely lopsided meta =/

I'm fed up with playing so many games in Autoheaven and McMillan I don't like playing so much on the same map it's boring and when Devs make them smaller because of the rework I feel they lost a bit of fun, not for the graphics updates rather they are no longer so different, I feel autoheaven and mcmillan all the versions are very similar to each other and before they were more different

    I loved the game.

They've been going on the wrong direction for awhile now. Their focus is clearly on releasing DLC as fast as possible. They don't actually care about the health.

The few things they are fixing aren't broken (lol ui?), meanwhile bugs that have been around since the last DLC released have still not been addressed. Hell. first time ever, they released a killer with her kit incomplete and later patched it in.

That alone shows where their priorities are: They just want the game to be good enough to keep the hardcores buying cosmetics and DLCs. If you aren't having fun, go play something else for a few months... come back for the next DLC. It'll be a super fun killer to hard counter and play against. 😜
