Is there a reason killers don't have any actual ping numbers ingame?

Is there a game design reason that I'm missing? Like why can't I see the killer's ping? More importantly, why can't I see my OWN PING AS KILLER?
Some of you are about to say "look at the lobby indicator", but from experience, that's not very reliable. I've consistently had 25-30ish ping in-lobby, only to get in-game and have 50-70ish.
