why is there no punishment for afk killers?
I just played a game where this wraith had just sat, afk, for the whole game. Of course me and my friend depiped as in higher ranks you need the equivalent of 3 silvers and a gold to not derank but due to no chase points or altruism points this became impossible, but that is beside the point. Is there any reason for there to be no punishment for afk behavior in games?

tbh i wrote this really badly, but i definately think that survivors shouldnt have to depip due to an afk killer

Yeah its annoying, half of them are wraiths, I don't get why wraith, you're gonna afk depip you.may as well do it that a killer that survivors can run around in front of to max chase, that way you aren't screwing others and you get some bloodpoints.

They pick Wraith because otherwise Survivors won't do gens and will tbag in front of the Killer for 20 minutes. At least that's what I do lol. They're probably trying to de-rank so they wanna do it fast as possible.

There shouldn't even a be a pip system. There should be a competitive/tournament mode and a chill mode where there is no rank with voice coms (killer and survivors can hear each other). Let the sweat dicks play with each other and people that just want to mess around have some relaxed fun (it is a game afterall).

An escape really always ought to result in a safety pip at minimum, no matter what.

Your cat might have decided to throw your glass of water to the ground and now you got to clean up the mess (please don't step into the glass shards)! Well, your cat decided to ruin a few precious minutes of yours an you forgot to leave the lobby. Damn. Do you receive a ban for that? No, of course not.
It only becomes an issue if someone runs into the same person being AFK over and over again and they make reports - "Hey, this person is AFK each time I face them!" That could result into a temporary ban for not playing the game as it ruins the game for other people.
If your intention is to suggest a different pip system in general or specific to that, you can either edit your post or create a new thread in Feedback and Suggestions. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/suggestions

Well so the camping Claudette that hid in a bush the whole game and then hopped In hatch with five gens remaining should rank up?

There are 2 main reasons a killer will go afk from the start of a match to the post game screen.
Either they are trying to de pip, which means they would naturally avoid anything that might give them points.
Or it's malicious compliance.
One issue with playing killer is that there are many times where you will have game after game where no matter what you do it's wrong and you are a toxic nazj that would make Hitler ask you to tone it down.
This forum and subreddit also have many that argue that essentially every perk is a toxic hate crime if you're killer, mixed with about six hundred contradictory rules that if you literally quote back at the poster will explain how you are sticking words in their mouth.
This can lead to the player feeling utterly powerless, and thus the only option left is to maliciously comply. They sat still and did nothing. They didn't play toxic because they didn't play. You can't accuse them of ending the game early, tunneling, camping, or anything else.
All you can do is complain you didn't get points.

This right here. Let's not encourage more crouching-behind-the-rock-doing-nothing strategies.

its has to be a frequent offence to be banable

A player that is this bad usually gets caught, and then cannot cope when the killer actually pressures them.
People always want to point to this edge situation as some sort of counterargument, but this (edit: almost) never happens outside of really newbie-rank games where players don't know anything anyway.
So, yes, an escape should equal a safety pip at minimum. If the player is being as useless as you are describing, and then really lucks out and finds the hatch (which we both know isn't remotely a guarantee), at best they are just treading water and not ranking up.

You're going to depip no matter how much survivors run around in your face if you don't hook anyone.

I've never heard of this being punished. And considering I run into at least one of these kinds of games every single day obviously it isn't punished enough.
Just report it and hope they get punished.
Frankly at this point I think BHVR should write an algorithm that auto-detects AFK killers, and awards them 2 pips instead of deranking them.

I have long wondered why this isn't the case in this game.
Pretty much every other online game does it. But DBD thinks it's unique or something I guess.

Which would lead to reason number 2.

The entitlement some times, I swear.

Survivors not enjoying the killer/map/gen progress/teammates/weather = just gonna suicide on the first hook. Because it's my right to do so.
Killer not enjoying the same situation and having no way to end the match without a penalty = we need to punish this!
Double standards at their best.

Okay, I'm locking this now as it seems to just turn into an argument about different things. You're free to create your own threads for those discussions specifically.
The thread in question has been answered about AFK and punishment.
