less Killer faces at night time
I guess I know why I can't play survivor since my only playtime is after 10pm 🤣
Santzuz - "Can you address the longer [survivor] queues during nighttime?"
The biggest limiting factor in terms of DBD isn't actually the system, it's the lack of players. Throughout the day, the ratio of survior:killer fluctuates pretty wildly. In a perfect world, for every 4 survivors there'd be 1 killer, however this isn't the case. Generally speaking during nighttime, the number of survivor players vastly outmates the number of killer players, and the complete opposite often happens during a new chapter release because everyone wants to play the new killer. There's some "cool, really interesting" background work being done right now. This could also explain the rather... questionable, let's say, matchmaking that people have been experiencing recently (good old rainbow ranks).

This could possibly also explain why I face more SWF on some nights...

The length of the queue times does definitely cause weird things to happen. The matchmaking currently is based on rank, region, and time queued. (I believe) So if you have been queued for a while and are in a close region to the killer, chances are even if the ranks are weird you will still be paired with a killer.
Now if it were something like 40 survivors to a killer at night instead of 400 survivors per killer. There would be more balanced games of rank and region with lower queue times overall.

why less killers at night?

Thurs night survivor with friends, but I'm playing like an #########(no obeying the survivor rule book for killers)
playing drunk ass killer

Game not fun.
After a certain time of the day, we see way more SWF teams than solos and the game isn´t fun, when the killer feels powerless or even bullied.

It will change soon

Well one thing that makes less survivor and killers is crossplay on/off.
If you have crossplay off you won't get paired with anyone who is on your platform that has crossplay on. Which is stupid. If you have crossplay on the game should be putting you anywhere you can fit as soon as possible within your matchmaking range. For crossplay off it is bad because you will likely just play with the same people.
Another thing is that the dedicated servers being bad means the pool is limited too. Their servers perform terribly and feel like you are +30-50ms on top of whatever your ms is.
For why you might face more swf than usual I would put that up to people dodging lobbies.

I'm exactly the same

I always just assumed it was because theres most likely a 2-3x increase or more in players at that time.
Think about it, kids out of school/college, adults out of University/Work. Add in that a lof of those players are most likely playing with friends and you have a staggering imbalance in players.
I actually only play killer during the day now, nights are so chock full of survivors that the queues are instant but most of the players are new or low level. Maknig games incredibly easy and not fun. During the day at least I tend to get good players but the queues are a bit longer.
I can't even find matches as survivor at night... when solo.

Yea usually around the weekends late night

No, it won't, unless you can get more people to play killer, matchmaking and lobby times will remain as-is.

I like to usualy more offten play at night times as killer because lobby times are super fast.
But I have to say, during my day time it usualy took like 6-10 min to find match as killer but now it takes like 50% faster during a day.
(Central EU time zone btw)

I generally play at around 8:00 CST.

^ Basically this.
At night is when all the SWF groups come on which ruins the matches for a lot of killers since we all know the game isn't balanced around SWF. That's why all the killers stop playing at that time.
Yeah we can use that old line that these aren't swat groups, they're just friends messing around. However, even if that is the case, that is still a casual group that's just as casual as a group of solo's, except with 4x the amount of pseudo perks from information they give. People vastly underestimate how influential the little casual talk of "oh bro it's such and such killer", "he's throwing some traps at shack", "think I saw his hex totem over there". So even though they may be "casual" it is still a significant unbalanced advantage that people like to down play.
All this said, there are a lot more swat groups at night time as well.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting him here but my understanding isn't that we lose killers when the sun goes down, we GAIN a ton of survivors
So it's not so much "How do we get more killer mains to play at night" so much as "How do we get all these survivors who swarm the game at night to play Killer instead"
I know for myself, I play almost exclusively killer at night because I can get into a game basically the moment I hit the "Join" button but I also don't have anyone I know who plays the game so I'm flying solo no matter which side I'm on.

They actually stated that there are a lot less killers at those times on stream, not just more survivors.

oh
