Not pipping when I probably should.

Hello guys, I'm posting this in a general discussion section because this is probably just how the game is intended to work but I find it kinda odd; so, I've achieved rank 1 killer before but never achived rank 1 survivor, I'm always stuck between rank 4 and 5, but today I had a fairly good winning streak of 3 matches at rank 4, what's odd to me is that winning 3 matches in a row actually just gave me 1 pip, from 4-0 pips to 4-1 pip, and when I started losing, which I lost 2 matches in a row, I quickly fell back to rank 5, is this normal? is it that hard to pip at lower ranks? I know you pip based in your score on each category so here's an screenshot of a game where I think I should've pipped but I didn't, It was my 2nd sucessful game.

One would think that almost every sucessful game with a decent score should give you a pip, as you would need almost 5 games in a row to pip and 1 lost to depip, but that doesn't seem to be the case, **the game seems to punish you easily for your mistakes and hardly reward you for your sucess.
**
So after 3 wins, no pip and 2 losts and back to rank 5, I just got tired, closed the game and I guess i'll try later.

you didn't do any work what makes you think you should pip for doing no work

The emblem system is strange. You safety easily without deserving it but you also often dont pip when you deserve it.

I can mostly speak for killer though. For example if all gens are done fast, but you manage to kill 2 with 3 hooks each and hook the other 2 2 times each so 10 hooks total and 2 kills it can often happen, that you dont pip cause you have 0 points in gens but are only 2 hooks away from the highest achievable numbers of hooks. I am sure there are other situations and situations for survivor too that are just broken.

I personally wish we had the old system back at least for killers.

Hover over the emblems to see where you were lacking.

To pip as survivor you should get 2 generators and 1 safe hook rescue. Provided you do that and don't die with 7 minutes you should gain 1 pip.

Are you getting safe hooks? Safe hook + Heal is automatic gold emblem, assuming you dont screw anyone over...

Well the game on the screenshot was an almost perfect game, with only one player hooked during the trial due to the killer having Noed but taken down quickly and then we rescued him and escaped, so I couldn't reach a high altruism score or get a safe hook, had a bit of chasing and took part on repairing around 2-3 gens.

I'll make sure to hover over the emblems next time, but yeah, the system is definetely hard to understand sometimes, wonder how hard would it be to pip for a player that wants to play solo.

Yea I agree and the game does not reward you for playing stealthy and getting out. You must getting chased and save at least 1-2 survivors in order to pip which is weird because if you think about it you would want to stay unseen and not die but that's not how the game works xP You get points for actions and not for staying passive.

In the screenshot, you probably were just repairing with your teammates and got silver~gold in gens, then you escaped so at least gold, then base bronze in altruism, since you've saved the hooked one, and bronze~silver for some chasing.
    Let's count:
    3 points for gens
    3 points for escaping
    1 point for altruism
    2 points for chases
9 points total => you pip. Considering that you did NOT pip, you, most likely, didn't repair much for getting gold lightbringer and didn't win the chase and got only bronze Evader.
Also, you wondered how solo players do out here. I'm mostly playing solo and I pip a lot, except games where I don't do much useful things, such as repairing, or chasing, or perform unsafe unhooks.

Excuse me, it does. And does it good. If you're playing stealthy enough, you'll escape without getting downed (4 points), and will be busy repairing gens while your teammates are busy chasing and saving each other which will end in you repairing a lot of gens (4 pints also). If you were stelathy and evaded killer good enough, you'll also get at least 1 evader point, and there's also base point for saving people. You get a pip, but if you don't that means that you were not playing stealthy, you were just sitting in a corner, waithing for your team to repair gens and open the gates.

Sometimes there are these games were everyone does like 1-2 gen and leaves the game. That is not enough to pip even though the killers was unable to get a hook in or maybe 1. I think you should still pip if you escape without being seen/chased/hooked...
