new hud coming live?
so basically they've made it clear that the new hud comes out unchanged, then what's the point of ptb? million of threads here, a lot of people whining on twitter, this hud and animation thing was everyone, and we don't have any solution of that? thanks, I'm really sad I've started playing dbd only 1 year ago, previously and till now it was a good game with no core mechanics/hud/perks changed, unfortunately will have to delete it now, cuz devs apparently don't even play their own game, just judging by them thinking the hud is good or ds nerf is a good idea. what have you done?

The devs said they wanted to give even more time for players to adapt to the changes and collect feedback from there. Even though PTB lasted for like 2 weeks, barely anyone played it more than 3 days.

honestly do you need more than 3 days to tell that it's way worse than the one we currently have?
14 -
Nope. You dont even need to play DBD to know that the new ingame-HUD is bad.
22 -
Sadly yes. They’ve basically ignored all our feedback.
10 -
exactly

then we probably need to show them our dissapointment, I guess? I would probably not even launch dbd after the update goes live. if I get a lot people out there, thinking same, I will make other post convincing these people to do the same

This is nothing more than the people who made it having a serious case of CYA to their bosses. I doubt they could go in to the boss and say “hey, we just spent a lot of man hours and a boatload of money on this new HUD, but it is an utter disaster. It’s worse in nearly every single way than the current one. Should we start over?”
Doesnt work that way sadly. This manure was going to be pushed out the moment they made it. The “let’s let everyone try it out” was simply a way to appease the bosses and not admit abject failure.

only hope i have is that they'll realize their mistake and take it out after a week or two again, much like some other "experiments" they've had in the past, such as the "fixed" Huntress hitboxes or the no timing requirement for pallet / flashlight saves...

Unfortunately, they decided to disregard the universal dislike for the new HUD and are going to implement it regardless. I wonder what the reasoning behind this is. The DEVs aren´t dumb (contrary to popular belief), and I can´t wrap my head around the fact why they push a change that everyone hates and literally nobody benefits from.
Regarding PTB: McLean shed a bit more light on that during their last stream. Basically, it enables them to make changes according to problems or disliked features sooner (compared to starting to get feedback on live release).

I've never seen them taking care or looking into things except for that aura change, so I think they won't give a rat's ass this time aswell

Perhaps some people will stop playing dbd within a few days after the release of 4.5.0. New HUD tires the eyes. Not everyone wants to get used to it :)

I guess so, you are right

I'm just saying what the devs said. They are using the same logic they use to nerf strong killers. Giving people more time to adapt and then changing if necessary. I understand that HUD is a different issue but for me, I've only had hands on with it for like two days so I can't come to a conclusion just yet but with how long I've played I wish they adjust a few stuffs. Icons are all over the place.

so they basically have said "yeah we ruined the UI, we will fix it soon". what's the need of this in first place? implement things? what things. if they told us: "yeah, we need it for X purposes, just wait." they didn't, they just threw it in our faces without considering all the hate it got from the start
2 -
They just use the PTB to pinpoint game breaking bugs that they overlooked, community feedback about other things doesnt matter.
0 -
then what's the point of PTB in the first place?
2 -
well, given the HUGE amount of bad feedback from the community (which was usually the case in all three mentioned scenarios), i hope that they will.
this is something different than a balancing issue, where all the complaints are usually from the side that got nerfed. this change affects everyone the same and, at least from what ive seen, a good 90% of people really dont agree with the changes, regardless of the role they prefer to play. so i still got my hopes up.

fingers crossed, yet I won't launch dbd if it goes live fr

I don't quite understand their reasoning for including it in the live version myself.
The only thing that may be an issue is if the hud itself has been coded so deep into the patch it would delay its release so they realistically can't remove it. At least this reason would be feasible but if that's the case just say it as right now its a very strange decision. I for one dislike the "it just needs getting used too" way of thinking.
I understand people work for a long time on these things but a bad change is bad regardless of that work and sometimes an idea just needs to be reverted and taken back to the drawing board.
For one any change like this should not be released without the colour blind option being 100% ready. On stream they said some changes have been made but did not detail what for some reason.
They should allow player to switch back and forth to the old hud as this alone would instantly let them know what the players like. It also needs the option to move the hud placements around which they did say isn't easy to do but it is certainly something that is desperately needed and should have been thought of when discussing changing the hud in the initial meetings.

this x10 times, you could've not said it better

It honestly doesn't look like they spent a long time working on the new HUD. It really looks like it was something that took them a few days to come up with, I'm sure it took them longer than that but it looks really bad that to me it gives that impression, and also that it was made by someone who has no clue about even the most basic fundamentals of UI design.

This^. I pointed out this even back then for Billy's overheat mechanics and related VFX.
The new HUD is going to stay. They might fix some colorblind things here and there. Other than that, they'll wait for the live feedback and I a few weeks they'll sweep this fiasco under the rug while hyping up the new chapter.
5 -
I really hope they will, also I'm pretty sure they will lose majority on their playerbase if this doesn't get a change soon
0 -
Their track record shows that it takes some major backlash for them to listen to feedback when they're already so dead set on something. Like colorblind-gate levels of backlash.
5 -
If anyone needs an example, just look at the aura changes. It took a literal uproar for the experts to realize it was trash.
5 -
Yeah, good example. It obviously broke the game in the PTB. Ignored feedback and pushed to live anyway, only to be rectified after the proverbial ######### storm.
3 -
Ugh,you remembered me of this garbage change 😧
I don't know why but BHVR is sometimes so damn stubborn about those kind of changes even though everyone in the community hates them
3 -
Sometimes I think that the BHVR management forgot to inform the design team that the new HUD is needed for PC and PS, and not for mobile phones...
3 -
Lol exactly. One of the main reasons I hate mobile games is because all of the edges of the screen are covered with hud & buttons. This new hud gives that same tacky feeling.
3 -
lmao exactly

Last I played was a week ago. I like the game but I don’t enjoy it as much as I used to so not launching the game is not a problem for me, I have other games I enjoy.
0 -
i thought the same thing. i'm not planning on playing until they revert/adjust the ui and animation changes. if they never do...then goodbye dbd, it was real.

yeah. exactly

There have been game breaking bugs in this game for years. There are hundreds of threads with video's and screenshots to provide information and still its not beeing adressed and fixed. For years!
Why would you think they'll listin after 3 weeks?
