Now that DS is being nerfed let's talk about Ruin

I was never a big fan of the proposed Undying nerf because Undying was never the problem. Ruin is the actual problem.

The actual counterpart of DS on the killer side is Ruin. These are the two main perks used by both sides to gain large time advantages. They are also the two perks used the most by both sides. With DS scope being reduced in scope I believe it's time we also started looking at Ruin.

Ruin was the problem because Undying could keep it up.

Not that that helps when the killer just happens to get a good totem spawn and win that way.

Ruin won’t be anywhere near as bad once the Undying changes go live.

I will agree though that in the right hands that current Ruin is significantly worse to deal with than old Ruin.

before undying was added to the game pop + corrupt was the meta. the only killers that ran ruin were killers who could defend totems effectively like trapper and hag but even then once ruin was found it was found, undying negated this weakness.

trust me once the undying nerf comes out you will see a lot less ruin and more devour hope

Ruin has potential to be very good with high-pressure play styles, but it's nowhere near as ubiquitous and constantly useful as DS. Even then, hexes can be easily cleansed, as is often the case.

  • Don't worry once the Undying nerf is released, Ruin will return to being a niche perk that only a few people run every now and then

This already happened though? Instead of being massive instant regression and slowdown i have to kick you off it first. Not only that but it denies perks that require kicking gens. If you want to go on a "what about" loop and say they should be equals, DS shouldnt allow exhaustion perks to activate (as an example, I dont suggest it should.

literally anything else would make it worthless even tho it's fairly weak

I would agree if totems were worth looking for the only hex in the game that makes you go ohhh no gotta find that asap is devour why because it poses a threat unlike ruin which is a annoyance

No, a counterpart for DS would be a Killer Perk that let's you regress a gen to 0 no matter how much progress it has. But such a Perk doesn't even exist while current DS does. Both would be second chance/anti momentum.

Ruin regresses gens at half the repairing speed. Ruin has the potential to be the strongest slowdown Perk but on it's own it's so harmless since it can be destroyed so easily while DS can not. Undying was the problem since with bad luck you had to destroy Ruin 4 times and that was a bit to much. Now it gurantees 1 extra life which is neat but not gamebreaking.

DS will also be a lot healthier with the changes. Only entitled Survivor Mains would say otherwise. Same with Object. In solo, it isn't that big of a problem but still annoying, in SWF, Object is completely broken. But how do you know if you are playing vs Solo or SWF? That's why it's getting changed as well.

Old Ruin was a problem and it got changed and now it's a healthy Perk.

I have absolutely no issue with Ruin in it's current form...it's actually a very good perk for the killers that know how to pressure a map and get survivors off gens (even without Undying), I don't think it needs any further nerfs/buffs but is in a good spot where it is.

Why? So no one has any meta perks left? It's not a very valid argument to say because x, so to y and z. y and z are independent variables.

What, should we just keep justifying nerfs on the basis of "They took one of ours, and one of there's is gonna answer for it"? That's a totally different game and we're here to play DBD

Ruin definitely isn’t the DS counterpart and isn’t the most used killer perk. Ruin is also pretty bad when you aren’t combining it with another perk.

Isn't Ruin used frequently to cope with the insane speed that Generators CAN pop at?

Killers can't play without ruin so it won't be nerfed. Just saying. Even a mod is defending it. Big yikes

Ah yes, killers can't play without a hex perk that is only good/useful if the killer can apply pressure.

Why the "big yikes"? They were just saying why they think ruin is in a good spot.
