Nurse and Oni mains: why do you four man slug?

I'm sure I am not alone in dreading survivor queues currently knowing there are Nurse tome challenges. Here come the Nurse mains in full force, which isn't normally an issue unless they four man slug at 4 or 5 gens left with Infectious Fright, like Onis who are perfectly fine with slugging as well. What do you have to gain by ending a game in 2 minutes or less? When a killer gets four hooks after slugging all four survivors and ends with ~17K points and barely safety pipping or even depipping, and all four survivors are guaranteed a depip, no one wins. All five players enter back into long queues with minimal progress made at all. Why do this?

Oni MUST slug. Otherwise he sucks as it cancels his power

Any killer can slug, because it is the person playing them, not the killer. Though I will say, the reason why you see Nurse & Oni doing it the most is because they're two of the best killers you can do it with, with both having good mobility & pressure especially when combined with Infectious Fright.

I'm going to personally speak for Oni here. If I'm running Infectious Fright & see an opportunity to slug, I definitely will because it creates map pressure. If I feel like I am ending the game too early, I will almost always hook 3 people and give a reset to the 4th person to go unhook the others. I understand leaving with 10k bloodpoints or less is frustrating.

Although, If I slug because I am deliberately losing control of the game, I will not feel mercy for you or your teammates because I would've lost if I hadn't done so. Sometimes killers slug because they see an opportunity & sometimes killers slug because they're desperate to take back control. It is a tactic & even though it's a douche move sometimes, it is a viable way to win.

With nurse, you dont wanna give any time for survivors to react.

  • Oni has to slug, it's built into his power. Nurse, on the other hand, is just a really good slugging killer.

Not a Nurse or Oni main but slugging is the best way to use Oni's Blood Fury while it lasts.

Oni - Picking up a survivor cancels your power. Therefore, the most optimal way to play Oni is to slug; do the damage you can, and then pick up a survivor to save the rest of the gauge. If the opportunity to down an entire team arises... well, what's he supposed to do?

Nurse - Nurse's mobility is abysmal. Unless you use range add-ons, her ability to mive across the map is average at best and below average at worse. The trade-off is that she has the best 1v1 power in the game. So to create map pressure, Nurses chain as many downs together as quickly as possible.

Long story short, it's done more out of necessity than malice.

    Killer is doing a speedrun.

Seriously though, I frequently get asked, "why are you slugging at 4 gens?" My answer is that I had 2 survivors hooked, 1 on the ground, knew where the 4th survivor was, and realized I could end the game immediately.

If all 4 survivors make enormous mistakes I'm going to end things early and move on to the next match.

    Sorry not sorry

This situation is understandable, though cold. The issue I am trying to get at isn't slugging someone at four gens, but slugging all survivors at four or five gens in an Infectious Fright killing slugging spree.

I just had a bubba and trapper try and 4 man slug. Why are you singling out Nurse and Oni?

I've had other killers end up slugging my entire team as well. In my experience playing survivor, usually only Nurses and Onis deliberately end a game in two minutes.

I don't think people are willing to learn how to play Nurse to farm bloodpoints, they just want to kill. And believe me, the survivors give a lot of reason for the Nurse players to act that way.

for me it just happens, i like chasing people, and if i spot someone and i know they don't have DS then i'm going to down them, it's free pressure

Oni's entire Kit revolves around him slugging if you don't slug with Oni you're not playing him correctly.
