Why give up early yet stick around till post-game?

I don't like giving up on hook myself unless it's to give hatch. So many matches where someone gives up early, the remaining survivors still end up getting very close to finishing gens where that 4th person would have made the difference. If people DC/give up on hook because a match seems hopeless and you want to just get to the next match it sucks for the others but I understand it. Giving up because you went down 20 seconds into a match is kinda lame but I still understand it. But why do so many people do this then stick around for another 10 minutes just...waiting? Someone gives up on their first hook then later you see them in end-game chat. They screw over their teammates without any benefit to them, instead of getting into another match quickly.

I guess my real question is, why do so many people who don't want to play this game continue playing this game? I don't say this as a complaint. I stopped playing LoL because it was absurdly toxic and not fun anymore. Genuinely, life is short, there are so many fun games out there, go do something you enjoy.

This is all it comes down to. They want to whine and complain about whatever grievance you and/or your team caused but no one is going to give them any attention because no one else cares. So they wait for the four people who MIGHT be willing to give them the attention they so desperately crave.
